Purpose : This study is descriptive correlation research aimed to examine knowledge and performance ability of cardiopulmonary resuscitation of student attending the college and provide basic materials in developing cardiopulmonary resuscitation program. Methods : Data collection was conducted with the 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade college students sampled randomly by giving them questionnaire from Sep. 1 to 4, 2008. It used the research instrument used by Choi Hyang Ok(2006) and revised and complemented by the researcher and 200 data excluding questionnaire showing unfaithful responses were used for analysis. Data collected were verified with technical statistics using SPSS/PC(version 12.0), t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation coefficient. Results : The results of this study are as follows. 1. Subjects' knowledge score of cardiopulmonary resuscitation was average .40(out of 1) and their performance ability score was average 2.39. 2. In the knowledge of cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to subjects' general characteristics, score was higher between over thirty and below twenty in age and in male subjects by sex and there were statistically significant differences(t=3.069, p=.029). 3. In the knowledge of cardiopulmonary resuscitation related to subjects' cardiopulmonary resuscitation, there were statistically significant differences in such variables as 'have you ever heard about cardiopulmonary resuscitation' (t=3.685, p=.000), 'presence or absence of education of cardiopulmonary resuscitation'(t=3.764, p=.000) and 'experience of observing cardiopulmonary resuscitation'(t=4.747, p=.000). In the performance ability of cardiopulmonary resuscitation by subjects, there were also statistically significant differences in such variables as 'have you ever heard about cardiopulmonary resuscitation' (t=2.269, p=.024), 'presence or absence of education of cardiopulmonary resuscitation' (t=3.541, p=.000) and 'experience of observing cardiopulmonary resuscitation' (t=8.118, p=,000). 4. Relation between the knowledge and the performance ability of cardiopulmonary resuscitation showed positive correlations as the more knowledge, the higher performance ability(r=.570, p=.000). Conclusion : Consequently, it was found that the knowledge and the performance ability of cardiopulmonary resuscitation by subjects were below the average and their levels of knowledge and performance ability were varied. Therefore, if 1 : 1 education with theory and practice considering knowledge and performance ability of each student in performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation education with college students is conducted, more lives can be saved by applying cardiopulmonary resuscitation not to be embarrassed when they encounter cardiac arrest case and contribute to the increase of survival of cardiac arrest patients.
Purpose: This study was undertaken to examine the effects regarding reeducation of cardiopulmonary resuscitation on persistence of nursing students' knowledge, performance, and self-efficacy. Methods: The research design for this study was a repeated experimental design featuring 35 female nursing students. Participants were educated using the standardized cardiopulmonary resuscitation protocol from the American Heart Association. Three months after the initial education, participants received reeducation about cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Knowledge and self-efficacy were measured before the initial education. Knowledge, performance, and self-efficacy were measured immediately after the initial education, 3 months later, and 6 months later. Collected data were analyzed using PASW Statistics 18.0. Results: Knowledge and self-efficacy significantly increased immediately after the initial education; knowledge, performance, and self-efficacy significantly decreased 3 months afterwards. No further decrease occurred until 3 months after reeducation. Conclusion: These results suggest that the duration between initial education and reeducation was insufficient, although the effects of cardiopulmonary resuscitation education were maintained 3 months after reeducation.

Purpose: With a view to providing basic data to develop cardiopulmonary resuscitation education suitable for elementary students, the cardiopulmonary resuscitation education was conducted to grasp students' knowledge, skills accuracy and the attitude change before and after the education. Methods: Convenience sampling was made on fourth and fifth graders(total-35 students) of S elementary school located in K city, Chungcheongnam-do, and this was a pre-experiment research designed before and after choosing a single group. In terms of methods, specifically we, researchers ; 1) Handed out questionnaires to students directly to make them fill in firsthand and collected the questionnaires. 2) Utilized PPT materials based on 2005 AHA guideline and DVD materials of AHA, to give students theoretical education of cardiopulmonary resuscitation. We used Anne/SkillReporter$^{(R)}$ torso produced by Leardal Inc, and Little Anne to conduct practical education individually. 3) Asked students to give Anne/SkillReporter$^{(R)}$ torso cardiopulmonary resuscitation five times with the ratio of 30 : 2, and then one of researchers filled in the evaluation sheet individually. 4) Evaluated the accuracy of students' ability to perform the resuscitation based on the record of Anne/SkillReporter$^{(R)}$ integrated printer(which was the objective tool to grasp students' skills accuracy). 5) Gave out questionnaires to make students fill them in and then collected them. after completing the practical evaluation. Results: 1) In case of the attitude about cardiopulmonary resuscitation, Students' confidency rose from 19.28%(before the education) to 93.57(after the education)- which is a positive change. 2) As the result of the education, some elementary students scored 11 points (full score-16 points), up from 5 points before the education, in terms of the knowledge about cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The average point also reached 13.14 points(after the education), jump from 8.37(before the education), which was the rise of 29.8%. 3) When it comes to the practical performance, the skills accuracy was 80.93% on average, and the calculation method was as follows: total items were 16, and each item was marked form 0 to 2 points, meaning the full score was 32 points. The minimum score was 19 points and the maximum was 32($M{\pm}SD=25.90{\pm}2.88$), which was calculated based on percentage. 4) Regarding skills accuracy, respiration accuracy(%)($M{\pm}SD=30.20{\pm}27.16$) was higher than pressure accuracy(%) ($M{\pm}SD=15.34{\pm}25.27$). Conclusion: The result showed that students' attitude on cardiopulmonary resuscitation changed positively. and meaningful difference(p = .00) existed in the change of students' knowledge. In terms of skills accuracy. chest compression and airway control showed high accuracy, but the result of Anne/SkillReporter$^{(R)}$ performance showed that the accuracy of chest compression was lower than that of mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to identify the effect of video programs of cardiopulmonary cerebral resuscitation (CPCR) education of cardiopulmonary cerebral resuscitation of nurses. Methods: The subjects of the study were 64 nurses working in a university hospital. Nurse's CPCR performance have been measured four times (pre-test, post-test at immediately, 3 months and 6 months after intervention). Data were collected from February to August 2013. Results: There were significant differences in knowledge, attitude, self-efficacy, and performance between groups by measure time. And there were significant interactions in knowledge, self-efficacy, and performance between groups, within groups, except for the attitude. The video programs of CPCR interventions appear to be effective in the improvement of knowledge, self-efficacy, and performance, as compared to the control group. Conclusion: The video programs of CPCR education was an effective intervention to improve and retain the level of knowledge, attitude, self-efficacy and performance. And the video program of CPCR education have an advantage of self-learning effect for nurses with shift work. Therefore video programs of CPCR education will be utilized for continuing nurse's education.
The Purpose of this study was to identify the educational effects of cardiopulmonary resuscitation using a PC skill-reporting system on the knowledge, Self-efficacy and skill performance ability of nursing students. The Participants were 57 nursing students from G metropolitan city, an experimental group of 29 subjects, and a control group of 28 students who were randomly sampled. Data were collected from 3 to 12 July of, 2013, and theory education and skill exposure programs for the experimental and control groups were conducted for 60 min. three times a week. The, PC skill-reporting system was used only with the experimental group. The collected data were analyzed with SPSS/WIN version 20.0 using ${\chi}^2$-tests, Fisher's exact probability tests, paired t-tests and t-tests. In the comparison of the two groups, the knowledge(t=-2.39, p=.022), self-efficacy (t=-3.45, p<.001) and skill performance ability(t=-2.52, p=.012) of the experiment group were significantly higher than those of the control group. Therefore, the adoption of instructional methods using a PC skill-reporting system is required to maximize the effects of cardiopulmonary resuscitation instruction.

Results : 1) In case of the attitude(confidence) about basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation, students' confidency rose from 14%(before the education) to 55.5%(after the education)- which was a positive change. 2) In case of the attitude(educational necessity) about basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation, students' confidency rose from 94.7%(before the education) to 100%(after the education)- which was a positive change. 3) As a result of the education, some female college students' scored knowledge about basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The average point also reached 88.95%(after the education), jump from 63.51%(before the education), which was the rise of 25.44%. 4) Regarding skill accuracy, pressure accuracy(%)($M{\pm}SD=91.37{\pm}14.16$) was higher than respiration accuracy(%)($M{\pm}SD=61.55{\pm}26.13$). Conclusion : The result showed that students' attitude(confidence, on basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation changed positively, and meaningful difference(p= .000) existed in the change of students' knowledge. Anne/Skill Reporter$^{(R)}$ performance showed that the accuracy of mouth-to-mouth resuscitation was lower than that of chest compression.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the cardiopulmonary resuscitation skills and teamwork of nurses in simulated cardiac arrests in the hospital. Methods: A descriptive study was conducted with 35 teams of 3 to 4 registered nurses each in a university hospital located in Seoul. A mannequin simulator was used to enact simulated cardiac arrest. Assessment included critical actions, time elapsed to initiation of critical actions, quality of cardiac compression, and teamwork which comprised leadership behavior and communication among team members. Results: Among the 35 teams, 54% recognized apnea, 43% determined pulselessness. Eighty percent of the teams compressed at an average elapsed time of $108{\pm}75$ seconds with 35%, 36%, and 67% mean rates of correct compression depth, rate, and placement, respectively. Thirty-seven percent of the teams defibrillated at $224{\pm}67$ seconds. Leadership behavior and communication among team members were absent in 63% and 69% of the teams, respectively. Conclusion: The skills of the nurses in this study cannot be considered adequate in terms of appropriate and timely actions required for resuscitation. Future resuscitation education should focus on improving the quality of cardiopulmonary resuscitation including team performance targeting the first responders of cardiac arrest.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness and retention period of immediate remediation for infant cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in child care teachers. Methods: This study used a nonequivalent comparison pre- and post-test design to measure knowledge about and confidence in infant CPR and an interrupted time-series design to determine skill performance. The experimental group (n=25) received both immediate remediation and video learning for infant CPR, and the comparison group (n=28) received video learning only. Knowledge and confidence were measured before and after 4 weeks. Their skill performance was tested immediately, and 4 weeks, 8 weeks, 12 weeks, and 24 weeks after intervention. Data analysis consisted of ${\chi}^2$ tests, t-tests, paired t-tests, and a generalized linear mixed model. Results: There were significant increases in knowledge and confidence within the experimental group. Skill performance showed a significant difference according to the group factor (F=10.81, p=.002) and measurement time (F=146.80, p<.001). The experimental group maintained significantly higher skill performance than did the comparison group. Conclusion: These findings support the necessity of immediate remediation education for infant CPR to maintain skill performance. In addition, appropriate renewal time and the improvement of training programs for child care teachers are necessary.
