  • An aircraft carrier is a combat ship that acts as an aircraft base at sea and performs combat through aircraft mounted as a military ship operating the aircraft. The Navy proposed a 40,000-ton light aircraft carrier operation plan that could be equipped with vertical takeoff and landing fighter jets and helicopters around 2033, and based on this, this study examined the operation of aircraft control equipment among the aviation support systems required for operating light aircraft carriers in Korea. PriFly, TWR's ILARTS, ILM for airspace control, ASR, PAR, LAAS or RNAV, PALS (JPALS) for access control are required as essential equipment, and communication network and SCATT-16 are required along with URN-25 TACAN, ICLS (El/Az), ACLS OLS, MOVAS, IFLOLS, etc. This study consists of two parts, and part 2 will describe a specific control method on an aircraft carrier.

  • Generally, container carrier has larger engine than other commercial vessels and the engine casing is located in accommodation space. Therefore, the noise levels of cabins and engine room could be exceeded the specified noise limits and might be an annoyance to crews, and which can result in poor ship quality. Main subject of this study is to predict noise levels of the 4,500 TED container carrier by statistical energy analysis method in order to comply with contracted noise limits and to compare with the measured values. Additionally, through the contribution analysis of noise sources to each cabins, and appropriate countermeasures are proposed and the reduction effect of each noise control measure is studied by the analysis method. This study will contribute to reduce the noise levels of similar vessel.

  • This study proposes a carrier-based pulse width modulation (PWM) method for leakage current reduction and neutral point (NP) current control in a three-phase three-level converter, which is a carrier-based PWM version of the previously proposed low-frequency common mode voltage PWM. Three groups of space vectors with the same common mode voltage are used. When the averaged NP current needs to be positive or negative, the specific groups are employed to produce low-frequency common mode voltages. The validity of the proposed PWM method is verified through experiments.

  • In this paper, carrier comparison PWM method for voltage control of Vienna rectifier is discussed. In general, in industrial and communications applications, the two-level rectifier is used. However, this two-level rectifier has the limit of high THD and low efficiency. So, the studies of three-level rectifier has been carried out so far, and the Vienna rectifier circuit is the representative. The space vector pulse width modulation(SVPWM) method is generally used for Vienna rectifier, in which voltage vectors and duration time are calculated from the voltage reference. However, this method require very sophisticated and complex calculations, so realizing this method by software is very difficult. To overcome this disadvantage, simple carrier comparison PWM method for Vienna rectifier is proposed which is modified from the carrier comparison method for 3 level inverter. Furthermore, to verify the usefulness of the Vienna rectifier carrier comparison PWM the simulation and experiment are carried out.

  • Produced water is the largest wastestream of oil and gas exploration. It consists of various organic and inorganic compounds that hinder its beneficial use. This study compared the treatment of produced water in a batch suspended and biofilm activated sludge process. The biofilm carrier material was made from Gardenia Carinata shell. COD, $NH_4{^+}-N$ and $NO_3-N$ removal was monitored in both the suspended (control) and floating carrier bioreactors. The results show a rapid reduction of produced water constituents in the floating carrier bioreactor. COD, $NH_4{^+}-N$ and $NO_3-N$ removal was in the range of 99%, 98% and 97% for the floating carrier bioreactor whereas it was 88%, 84% and 83% for the control bioreactor. The rapid reduction of COD, $NH_4{^+}-N$ and $NO_3-N$ clearly indicate that the floating carrier materials served as an attached growth medium for microorganisms, improved the breakdown of produced water constituents and reduced inhibition of microbial metabolic activities.

  • Recently, many technologies of the P.L.C (Power Line Carrier) are introduced for an efficient communication. P.L.C communication sends information in the carrier signals by conduction over the power wire. An arc detector is proposed in this paper for the effective transmission. The Power Line Carrier has an advantage in low cost because it uses existent power line. It can be easily applied anywhere that a power line socket is available. But the P.L.C. is very noisy, because many electronic devices in generate electronic noise in modulated signals. This problem should be considered carefully in the design of the arc detector system using P.L.C in railway. The proposed system can be applied for monitoring the arc detector system and the arc locator system in railway. Hence the system will be able to exchange the arc information to be T.C.M.S. (Train Control Management System), bogies and even between a station and trains in railway and use to suspicion fire in train.

  • The performance of a multi-carrier CDMA system is analyzed considering frequency selective multipath fading and Near/Far effects. The number of multicarrier, multiuser, and arms of RAKE receiver, and the decay ratio of frequency selective multipath fading are used as a parameter for the performance analysis. More over, the distribution and the strength of multiuser interference are also considered. To evaluated the Near/Far effects in a multi-carrier CDMA system, three distribution models are assumed. In the first model. interference to carrier Ratio, I/C, ranges form -4 dB to 4dB, and at each 2 dB interval 20 % of multiuser is assumed to be uniformly distributed. In the second one, I/C ranges from -2 dB to 2 dB, and 33.3% of multiuser is assumed to be equally dispersed at each 2dB interval. The third model is 0 dB of I/C, that is, with perfect power control, multiuser are assumed to be evenly located. In this paper, multi-carrier CDMA system adoption RAKE receiver is proposed to mitigate the frequency selective multipath fading. Form the results, the third model(i.e. perfect power control)shows the best performance, and the narrower range of I/C causes the less effects to the desired signal, which reads to the better performance.

  • With GPS carrier phase measurements from more than two antenna which attached to the vehicle, precise attitude can be easily obtained if the integer ambiguity included in carrier phase measurement is resolved. Recently some special products which use dual frequencies or has one receiver engine with multiple antenna are announced. But there are still strong requirements for the conventional single frequency off-the-shelf receiver. To meet these requirements, an efficient integer ambiguity resolution technique is indispensable. In this paper, a new technique to resolve integer imbiguity with single frequency receivers is proposed. The proposed method utilize the known baseline length as a constraint of independent elements of integer ambiguities. With this constraints, the size of search volume can be greatly reduced. Thus the true integer ambiguity can be easily determined with less computational burden and number of measurements. The proposed method is applied to real data to show its effectiveness.

  • In this paper, an improved modulated carrier control for a single-phase shunt active power filter(SAPF), which eliminates harmonic currents at the ac main drawn by nonlinear loads, is introduced. In contrast to conventional methods, since this control method does not need to generate a current reference for SAPF, only the ac main current is sensed instead of the load current and SAPF current. With the proposed control method, the ac main current is directly controlled to be sinusoidal and in phase with the supplied ac voltage by simply comparing the modulated carrier signal with the ac main current. The operation of the proposed SAPF is analyzed and simulation results verify its performance.
