In brushless DC motor, current flow should be controlled such that only properly selected 2 out of 3 phases carry current depending on the position of rotor. In order to detect position of rotor, hole sensor, encoder, optical position-detecting sensor, and magnetic position-detecting sensor are frequently employed. These sensors not only often cause malfunction in low and high temperature but they also have disadvantage of increasing cost and size of an motor system. To reduce the cost and size and to increase the robustness of the motor system, recently researches on sensorless motor dirve are very active. This paper proposes a novel unipolar PWM switching method that can improve the control problem caused by the difficulty of detecting zero crossing point at high revolution speed by minimizing the switching noise while increasing the lifespan of the drive system.

The magnetic levitator is the device which can float a magnetic material at the midair by electromagnetic force and it's principle can be applied to the high speed magnetic bearing or magnetic levitation train. There are many difficulties to control, because the magnetic levitator is basically a nonlinear and unstable system. In this paper, this system is modeled assuming that it is a linear system nearby an operating point, and a proportional and derivative(PD) position controller is designed to carry out the variable position control. The performance of position control response is shown through simulation and experiment. A prototype magnetic levitator is constructed using PWM converter and DSP(Digital Signal Processor) based control board.

A method for improving current THD of Valley-fill rectifier is proposed in this paper. The proposed topology combines a boosting inductor with Valley-fill rectifier which carry out AC/DC conversion and PFC simultaneously The boosting effect by PWM switching makes low THD current and improve of Valley-fill rectifier. The operation modes and THD of input current are analyzed as applied the boosting inductor, and the optimum value of boosting inductor is determined A 100[W] single-stage converter has been designed and tested. Experimental results are resented to verify the validity of the proposed method.

A study to reduce the transient torque in shifting in automatic transmission has been very important issue. Recently it is really dominant to decrease the torque by using independent-acting hydraulic circuit because we can control the clutch pressure actively and elaborately. So we design the new hydraulic circuit to control the clutches in automatic transmission and make the module library of computer simulations, We apply the results to GM model automatic transmission and carry out 1longrightarrow4 shifting simulations. By this work we recognize the capability of active and elaborate clutch pressure control using new hydraulic circuit. In addition We develop the tool to simulate the powertrain system. It is easier to update and exchange the subsystem model or parameters than conventional simulation tools.
The paper addresses modeling and analysis of a grid-connected photovoltaic generation system (PV system). PSCAD/EMIDC. an industry standard simulation tool for studying the transient behavior of electric power system and apparatus. is used to conduct all aspects of model implementation and to carry out extensive simulation study. An equivalent circuit model of a solar cell has been used for modeling solar array. A PWM voltage source inverter (VSI) and its current control scheme have been implemented. A maximum power point tracking (MPPT) technique is employed for drawing the maximum available energy from the PV array. Comprehensive simulation results are presented to examine PV array behaviors and PV system control performance in response to irradiation changes. In addition, dynamic responses of PV array and system to network fault conditions are simulated and analysed

The paper addresses modeling and analysis of a grid-connected photovoltaic generation system (PV system). PSCAD/EMTDC, an industry standard simulation tool for studying the transient behavior of electric power system and apparatus, is used to conduct all aspects of model implementation and to carry out extensive simulation study. This paper is aimed at sharing with the PSCAD/EMTDC user community our user-defined model for PV system applications, which is not yet available as a standard model within PSCAD/EMTDC. An equivalent circuit model of a solar cell has been used for modeling solar array. A series of parameters required for array modeling have been estimated from general specification data of a solar module. In addition, dynamic responses of PV array and system to network fault conditions are simulated and analysed.

As the high-level of the industrial and information age, the electricity become the indispensable element in the daily life including OA, FA, and computer, electric home appliances, and etc. In particular, The continuous use of the high capacity power supply system by applying a Switching Mode Power Supply(SMPS) according to the increase of the secondary side output terminal of the power load of the refrigerator of the home appliance or automation of the plant is pressed. The purpose using the way with this kind of high-capacity altogether is to supply the output voltage and output current regardless of the input voltage or to the external environmental conditions of the secondary-side load fluctuation. In this paper, a combination of a Buck Converter with Boost Converter by making a constant current source to control the inductor current and maintain stable power supply side operating characteristics, when load variations. While maintaining the same characteristics as conventional Buck Converter, and offer a DC-DC Converter system with the new switch pattern having a wide output range capable of operating in Buck-Boost Converter. In addition, after theoretical analysis, we carry out simulations and experiments to verify the validity and performance comparing with a conventional DC-to-DC converter.
At present, harmonic currents cause serious problems in power conversion system using the semiconductor switching device. Also some of the conversion system provokes harmonic currents against to the main power supply system and causes hindrances for the system. Main power impedance of the traditional LC passive filter method, influences on the filter characteristics and amplifies the harmonics when resonance phenomenon is occurred. And the traditional existing 2 level inverter systems show the limit in capacity of voltage and current in case of occurring sudden load change. So, to solve this problem active filter which uses cascaded H-bridge multi level inverter has been designed and ex-filter system circuits were totally investigated. With multi level active filtering system not only the size of filter but also the size of filter for transformer can be reduced by half and so as to the weight, while the capacity of inverter can be double sized and wave forms can be compensated exactly and precisely. Also by the benefit of the increase in rating capacity, the various currents owing to the load fluctuation can be dealt more steadily. In order to simulate the wave form of harmonics based on the measured data on the AC 25kV high speed Domestic Commercial railway, it was simulated with PSCAD/EMTDC and PSIM. Based on the results of this demonstration, the power supply system and inverter system would be more stable and also promoting its efficiency.
