A Study on High Frequency Sustaining Driver for Improving Luminance Efficiency of AC-PDP (AC-PDP의 광효율 향상을 위한 고주파 구동회로에 관한 연구)

  • Plasma display panel (PDP) has a serious thermal problem, because the luminance efficiency of the conventional PDP is about 1.5 lm/W and it is less than $3{\sim}5$ lm/W of cathode ray tube (CRT). Thus there is a need for improving the luminance efficiency of the PDP There are several approaches to improve the luminance efficiency of the PDP and we adopt the driving PDP at high frequency range from 400 kHz up to over 700 kHz. Since a PDP is regarded as an equivalent inherent capacitance, many types of sustaining drivers have been proposed and widely used to recover the energy stored in the PDP. However, these circuits have some drawbacks for driving PDP at high frequency range. In this paper, we investigate the effect of the parasitic components of PDP itself and driver when the reactive energy of panel is recovered. Various drivers are classified and evaluated whether it is suitable for high frequency driver, and finally current-fed type with do input voltage biased is proposed. This driver overcomes the effect of parasitic component in panel and driver and fully achieves ZVS of all full-bridge switches and reduces the transition time of the panel polarity.

Analysis of 3-Dimensional Magnetic Field Distribution in CPM Considering Magnetization Vector Distribution and Design of CPM (자화 벡터 분포를 고려한 CPM의 3차원 자계 분포 해석 및 설계)

  • This paper is about the analysis of 3-dimensional magnetic field distribution in CPM(Convergence Purity Magnet) considering magnetization vector and the optimum design of CPM. The magnetization vector of CPM is obtained using 2-dimensional magnetization FEA(Finite Element Analysis) coupled with Priesach model. Using this magnetization vector of CPM, we analysed the 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional magnetostatic field of CPM and know that these analysis results are not equal. From experimental result, we know that the 3-dimensional analysis is accurate because the magnetic field distribution in CPM cannot be considered correctly by 2-dimensional analysis because of the shape of CPM. Finally, the optimum designing of CPM which control accurately the electron beam deflection in CRT(Cathode Ray Tube) was possible using 3-dimensional magnetic field analysis result.

  • Secondary electron detectors used in scanning electron microscope accept secondary electrons emitted from the specimen and convert them to an electrical signal that, after amplification, is used to modulate the gray-level intensities on a cathode ray tube, producing an image of the specimen. In order to acquire images with good qualities, as many secondary electrons as possible should be reached to the detector. To realize this it is very important to select an appropriate mounting position and angle of the detector inside the chamber of scanning electron microscope. In this paper, a number of numerical simulations are performed to explore the relationships between detection rates of secondary electrons and the values of some parameters, such as distances between the detector and sample, relative mounting positions of scintillator positioned inside the detector with respect to detector cover, two types of mounting angles of the detector. The relationships between detection rates and applied voltages to corona ring and faraday cage, and energies of secondary electrons are investigated as well.

Dynamic Lung Compliance in Normal Subjects Measured by Pneumatograph (Pneumotachograph 로 측정한 건강인의 동적 폐 Compliance)

  • Dynamic lung compliance was measured in healthy ten young[mean age, 26 years] male and five young[mean age, 25 years] female. Lung volume was integrated of the rate of flow signal which was obtained by using pneumotachograph and differential pressure transducer[PM 5, Statham]. Intrapleural pressure was measured as that of intraesophagel pressure. Esophageal ballon, 15. 5cm in length, 4ml of luminal capacity and made of thin latex, was connected to the polyethylene tube that had 12-14 side holes and was of 1.5mm of ID. Transpulmonary pressure was traced by means of differential pressure transducer[PM 131, Statham] to which connected the esophageal balloon catheter and connection tube from mouth piece. Lung volume and transpulmonary pressure were photographed by cathode ray oscilloscope camera while the subjects were breathing spontaneously. Dynamic lung compliance loop was displayed on single trace monitor and subtraction was performed for the quasi-static hysteresis. Dynamic lung compliance was measured, 1. by plotting the pressure-volume relationship 2. from the subtracted pressure-volume loop. Results were as follows. 1. Dynamic lung compliances measured by plotting of healthy young male and female were $0.202{\pm}0.06$ and $0.190{\pm}0.023L/cm$ $H_2O$ respectively. 2. When measured from subtraction loop, dynamic lung compliance for male and female were $0.327{\pm}0.107$, and $0.27{\pm}0.06L/cm$ $H_2O$ respectively. 3. Dynamic chest wall and total respiratory system compliance were also measured. 4. Dynamic lung compliance by plotting appeared to be essentially same when compared to that of static compliance reported previously from our laboratory, however, that obtained from subtraction loop revealed higher values than the compliances obtained by plotting and that of static compliance.

  • Electronics has different meanings to different people and in different countries. Hence, let me difine the term in the sense that it is used here. Electronics in the science and the technology of the passage of charged particles in a gas, in a vacumn, or in a semiconductor. The beginning of electronics came in 1895 when H. A. Lorentz postulated the existence of discrete charges called electrons. Two years later J.J. Thompson found these electrons experimentally. In the same year (1897) Braun built what was probaly the first electron tube, essentially a primitive cathode-ray tube. It was not until the start of the 20th century that electronics began to take technological shape. In 1904 Fleming invented the diode which he called a valve. This era begins with the invention of the transistor about 30 years ago. The history of this invention is interesting. M.J. Kelly, director of research(and later president of Bell Laboratories), had the foresight to realize that the telephone system needed electronic switching and better amplifiers. Vacuum tubes were not very reliable, principally because they generated a great deal of heat even when they were not being used, and, particularly, because filaments burned out and the tubes had to be replaced. In 1945 a solid-state physics group wa formed. The foregoing completes the history of electronics and electronic industries up to 1978. There is already a start toward a merging of the computer and the communication industries which might be called information manipulation. This includes storage of information, sorting, computation, information retrieval, and transmission of data. This combination of the computer and the communication fields will penetrate many disciplines. Applications will be made in the fields of law, medicine, biological sciences, engineering, library services publishing banking, reservation systems, management control, education, and defense.

  • The technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) is regarded as a classical method of multiple attribute decision making (MADM), often used to solve various decision-making or selection problems. It is based on the concept that the chosen alternative should have the shortest distance from the positive ideal solution and the farthest distance from the negative ideal solution. The TOPSIS can be applied to a design process for carrying out multi-objective shape optimization wherein the best and worst alternatives are to be decided. In this paper, multi-objective shape optimization using the TOPSIS and Rational Bezier curve was applied to the funnel of a cathode-ray tube (CRT). In order to minimize the weight and first principal stress, a new multi-objective shape optimization methodology is proposed, wherein the relative-closeness coefficients of the TOPSIS are defined as the performance indices of a multi-objective function and evaluated by response surface models. This methodology enables the designer to decide on the best solution from a number of design specification groups by examining the various conflicts between the weight and the first principal stress.

Luminescent Properties of $SrTiO_3:Pr^{3+}$ Phosphor Coated with $SiO_2$ and $Al_2O_3$ by Sol-Gel Method (졸-겔법에 의한 $SrTiO_3:Pr^{3+}$ 형광체의 $SiO_2$$Al_2O_3$ 코팅에 따른 발광특성)

  • Field emission display(FED) is actively investigated in view of the development of full color flat-panel display, which can replace some cathode-ray tube(CRT). Thus, the development of new phosphors appropriate for FED is urgently needed and has been actively investigated. In this work, $SrTiO_3:Pr^{3+}$ phosphor was prepared by sol-gel method and the coating was applied by sol-gel method combined with sonication on these phosphor's surface into diluted precursor solution. It was found that very fine particles of coating material were formed on phosphor's surface. The luminescent intensity of $SrTiO_3:Pr^{3+}$ phosphor coated with $SiO_2$ and $Al_2O_3$ was considerably increased without any noticeable change in color chromaticity. The optimum concentration of coating material was found to be 1wt% and the optimum pH value of the solution was 10.

Formation of $SnO_2$Coating Layer on the Surface of ZnS Powders (ZrS 분말표면상에 $SnO_2$코팅막의 형성)

  • 본 실험은 목적은 CRT(Cathode Ray Tube)용 청색 형광체인 ZnS:Ag 분말 표면에 액상법으로 SnO$_2$를 균일하게 코팅하는 공정조건을 연구하는 것이다. 용매로서 물을 사용하고, Sn의 공급물질로서 SnCl$_4$.4$H_2O$, 침전 촉매로서 CO(NH$_2$)$_2$를 각각 사용하여, 균일 침전 방법으로 ZnS:Ag 분말표면에 SnO$_2$를 코팅할 수 있었다. 초기에 첨가되는 SnCl$_4$.4$H_2O$의 량이 Sn/Zn의 몰비기준으로 0.017인 경우에 ZnS:Ag 분말표면에 Sn(OH)$_4$가 균일하게 코팅되지만, 그 이상 첨가되면 과량의 Sn(OH)$_4$가 입자들 사이에 응집되었다. 코팅된 Sn(OH)$_4$는 비정질 구조로 규명되었으며, 이를 SnO$_2$결정상으로 전이시키기 위하여 300~$700^{\circ}C$ 범위 내에서 열처리를 행하였다. 비정질 Sn(OH)$_4$는 20$0^{\circ}C$이하에서 탈수되었고 45$0^{\circ}C$부터 SnO$_2$로 결정화되기 시작하였다. 순수한 ZnS의 경우, 50$0^{\circ}C$이하에서는 상변화가 없으나, $600^{\circ}C$에서 일부 산화되었으며 $700^{\circ}C$에서는 완전히 ZnO로 산화되므로, ZnS의 산화방지 및 SnO$_2$의 결정화를 동시에 만족하는 최고 열처리온도는 50$0^{\circ}C$로 규명되었다. 그러나 ZnS에 SnO$_2$가 코팅된 시편의 경우에는 $600^{\circ}C$가 되어도 ZnS 상이 거의 산화되지 않았고, $700^{\circ}C$에서도 ZnS와 ZnO 상이 공존한 것으로 보아 SnO$_2$코팅이 ZnS의 산화를 억제하는 것으로 나타났다.

Development of Air-floating Conveyor System for FPD (FPD용 공기부상 이송컨베이어 시스템 개발)

  • The CRT(Cathode Ray Tube) displays have been substituted for FPDs(Flat Panel Displays) such as LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and PDP(Plasma Display Panel) because they have a convex surface, large volume and heavy weight. The productivity of FPDs is greatly dependent on the area of thin glass panel with $0.6{\sim}0.8mm$ thickness because FPDs are manufactured by cutting a large-scaled thin glass panel with patterns to the required product dimensions. So FPD's industries are trying to increase the area of thin glass Panel. Through FEM(Finite Element Method) analysis and fluid analysis, we developed an non-contact and air-floating conveyor system which consists of transport-module, distributor, horizontal/vertical changer and controller for the 7th generation glass panel (2,200mm in width, 1,870mm in length and 0.7mm in thickness). The design technology developed in this study can be effectively applied to a conveyor system for a larger-scaled thin glass panel.

  • SHOP DWG의 현주소 어디까지 왔는가? 설계에서 제조에 이르는 전 과정을 컴퓨터로 제어하고 관리하는 기술. 캐드(CAD)와 캠(CAM)은 각각 computer-aided design,computer-aided manufacturing의 약칭으로 컴퓨터보조설계와 컴퓨터보조생산을 뜻한다. CAD는 설계도면을 한 장씩 수작업으로 제도하지 않고 설계 데이터베이스의 정보를 CRT(cathode ray tube)에서 화상을 보고 합성하면서 설계하므로 작업을 최적화 할 수 있다. CAD로 설계된 설계도의 내용은 CAM을 통해 NC(수치제어)공작기계에 정확한 작업동작을 지시하게 되며, 작업관리∙가공∙조립∙검사 등의 제조과정을 컴퓨터로 관리하여 작업속도와 제품의 정밀성을 높이게 된다. 최근에는 건축현장의 2D system이 보편화되어 있지만 건축현장의 핵심이라고 할 수 있는 기계설비의 기계실, 또는 조립화 공법 등에는 3차원 CAD∙CAM시스템이 개발되어 입체형상을 화면에 3차원으로 재현할 수 있고, 대상물의 표면적∙부피∙무게∙강도 등의 물리적 성질도 자동 계산하여 최적상태에서 현장의 시공에 적용할 수 있게 되었다. 1960년대 초 미국에서 자동차 모델∙엔진, 항공기 부품 등 의 설계에 수작업의 한계를 느껴 개발되었으며, 한국에서는 70년대 중반에 도입되어 운용되고 있다. 이에 따라 프로그램 회사들은 다양한 방법 등을 SHOP DWG에 적용하여 판매경쟁이 치열하다.
