자동차 외형설계곡면의 검사를 위한 효율적인 반사선의 생성 (Efficient generation of reflection lines to evaluate car body surfaces)

  • In the process of car body design, various surfaces are generated from the given boundary curves. Depending upon the method of the surface generation and the quality of the boundary curves provided, the resulting surfaces may have global or local irregularities in many cases. Thus it would be necessary for the designer to evaluate the surface quality and to modify the surface or to use the different generation method based on the evaluation results. This capability is very important because the defect of the surface quality detected in the production stage will require the rework of the dies and will cause a big loss in cost and time. A method of surface interrogation using reflection line is introduced. In this paper, We applied reflection mapping to generate reflection lines on the trimmed NURBS surface. Since reflection lines are obtained from reflection mapping that uses simple and physically acceptable mapping algorithm, they can be efficiently used to simulate the reflection test on the real part in the production line.

  • Using industrial robots and sensors, we developed an inline car body inspection system which proposes high flexibility and sufficient accuracy. Car Body Inspection(CBI) cell consists of two industrial robots, two corresponding carriages, camera vision system, a process computer with multi-tasking ability and several LDS's. As industrial robots guarantee sufficient repeatabilities, the CBI cell adopts the concept of relative measurement instead of that of absolute measurement. By comparing the actual measured data with reference data, the dimensional errors of the corresponding points can be calculated. The length of the robot arms changes according to ambient temperature and it affects the measuring accuracy. To compensate this error, a robot arm calibration process was realized. By measuring a reference jig, the differential changes of the robot arms due to temperature fluctuation can be calculated and compensated.

  • Fatigue fracture behavior of a hybrid joint between side-panel and under-frame by riveting and adhesive bonding has been evaluated. Two kinds of joint specimens based on real geometry were fabricated for shearing test as well as bending test. Static and cyclic loadings were used for fatigue assessment. Fatigue fracture results obtained by such experiments were reflected in modifications of design parameters of the hybrid joint.

객차의 현가장치 변수가 상하진동에 미치는 영향 (Effect of the Parameter of the Suspension System on the the Vertical Vibration of the Passenger Vehicle)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of the parameters of the suspension system in railway rolling-stock for KT-23 type passenger vehicle. According to the results of simulation and the field test, Optimal condition was obtained for the stiffness ratio of the primary spring and the secondary of the suspension system. When the stiffness ratio was increased, the vibration was increased on the car body and decreased on the bogie, and ride quality are getting worse because of increase of the vertical natural frequency of the car body. The results of this study are usefull to improve the technology of the ride quality of KT-23 type vehicle.

  • Heat treatment for car body molds is mainly a manual process performed by a worker. The performance of this process is affected by workers' skill level, and has limitation in maintaining uniform product quality. In this study, we developed a diode laser heat treatment robot system that implements an OLP type simulator to overcome the limitation of manual process, and to improve and stabilize the quality level. In addition, we verified the efficiency of the robot system and mechanism stability from the early stage through design verification and simulated analysis in the development stage. In addition, we carried out a field test to study the way to establish optimized D/B for diode laser heat treatment criteria for car body molds, such as heat treatment speed, interval, etc. via site experiment.

일반화 자유경계 모드 감도법을 이용한 차체구조물의 모델개선 (Model Updating of a Car Body Structure Using a Generalized Free-Interface Mode Sensitivity Method)

  • It is necessary to develop an efficient analysis method to identify the dynamic characteristics of a large mechanical structure and update its finite element model. That is because these processes need the huge computation of a large structure and iterative estimation due to the use of the first- order sensitivity. To efficiently carry out these processes, a new method, called the generalized free-interface mode sensitivity method, has been proposed in the authors' preceeding paper. This method is based on substructuring approach such as a free-interface method and a generalized synthesis algorithm. In this paper, the proposed method is applied to the model updating of a car body structure to verify its accuracy and reliability for a large mechanical structure.

  • Typically, robot system configured by articulated robot manipulator with 1 DOF transfer unit is being applied in automotive manufacturing automation process. Especially, 1 DOF transfer unit is necessary to extend workspace of robot manipulator. In this configuration, because transfer unit works only one direction, robot manipulator only works in one side in case of car body painting or sealing automation process. it is necessary three robot manipulator system at least. In this paper, in order to robot manipulator works effectively in car body sealing automation application, we are suggested omni-directional manipulator system and conducted studying on redundancy resolution method to solve manipulability-optimal problem.

  • 소방자동차를 비롯한 모든 자동차의 비툴립 강성이 약하면 차체에 크혜이 발생함과 동시에 고유진 동수가 낮아져 진동소음 발생의 원인이 된다. 이 논문은 최소한의 중량증가로 비틀림 강성을 최대한 중 가시키는 방안올 제시한 것에 관한 것으로, 방안 검토를 위하여 탄성론을 이용한 이론해석을 실시하였 고, 또한 이의 검증을 위하여 유한요소법에 의한 해석 및 실제 차체를 이용한 실험을 질시하였다. 본 논 문에서 사용한 자동차는 숭용차를 사용하였다. 그 이유는 실험 및 계산이 용이하고, 또한 계산결과를 소방자동차 퉁을 비롯한 모든 자동차에 적용 할 수 있기 때문이다.

  • Using composite materials for lilting train system has many advantages such as manufacturing variety, specific high-strength & stiffness characteristics, and long-life durability, but the strongest advantage could be the possibility of lightweight product. In the leading countries, the composite materials are used for the material fer drivers' cabs, interior/exterior equipments for railway train, and it is now developing the composite materials applied for the train car body structure. In this paper, we examine the use of composite materials for the drivers' cabs and interior/exterior equipments for the developing tilting train in Korea, and review the car body design using composite materials.

차체 셀프-피어싱 리벳 접합의 구조강성 및 피로수명 평가 (Assessment of Structural Stiffness and Fatigue Life in Self-Piercing Rivet(SPR) Joint of Car Body)

  • Recently, Self Piercing Rivet(SPR) has been spotlighted in the automotive industry as a substitutive resort of spot welding and has also been watched by the designer as lightening a car body due to their superior assembly processes. Fatigue behavior of SPR joint needs to be investigated experimentally and numerically to predict its structural stiffness and fatigue life. Testing of lap-shear specimens with various material combinations is performed to obtain the joining strength and the fatigue life of SPR connections. The simulation of SPR lap-shear specimens is also conducted to obtain the structural stiffness of SPR connections under different material combinations. A Finite element model of the SPR lap-shear specimen is developed using a FEMFAT SPR pre-processor. The fatigue lift of SPR specimen is predicted using a FEMFAT 4.4e based on the liner finite element analysis.
