$3Y-ZrO_2$$8Y-ZrO_2$ 분말의 혼합비율에 따른 테이프 캐스트된 지르코니아 박판의 전기적 성질의 변화 (Electrical Properties of Tape-Cast Zirconia Thin Plates with the Mixing Ratios of $3Y-ZrO_2$ and $8Y-ZrO_2$ Powders)

  • After adding 8Y-ZrO2 powders to 3Y-ZrO2 powders at ratios of 0, 33, 50, 67, and 100% by weight, the mixed yttria-stabilized zirconia specimens were fabricated into thin plate using tape~casting method and then sintered at 150$0^{\circ}C$ for 4h in air. The crystalline structure, microstructure and electrical properties of the sintered zirconia thin plates were investigated by using X-ray diffractometer, scanning electron microscope and impedance analyser, respectively. At the temperatures higher than 75$0^{\circ}C$, the sintered thin plate with 33% 8Y-ZrO2 content shows higher mechanical properties and lower electrical resistivity than 8Y-ZrO2 thin plate which is generally used as an electrolyte for solid oxide fuel cells. This is due to the fact that the zirconia thin plates with low 8Y-ZrO2 content maintain the slope of low temperature region up to high temperatures, whereas at temperatures higher than 50$0^{\circ}C$ the slope decrease in the zirconia thin plates with high 8Y-ZrO2 content.

치과용 Au-Ag-Cu계 합금의 부식특성에 관한 연구 (Study on the Corrosin Properties of Au-Ag-Cu Dental Alloys)

  • Corrosion characteristics of four commerial gold-based dental alloys(C-1; Au75%, Ag13.9%, Pd3%, Cu & etc.,8.1%, C-2 ;Au 52.08, Ag 24%, Pd 5%, Cu & etc.,18.92, C-3 ; Au 53%, Ag 22%, Pd 5%, Pt 3% Cu & etc.,17%, C-4 ; Au 53%, Pd4, Pt1.5%, Ag & Cu & etc.,41.5%) and four experimental ternary Au-Ag-Cu alloys(E-1 ; Au 50%, Ag 30%, Cu 20%, E-2 ; Au 50%, Ag 20%, Cu 30%, E-3 ; Au 50%, Ag 10%, Cu 40%, E-4 ; Au 50%, Ag 40%, Cu 10%) were investigated by potentiodynamic polarization analysis and the structure was examined by optical microscope and SEM. All corrosion testing was conducted in 1% NaCl solution. The main results are as follows : 1. The corrosion resistence of commercial alloys was decreased in the order of C-1, C-3, C-4, C-2. C-2. 2. The E-1 and E-3 ternary alloys exhibits the higher corrosion resistence than E-2 and E-4 alloys. 3. The cast microstructure of alloys reveals dendrite morphology which shows the significant microsegregation caused by the difference in the diffusion rate between liquid and solid. 4. It is found that the surface corrosion products were mainly AgCl by X-ray diffraction results.

치과용 Co-Cr 합금의 제성질에 미치는 Boron과 Silicon의 영향 (Effect Boron and Silicon on Various Properties of Dental Cobalt-Chromium Alloys)

  • This paper aims to investigate the effect of B and Si upon the mechanical properties, microstructure and corrosion resistance of Co-Cr base alloy. Ten groups of alloy ingot ingot with various contents of B and Si were remelted by high frequency electrical induction furnace and cast into tensile specimen of ADA Specification No. 14 Tensile and hardness test were carried out by Amsler and Rockwell hardness tester(R-30N), respectively. The microstructures of specimen were observed by SEM. The results obtained are summarized as follows : 1. As B content is increased, tensile strength, yield strength and Rockwell hardness number(R-30N) are also increased significantly, while the elongation is decreased significantly. 2. As Si contect os increased, no significant chang in tensile strength is noticed, yield strength is slightly decreased, but Rockwell hardness number(R-30N) is moderately in creased, Elongation marks maxium value with 1% Si content while with more than 1% Si it is decreased. 3. As B content is increased corrosion resistance is decreased and is at best with 1.5% B content. Corrosion resistance is increased with the increase of Si content and the alloys with Si over 3.0% showed corrosion resistance. 4. As B content increased, precipitates are increased in number at grain boundaries. The grain size tends to become coarse with the increase of Si content. 5. Co rich-Cr alloy is present through matrix whereas at the grain boundaries Cr base precipitates are primarily formed.

알루미늄 합금의 표면경화 (Formation of Thicker Hard Alloy Layer on Surface of Aluminum Alloy by PTA Overlaying with Metal Powder)

  • The formation of a thicker hard alloyed layer have been investigated on the surface of aluminum cast alloy (AC2B) by PTA overlaying process with Cr, Cu and Ni motel powders under the condition of overlaying current 125-200A. overlaying speed 150 mm/min and different powder feeding rate 5-20 g/min. In addition the characteristics of hardening and wear resistance of alloyed layer here been examined in relation to the microstructure of alloyed layer. Main results obtained were summarized as follows: 1) There was an optimum overlaying condition to get a good alloyed layer with smooth surface. This good layer became easy to be formed as increasing overlaying current and decreasing powder feeding rate under a constant overlaying speed. 2) Cu powder was the most superior one in metal powders used due to a wide optimum overlaying condition range, uniform hardness distribution of Hv250-350, good oar resistance and freedom from cracking in alloyed layer with fine hyper-eutectic structure. 3) On the contrary, irregular hardness distribution was usually obtained in Cr ar Ni alloyed layers of which hardness was increased as Cr or Ni contents and reached to maximum hardness of about Hv400-850 at about 60wt%cr or 40wt%Ni in alloyed layer. 4) Cracking occurred in Cr or Ni alloyed layers with higher hardness than Hv250-300 at mere than 20-25wt% of Cr or Ni contents in alloyed layer. Porosity was observed in all alloyed layers but decreased by usage of spherical powder with smooth surface.

열간압연롤용 다합금계 백주철의 응고조직, 열처리조직 및 기계적 성질에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Solidification Structure, Heat-Treated Microstructure and Mechanical Property of Multi-Component White Cast Iron for Hot Forged Roller)

  • 2.3%C-26%Cr-1%Ni-0.5%Mo 조성의 다합금계 고크롬백주철을 고주파유도용해로를 사용하여 주조한 후 응고조직, 열처리조직 및 기계적성질간의 상관관계를 연구하였다. 주방상태에서는 초정덴드라이트조직인 기지조직과 공정탄화물로 구성되어 있었으며 기지조직의 73%가 오스테나이트, 27%가 마르텐사이트조직이었다. $900^{\circ}C$에서 5시간동안 균질화열처리만 행한 시편의 경우, 기지조직은 거의 페라이트로 구성되어 있었으며 $1100^{\circ}C$에서 불안정화열처리후 강제공냉시킨 시편의 경우, 유지시간에 따라 기지조직내의 잔류오스테나이트함량은 48.9-57.6%의 범위에 놓여 있었다. 주방상태 및 열처리시편 공히 마모량과 마모시간과의 관계가 직선적으로 얻어 졌는바 마모속도는 $2.77x10^{-2}$ /$~4.12x10^{-2mg}$ /sec의 범위에 걸쳐 있었다. 주방상태의 시편이 내마모성이 가장 우수하였으며 균질화열처리만 행한 시편이 가장 열악하였다. 기지조직내 잔류오스테나이트함량의 비율이 높아짐에 따라 경도는 감소하였고 반면에 내마모성은 향상되었다. 이는 마찰마모시험시 접촉부위의 오스테나이트가 가공경화를 일으켜 마르텐사이트로 변태되었기 때문으로 사려된다.

구상흑연주철의 피절삭성과 내마모성에 미치는 Boron 첨가의 효과에 관한 연구 (A Study for the Effects of Boron Addition on Machinability and Wear Resistance of Ductile Cast Iron)

  • It is very important to obtain high performance ductile iron by addition a small amount of alloying elements. In this study, to improve the characteristics of small piston ring casted from ductile iron melt a small amount of boron($0{\sim}0.008wt.%$) that is powerful carbide stabilizer was added in ductile iron, and inspected it`s effects on the microstructure, wear resistance, machinability and mechanical properties. The results obtained from this study are as follows. 1. As the amount of boron increased to 0.04wt.%, the machinability of ductile iron is increased, and if the amount is in excess of 0.04wt.% the machinability is decreased conversely. 2. The wear resistance of ductile iron is improved by boron addition. 3. The recommended ladle addition of boron amount ranges from 0.04wt.% to 0.06wt.% for the use of small piston ring.

탄소함량 변화에 따른 오스템퍼드 Fe-2.0wt.%Si-0.3wt.%Mn 강의 기계적 성질 (Mechanical Properties of Austempered Fe-2.0wt.%Si-0.3wt.%Mn Steel with various Carbon Contents)

  • In this study, we investigated the effect of carbon on mechanical properties with different austempering conditions of high carbon(0.7~1.3wt.%C)-2.0wt.%Si steels. The specimens were austenitized at 850, 925 and $1020^{\circ}C$, and austempered at 260, 320 and $380^{\circ}C$ for the various period of time from 3 min to 300 min. After heat treatment, the evolution of stage I and stage II was identified with optical microscope, XRD and hardness test. When the austempering temperature was $260^{\circ}C$, the microstructure consisted of the lower ausferrite while the upper ausferrite micro-structure was formed at $380^{\circ}C$. As the austempering temperature increases from 260 to $380^{\circ}C$, the tensile strength decreases and elongation increases. In addition, when carbon content increases, tensile strength and elongation decrease.

  • Segregation during solidification and homogenization during thermal exposure in GTD 111 were investigated. The microstructures of as-cast, standard heat-treated, and thermally exposed specimens were observed by SEM. A compositional analysis of each specimen was conducted by EDS. The dendrite core was enriched in W and Co, though lower levels of Ti and Ta were observed. An unexpected phase, in this case like the ${\eta}$ phase, was observed due to segregation near the ${\gamma}-{\gamma}^{\prime}$ eutectic in the standard heat-treated specimen. Segregation also induced microstructural evolution near the ${\gamma}-{\gamma}^{\prime}$ eutectic during the standard heat treatment. A quantitative analysis and microstructural observations showed that the thermal exposure at a high temperature enhanced the chemical homogeneity of the alloy.

Effect of Si Content on the Microstructure of Cast M42 Tool Steel

  • 공구강은 C, Cr, V, Mo, W, Co 및 Si 과 같은 첨가원소를 함유한 복잡한 철계 합금으로 주요 특성인 경도, 부식저항성, 열 연화저항성 그리고 인성의 요구수준에 따라 화학성분이 결정된다. 본 연구에서는 1.0C, 0.2Mn, 3.8Cr, 1.5W, 8.5Co, 9.2Mo, 1.0V 조성의 M42 공구강의 미세조직과 열간가공성에 미치는 Si 함량의 효과를 체계적으로 조사하였다. 진공유도용해를 이용하여 Si 함량을 중량비로 0.33 에서 1.7% 까지 변화시켜 $140{\times}140{\times}330\;mm^{3}$ 크기의 잉곳으로 제조하였다. 이렇게 제조한 잉곳들은 $1150^{\circ}C$에서 1.5시간 동안 용체화처리한 후 노냉하였고, 이어 $1180^{\circ}C$에서 15mm 두께의 판재로 열간압연하였다. 공정 탄화물의 형상 및 분해 거동을 중심으로 미세조직을 관찰한 결과 Si 함량이 증가함에 따라 분해속도가 느려지는 것을 알 수 있었고 이로 인해 열간성형성이 급격히 저하되는 것으로 나타났다.

  • Interfacial characteristics of aluminum borate whisker reinforced AS52 matrix composite was investigated. Peak hardness of AS52 composite was obtained aging at $170^{\circ}C$ for 15h and the aging process was accelerated by the presence of the aluminium borate whisker. The MgO layer, which was the interfacial reaction product between the reinforcement and the Mg matrix, was produced with 20 nm thickness in as-cast condition. As the aging time increased, the thickness of the interfacial reaction layer increased to 50 nm in peak aged condition. The nano-indentation test results indicated that the strength of interface was improved by the aging but over-aging degraded the reinforcement and decreased the interfacial strength which resulted in the decrease of overall composite strength.
