A newly recorded alien plant, Silene fissipetala(Caryophyllaceae) from Korea

  • Silene fissipetala Turcz., which is native to Continental China and Taiwan, was newly found in Chungcheongnam-do, Korea. S. fissipetala is similar to the related taxa S. antirrhina L., S. armeria L., and S. koreana Kom. in that it has glutinous zones. However, S. fissipetala is distinguished from the congeneric species by the presence of laciniate at the petals. The species grows on slopes and roadsides, suggesting that it is likely to have been introduced through the installation of green sites and road construction. A precise description, photographs, voucher specimens and a key to related taxa are provided.

  • 미기록 귀화식물인 Polygonum ramosissinum Michx. (마디풀과)와 Spergularia bocconi (Scheele) Graebn. (석죽과)를 한반도 서남해안에서 발견되었다. 미국갯마디풀로 신칭한 P. ramosissinum은 잎이 도피침형이거나 피침형이며, 수과는 돌기가 없는 형태적 특징으로 속내 근연종들과 구분된다. 끈적털갯개미자리로 신칭한 S. bocconi는 꽃이 달리는 윗부분의 가지, 줄기, 잎에 샘털이 있으며, 특히 꽃자루와 꽃받침잎 바깥 면에 많은 샘털을 가지고 있는 형태적 특징으로 속내 근연종들과 구분된다. 본 연구는 미기록 귀화식물 2종에 대한 기재와 화상자료를 제공하고, 검색표를 작성하였다.

  • 오키나와를 제외한 일본에 분포하는 석죽과의 그늘별꽃(Stellaria sessiliflora Y. Yabe)이 최근에 제주도에서 발견되었다. 일본 식물지에 그늘별꽃이 한국(제주도)에 분포한다고 언급되어 있으며, 1935년에 제주도에서 채집된 표본의 사진(Slide No. 6294)이 이를 확증한다. 부가적으로 국립수목원과 국립산림과학원의 표본들은 이 식물이 상당한 기간동안 제주도에 분포하고 있었음을 나타낸다. 그늘별꽃은 잎이 넓고 잎가장자리가 주름지며, 줄기 윗부분의 잎에도 잎자루가 있으며, 수술이 10개인 점에서 별꽃과 구분된다. 국명은 낙엽활엽수림 밑 그늘에 분포하여 '그늘별꽃'으로 신칭하였다. 그늘별꽃의 형태적 특징을 기재하고, 도해, 기준표본, 확증표본 자료와 생태 사진들을 첨부하였다.

  • 충청남도 홍성군과 인천광역시에서 각각 석죽과와 지치과의 미기록 외래식물 2분류군을 발견하였다. 산형나도별꽃(Holosteum umbellatum L.)과 갈퀴지치(Asperugo procumbens L.)는 종과 속이 국내에서는 처음으로 확인되었다. 새롭게 침입한 외래식물들의 인지와 확산방지를 위한 기초 정보를 제공하고자 형태 및 특성을 보고 한다.

  • A phytochemical investigation of Spergularia marina (L.) Griseb. growing in Egypt, has been carried out, which resulted in the isolation of seven compounds from the different extracts of the plant namely; ${\beta}$-sitosterol glucoside, tricin (1) dihydroferulic acid (2), vanillic acid (3), 4-hydroxybenzoic acid (4), uracil (5) and 8-hydroxy cuminoic acid (6) Structure elucidation of the isolated compounds was carried out using different spectroscopic techniques. This is the first report for the isolation of these compounds from genus Spergularia. Furthermore, 8-Hydroxy cuminoic acid and uracil were isolated for the first time from family Caryophyllaceae. The chemical composition of the volatile components present in the petroleum ether extract of Spergularia marina (L.) Griseb. using combined gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) is reported here for the first time. Of the 97 components present, 59 were identified including three sulfur containing compounds which represented about 1.8% of the volatiles of the total petroleum ether extract. This prompted us to study and report its possible antimicrobial activity. In addition, the antibacterial and antifungal screening of different extracts of Spergularia marina (L.) Griseb. as well as some isolates have been performed using agar diffusion method.

  • Free anino acid contents in alcohol extract of eight plants of Caryophyllaceae and their microbial activities were investigated. 1) Amino acid contents in both of the Pseudostellaria palibiniana and Stellaria media was the highest among them and the contents was less in the order of Cerastium caspitosum and Stellaria aquatica. 2) Of all free amino acids contained in eight plants, valine was the richest, and then glutamic acid, leucine in that order. On the other hand, no methionine was observed and cystine, lysine and histidine were found in small amounts. 3) Of eight plants exhibited good antibacterial action against Sarcina lutea, B. subtilis and Sal. typhi. 4) S.aquatica and Pseudostellaria palibiniana showed antibiotic actions against all bacteria except for fungus, Candida albicans. 5) C. caspitosum and C. brachypetalum showed inhibition zone against B. subtilis and Sal. typhi only. 6) Antibacterial activity against gram(+) bacteria was more potent than gram(-).
