This study examined the experiences and meanings of career transition becoming a counselor by examining the experiences of career transition process before two women became counselors through the narrative inquiry method. To do this, two counselors with career counseling qualifications and two or more career transition experiences were selected as research participants. The results are as follows. First, they had several career experiences without having the opportunity to think about their interests or aptitudes. Second, it was an experience that career transition adapts itself. Third, as they went through various occupations, they gradually went to the work and study they wanted. Fourth, They were satisfied with the profession of the counselor they had chosen, and they were inspecting themselves as a counselor. In this study, it is meaningful to accept the career transition as a part of life and to confirm the meaning of career transition experience as a counselor walking the path of counseling specialist.
This paper introduces quantitative tools for evaluating the relative efficiency of Career & Counseling Jobs in universities. As tools, it uses Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) developed by Charnes and Cooper. It finally selects 29 DMUs which are listed on the Ministry Of Education, Science And Technology(http://academyinfo.go.kr). We measures the technical efficiency of each DMU with the use of DEA-CRS, rather then DEA-VRS because DEA-CRS not only compares relative efficiencies but also implicitly considers economies of scale based on the assumption of linearity. We run a linear programming model Frontier Analyst Program for the estimation of the relative efficiencies of each DMU. The model also indicates the precise amount of inefficiencies for each input, which mean how much inputs are wasted for a given output and how much the university is inefficiently operated. This analysis helps to give guideline for the organization to construct a futureoriented operational strategy and also to show clear picture of contents of mismanagement for the past. The details of mismanagement are to be identified, analysed and finally corrected.
The 191 subjects of this study were counselors working with children under 18 years of age. The instrument was validated in an antecedent study and used after testing for reliability. Data were analyzed by Cronbach' a, quantification methods I, and multi-regression analysis. Results showed demographic variables at 5% of ad-$R^2$ over total burnout. Hobbies, counseling career, religion, and major field of study were significant. Marital status and caseload affected 'doubt about job.' Counseling field, qualifications and academic career affected 'negative personal relationship' and 'symptoms of somatization.' Psychological variables were 48% of ad-$R^2$ over total burnout. Self-esteem, type AB, self-insight and empathy ability for countertransference management ability were significant. Lower self-esteem, stronger type A personality, higher self-insight and lower empathy ability, produced higher degree of burnout.
Information-giving is very important skill in career education and career counseling. The purpose of this study was to analyse the definition and method of information-giving as a important counseling skills in the counseling textbooks. Research questions were as follows: First, what is the definition of information-giving? Second, what are the ways to give the information in counseling? 17 textbooks of counseling were reviewed. The following are the main findings. First, the definition of information-giving was summarized in two ways: (1) the meaning of information (2) the description of information-giving. The results revealed the reason why the definition of information-giving is vague and it is difficult to distinguish from other skills (ex: giving advice, providing interpretation). Second, the main methods of information-giving can be summarized as follows: (1) motivation and timing of information-giving (2) selection criteria of information-giving (3) procedure of information-giving (4) considerations of information-giving. Out of these methods, the textbooks do not provide much reference on 'selection criteria of information-giving and procedure of information-giving. These findings revealed the necessity of empirical study on the information-giving skills.
The purpose of this study is to develop the academic and career counseling program for students of engineering college who don't have aptitude in engineering. Therefore we began with analyzing the outcome of Holland career aptitude test from enrolled students of engineering college. The method of this study is first, we classified between students who have aptitude on engineering and who don't. Next, we compared grades of between them. Lastly, we studied the needs of the students who don't have aptitude in engineering. The final result and analysis of study were used for suggestion of develop academic and career counseling program for students of engineering college who don't have aptitude on engineering.
This study is preliminary study of the status of school counseling and demands for service at middle and high schools from universities to provide the youth middle and high schools in Changwon with counseling and educational service. The results of this research are below, First, the excessive workload became the most difficulties for operateschool counseling systems and counseling activities. Second, school counseling activities focused mainly on the formal and narrow areas of counseling such as career guidance, personality programs and intelligence test and so on. Fourth, the major offers from the teachers to counsel students in the school were advices, suggestions, career guidance, Preventative activities, and providing information through school counseling. Fifth, though the middle and high schools were in need of outside institutions related to counseling, It was difficult to get help because of being Ignorant of procedures or methods for using counseling and being lacking in enough information on such organizations. Sixth, ordinary students and students in danger of maladjustment besides problem students wanted to get a lot of help. Seventh, the counseling which are the most wanted from out of school was an opposite-sex relationship in the personal relationship, a lack of information on sex in the sexual fields, conflict with parents in the family problems, a strong unwillingness of study in the academical and future directional fields, and personalty difficulties In the psychological fields. Eighth, the subjects wanted to get counseling and educational service in regard to sex, addiction to PC, smoking, and ostracism and so on in counseling and education for young people. Ninth, education designed to have an adequate understanding of children turned out to be mostly needed as educational programs for parents Based on the above results, the proposals from universities for provide youth counseling and educational services are below. 1) setting up the positive publicity strategies E) developing and execution of various counseling and educational programs 3) expanding the counseling and education from maladjusted students to general students 4) expanding youth counseling and education to parental education and family counseling 5) continuous human resources improvement and training 6) reinforcement relationships with middle and high school organizations 7) building cooperation with local counseling organizations

The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze differences of perceived career barriers based on demographic characteristics of cyber university students. The results of this study will provide a valuable basis for guiding adult learners in their career development. Subjects included 937 adult learners at cyber universities in Seoul, Korea, aged 20 and above. Results were as follows: The level of career barriers perceived by females aged 20-29 who were unemployed and single were higher than that of males aged 30 to 59 who were employed and married. Female students were higher in 'anxiety of future', 'lack of interest', 'lack of job information', 'interpersonal difficulty'. The only component in which subjects aged 50-59 perceived higher than other age groups was 'conflict with important people'. There was no significant differences by grade. These results imply that the perception of the career barriers of adult learners should be considered in customizing career development programs and career counselling.
This study examined the aspects in elementary school students' career interest and career awareness by gender, age, and multi-cultural families/general families. The subjects were 341 elementary school students from multi-cultural families and general families. The results were as follows. First, there were significant differences in investigative, artistic, and social interests by gender. The children from multi-cultural families and general families showed no significant differences in career interest. Second, the children from general families had higher scores than those from multi-cultural families in self-awareness, occupational exploration, career attitude, and career awareness. And the girls had higher scores than boys in self-awareness, occupational exploration, and career awareness. Third, there were meaningful differences in career interest and career awareness by age. The younger children had higher scores in career interest and lower scores in career awareness. Fourth, the career interests had significant correlations with career awareness in both groups. And there were stronger correlations in general children. Fifth, the regression analyses showed that career interests had significant effects on career awareness in both groups, and there were higher effects in general children. The artistic interests in multi-cultural children and the social interest in general children had significant effects on career awareness. And the effect of multi-cultural families/general families was noticeable in occupational exploration, career attitude, and career awareness. The implication for multi-cultural career education and counseling practice are discussed based on the result of the present study.

Purpose: This study was conducted to test the effect of a Career Search Program on career search efficacy, career search behavior, and career decision making for nursing students. Methods: A non-equivalent pre-post test of a quasi-experimental design was used. Fifty first grade nursing students participated in the study with 22 in the experimental group and 28 in the control group. We used a Career Search Program which was held 6 times over 6 weeks, 90 minutes per session. Descriptive statistics, ${\chi}^2$-test, and independent t-test were used for statistical analysis with SPSS 19.0. Results: There were significant increases in career search efficacy (t=2.07, p=.044) and career search behavior(t=2.65, p=.011) in the experimental group compared to the control group. However, career decision making was not significantly changed (t=0.96, p=.342). Conclusion: These results suggest that a Career grade Search Program has an effect on increasing career search efficacy and career search behavior in first grade nursing students. In addition, more programs to impact career decision making should be developed for nursing college students.
The purpose of this study was to find out the effects of a career education program during a discretional activity class in elementary school. It established the following questions to achieve the objectives. First, does a career education program In a discretional activity class have an effect on elementary schooler's career maturity? Second, does a career education program in a discretional activity class make an influence on elementary schooler's self-concept? To settle these subjects, it assigned two classes in 5th grade of A elementary school, city of Anyang, Gyeonggi-do, experiment group and control group. It was applied the experiment group a career education program. As for measurement, it was used career maturity level test for elementary and middle schoolers' and 'the self-concept diagnostic test'. It was examined career maturity and self-concept of the groups through the pre-test post-test, applying cross-tabulation analysis to career choices pattern and t-test to career maturity level and self-concept. The results were as follows: First, students of experiment group showed meaningful differences in career choice pattern, career choice attitude, and career choosing skills compared to control group, and that presented a career education program made a positive impact on elementary schooler's career maturity. Second, it showed that there was a significant difference in self-concept, showing students of experiment group took better place. it is believed that a career education program had a potent influence on the self-concept of elementary students.
