This paper provides descriptions and illustrations of two hippolytid shrimps, Eualus macilentus ($Kr{\phi}yer$, 1841) and E. leptognathus (Stimpson, 1860). This is the first record of E. macilentus collected in Korean waters; it was found in the East Sea at a depth of 300 m. Eualus leptognathus has been collected previously from various locations in southern and eastern Korea, but no detailed description has been reported. This study provides a key to the six species of Eualus in Korean waters.

An alpheid shrimp Betaeus gelasinifer Nomura and Komai, 2000 new to Korean waters is described and illustrated based on two specimens collected from Changseun and Ulleungdo Island, Korea. This is the first record of B. gelasinifer outside Japanese waters. B. gelasinifer is readily separated from B. granulimanus Yokoya, 1927, the only member of Betaeus from Korea by the morphological differences in the first pereopods and the diaeresis of uropod. Brief note on the armature of cutting edge of the chela of the left first pereopod in Korean female specimen of B. gelasinifer is provided.

최근 새우류의 분류학적 연구 결과, 징거미새우류 1종이 국내에서는 처음 보고되는 꼬마발톱새우속(Onycocaris)에 속하는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 꼬마발톱새우(Onycocaris callyspongiae)를 재기재하여 한국에서 처음 보고한다.

Two species of hippolytid shrimps, Eualus kuratai Miyake and Hayashi, 1967 and Heptacarpus igarashii Hayashi and Chiba, 1989, were collected at a sea cucumber farm from the East Sea. These species are described and illustrated for the first time in Korea. Eualus kuratai is closely related to E. middendorffi; however, it lacks a dorsomedian spine on the fourth and fifth abdominal somites. Heptacarpus igarashii can be easily distinguished from other Korean Heptacarpus species due to its short rostrum that lacks ventral teeth on margin. This report extends the previously known ranges from Japan and Korea. In Korea, both genera, Eualus and Heptacarpus, have seven species according to the present report, respectively; moreover, hippolytid shrimps now consist of 31 species of nine genera.

Two specimens of pontoniine shrimp, Periclimenes brevicarpalis (Schenkel, 1902), having a symbiotic relationship with sea anemones are reported for the first time in Korea. The specimens were collected by SCUBA diving in Jejudo Island. It has a transparent body with a few large white spots on the carapace, abdomen, telson and uropods. Blue bands are on the cheliped and pereiopods. Five brown eyespots with orange centers are on the telson and uropods. The morphology is described and illustrated with a color image of the living specimens. Two species of Korean Periclimenes, P. ornatus, and P. brevicarpalis, can be distinguished by the position of the anterior dorsolateral spine of the telson. This study extends its previously known range from Japan to Korea. Korean pontoniine now includes six species belonging to five genera of Conchodytes, Cuapetes, Onycocaris, Periclimenaeus, and Periclimenes.

The continuous taxonomic study on decapods from Korean waters revealed that the alpheid shrimps collected from Jejudo Island and Busan were identified as a species belonging to the genus Arete which is an unreported genus from Korean waters. The genus Arete can be distinguished from the most similar genus Athanas by the following. The chelae are broad and oval-shaped in Arete, but in Athanas, the chelae are more or less elongated. The number of carpal segments in the 2nd pereopod is four but five, exceptionally four or six in Athanas. The epipods are present on pereopod 1 and pereopod 2 in Arete, but on pereopod 1-3, exceptionally on pereopod 1 and pereopod 2 or pereopod 1-4 in Athanas. In this paper, Arete dorsalis is reported for the first time from Korean waters. Korean Alpheidae fauna now consists of 27 species of nine genera.

The pandalid shrimp Procletes levicarina (Bate, 1888) was newly collected from the western and southern waters of Jeju Island, Korea. This species is the only known member of the genus Procletes which belongs to the family Pandalidae. Morphological description and illustration with a color photograph of the species are given. With the addition of P. levicarina, the family Pandalidae in Korean waters consists of 10 species belonging to 5 genera.

Early zoeal stages of two snapping shrimps Alpheus digitalis De Haan, 1850 and Alpheus japonicus Miers, 1879 are described and illustrated in detail for the first time based on the laboratory-reared materials. The first zoeas of Alpheus are more related to those of Vexillipar than to Athanas, Automate, and Synalpheus by having rostrum absent, the tip of the endopod of the antenna with a long plumose seta as well as a spine, the endopod of the maxilla with a basal and two terminal setae, the exopod of the maxilla shorter than the endopod, and the endopod of the second maxilliped with a seta on the proximal segment. A list of larval descriptions and described stages of the Alpheidae reported from Indo-West Pacific waters are included.

1987년 9월 30일부터 1988년 3월 26일까지의 조사기간과 조사기간 이전에 제주도의 10개 지소에서 채집된 표본들을 동정하고 문헌상의 기록들을 종합하여 제주도 새우류의 분류목록을 작성하였다. 이 분류목록에는 12과 26종( 또는 아종) 이 포함되어 있다. 이 중에서 Palaemon(Palaemon) gravieri 와 Pandalus danae는 제주도에서 처음 기록되는 종들이다. 제주도의 새우류 26종은 한국기지종 83종 (또는 아종) 의 31%에 해당되며 26종 중에서 6종 ( 4%)은 제주도에서만 기록되었다. 2종의 담수종을 제외한 24종의 해양종중에서 9종 (37.5%) 이 남방형이었다.

새우류의 지속적인 분류학적 연구 결과 딱총새우류 2 종이 한국에서는 지금까지 보고 되지 않은 종으로 밝혀졌다 . 원통발딱총새우 (Alpheus paralcyone)와 해면원통발딱총새우 (A. spongiarum)를 재기재하고 한국에서 처음 보고한다. 이 2종은 딱총새우속의 crinitus 그룹에 속하며 ,한국산 딱총새우류는 6속, 18종으로 구성된다.
