  • In this paper, we design and implement an Application based on android platform, which can control arduino Prime Smart Car using Bluetooth communication. This Application consist of Bluetooth communication module, manual mode module, and line-tracer mode module. In the Bluetooth communication module, it checks the on/off status of Smartphone Bluetooth. If Bluetooth status is off, it activates Bluetooth, selects the corresponding device from Bluetooth device list, and connects with a pair. In order to reduce coding time, we implements Bluetooth communication using inherited class from android Bluetooth package. In the manual mode module, it implements six direction moving button and stop button, which can control arduino Prime Smart Car. In the line-tracer mode module, it implements Prime Smart Car with self-driving function using TCRT5000 sensor. And moving button and stop button is disabled.

  • The engineer's creativity is becoming more important as high value-added products are required. In this paper, a new curriculum model for creative engineering education has been developed. This study proposes the method of applying Chem-E-Car to the chemical engineering education for students to develop creativity. The Chem-E-Car is used as a given problem to students for developing safety study, teamwork, communication skill and creativity. The PBL(problem based Learning) is used in the class. The problem in this case is to make the Chem-E-Car, a shoebox sized car powered only by chemical reactions. Four types of Chem-E-Car such as turbine, rocket, voltaic cell and fuel cell are developed through out this program. The fuel cell powered Chem-E-Car is emphasized to students as new problems with constraints. This paper shows how the students solved the problems with creativity.

  • In recent years, rapid-increasing market share of compact cars and SUVs has brought for both consumer and automaker to pay more attention on crash compatibility between the compact passenger vehicles and the light trucks (i.e., Pickups and SUVs). Vehicle compatibility regarding both self and partner protection in frontal crash of different class vehicles is one of hot issues in vehicle safety. Furthermore, it is expected that the amendment of UNECE-Regulation 94 to implement compatibility issues in couple of coming years. In this study, conceptual design of compatibility compliant frontal vehicle structure which subjects to improve? the distribution of frontal crash loading and structural engagement between vehicles is introduced. The effects of proposed vehicle structure on both possible candidates (i.e. FWRB, FWDB and PDB) for a compatibility evaluation test procedure and car-to-car crash are also investigated.

  • In designing Intelligent Traffic Systems, it should be necessary to consider telecommunications, appearance, environment, auxiliary functions, safety, and so on. Also, in choosing a car, a consumer considers those properties. This paper tried to elucidate the fact that car color has a very significant meaning for car safety when administrating intelligent traffic services and making car-purchasing decision. We first studied on occurrence probability of car accident according to car color that has something to do with car safety. Then, we studied on the concepts of advancing color and receding color. Advancing color causes less accidents since the color looks closer than it actually is. And receding color causes more accidents since the color looks farther than it actually is. And we classified car colors into eight classes and assign their ranking to each class, considering the number of car accidents. We tried to verify our research by use of telephone questionnaire for residents in Kunsan, Republic of Korea.

  • It has well known that the congestion of traffic and it's distribution. There are very important problems in the traffic control systems. In this paper, we will purpose an ITFS(Intelligent Traffic Forecasting System) which can determine the car classes and transport them to ITS(Intelligent Traffic control System). The system will be used the Inductive Loop Detector(ILD)and the Fuzzy logic and shown the effectiveness by the computer simulation.

  • The purpose of this study was to categorize lifestyle patterns and to define the characteristics of the lifestyle of middle class residents in Seoul. Questionnaires were administered to 1572 homemakers in Seoul. Statistics with the SPSS software package for factor analysis and F-test was used. The results showed that the type of car which the residents owned was a major indicator to classify SEC(Socio Economic Class). The middle class was categorized into four groups which were relevant classifications based on determining indicators obtained from previous studies: the lower middle class which owned a Tico was classified into the Economy Concerned Lifestyle category the middle class which owned an Elantra was classified into the Health Concerned and Hobby Oriented Lifestyle category the upper middle calss which owned a Sonata was classified into the Interior Design and fashion Oriented Lifestyle category and the lower upper class which owned a Grandeur was classified into the Hobby and Fashion oriented Lifestyle category.

  • In this study, there is an investigation about the sound quality of automotive horn that attached to luxury sedans. In order to define a questionnaire of horn sound quality the factor analysis is conducted. Ten automotive horns are selected for this research and ten passenger cars(nine is luxury sedan and one economy class car). Luxury is used for the questionnaire as an attribute for the sound quality of car horn. The interior noises for ten test cars are recorded and used for the subjective analysis of car horn sound. In the paper, new sound metric for the car horn sound is presented. The new sound metric is used for the objective sound index for the prediction of subjective sound quality of car horn.

  • This paper uses the sensibility engineering method to find the model of automobile most appealing to buyers in the $4^{th}$ and $5^{th}$ tier cities of China. Samples of class A & A0 cars were shown to 96 subjects in those cities to investigate their responses in relation to the concepts 'modern' and 'smart'. The result shows that even though men tend to be more sensitive to automobile models in general than women are, both genders showed similar responses to specific models when they were asked to identify a model 'magnificent', 'modern', 'lively', 'smart' or 'cute'. This implies that despite the gender differences in terms of aesthetic sensitivity, both men and women share similar taste in relation to the appearance of cars. Apart from aesthetics, however, men tend to pay a greater attention to the details of design and material used for the cars, while women tend to pay attention to higher priced and better looking cars.

  • LED lighting, considered to be a new growth industry, has attracted a great deal of attention due to its higher illumination and longer life time than existing light sources. In this study, high-efficiency and long-life LED fog lamps for automobiles were developed, which can substitute the existing 27 W halogen fog lamps for a used car market. For this purpose, the number of LED modules, the body, heat sink, and the output of the fog lamp were first optimized through a numerical analysis. Then, a 10 W-class LED fog lamp was prototyped based on the optimized numerical model, and the performance of the fog lamp was successfully verified through the experiments.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide ergonomic research data for the redesign of the car license plate in Korea. Several alternatives having various combinations of fonts, stroke-width ratios, color contrasts, and arrays were considered in order to find the best one in terms of the reading-distance and the misreading-rate. Experiments investigating the reading-distance, misreading-rates were conducted. In addition, the alternatives were tested in a real driving situation. The results can be summarized as follows : The typography having mixed type numeric forms with quasi-Gothic and NAMEL, stroke-width ratio of 1:7 .approx. 1: 8, the black on yellow contrast showed a good reading-distance. The array with Hangul(showing territorial office and use-sign) at the upper row and 6 mumbers ( showing car class-sign and serial number) at the lower row showed relatively low misreading-rate.
