  • Protogeton incertus Mayer, 1903 belonging to the family Caprellidae was collected from the South Sea, Korea. This species is very similar to Protogeton inflatus Mayer, but it is only distinguishable by the presence of biarticulate mandibular palp. Previous studies provided a very brief description of the species and lacked detailed illustration. In this study, the Korean Protogeton incertus is fully illustrated based on the mature and immature specimens.

  • A newly recorded species Caprella mutica Schurin, 1935 belonging to the family Caprellidae Leach, 1814 was collected from the East Sea, Korea. Caprella mutica is native to the north-east Asia but is a well-known cosmopolitan and invasive species in many areas. This species is morphologically highly similar to C. acanthogaster Mayer, 1890. However, it is distinguished from a combination of the characteristics of the head, pereonites 1-2, and gnathopod 2. In this study, the Korean C. mutica is fully illustrated based on the mature specimens and compared to C. acanthogaster.

  • A newly recorded species Caprella arimotoi Takeuchi, 1993, belonging to the family Caprellidae Leach, 1814, was collected from the South Sea, Korea. This species is morphologically very similar to Caprella verrucosa Boeck, 1871, with blunt dorsal projections on pereonites, oval-shaped propodus on gnathopod 2, and grasping spines on the pereopods 5-7. Caprella arimotoi originated from C. verrucosa and are difficult to distinguish because they have mixed characteristics. However, C. arimotoi was classified because of several morphological differences. The newly recorded species C. arimotoi is discernible from C. verrucosa by a forwardly curved anterodorsal projection on head, elongated gills, slender pereopod 7, and lacking ventrolateral projections on pereonites 2-7. To date, C. arimotoi has only been reported in Japanese waters. So, our record is the first record in Korean waters and outside of Japan. In this study, the Korean C. arimotoi is illustrated based on the mature male specimens with a brief description of the female, focusing on the sexually dimorphic characters.

  • A new species of Caprellidae, Ca;rella multitberculum collected from 3 localities in the coast of the East Sea in Korea, is described and illustrated. This new species is very close to Caprella soyo Arimoto, 1934 from Japan, but is distinguished from it by having the more numerous small tubercles on body surface, the shorter flagellum of antenna 1 and the smaller appendages of abdomen. Moreover, the shape of propodus of gnathopod 2 reveals several prominent differences between the two.

  • Hemiaegina minuta Mayer, 1890 belonging to the family Caprellidae was collected from Jeju Island in Korea. This species has extensive habitats worldwide but it is the first record of the genus Hemiaegina from Korean waters. This monotypic species of the genus Hemiaegina has the following characteristics: gnathopod 1, propodus with a roundly swollen proximal projection; gnathopod 2, propodus with a bilobed triangular process; pereonite 2 with a pair of projections ventrally; and pereopod 7, propodus with a serrated palm. In this study, H. minuta is fully illustrated based on the mature specimens.

  • From an examination of caprellid specimens collected from Korea, we found a new species belonging to the genus Perotripus. This new species is clearly distinguished from two previously recorded species, P. brevis and P. keablei, in having an acute projection and blunt apex of distal segment of pereopod 5. This genus Perotripus is reported from Korea for the first time. We described it with figures in detail. As a result, Korean caprellid fauna consists of 35 species in seven genera.

  • Eight caprellids are collected from the several islands off Yeonggwang, Jeollanam-do at June 2007. Among them Caprella chelimana Mayer, 1903 is newly added to the Korean caprellid fauna. We described this species with illustrations and mentioned some differences from Mayer's original descriptions. Caprella subtilis is also the first record since Mayer reported this species from East Sea (Sea of Japan) in 1903.

  • Seventeen caprellid species are reported from adjacent waters, of the Goheung Peninsula, Jeollanam-do in June, 2008. Among them Paracaprella crassa Mayer, 1903 is newly added to the Korean fauna. We described this species with illustrations and mentioned some differences from the original description and subsequent redescriptions. As a result, Korean caprellid fauna consists of 34 species in 6 genera.

  • In order to know the fauna of Korean Caprellidae, the authors examined the materials which were collected from many places of East Sea, South Sea and YelloW sea in 1955, 1964 and during the period from 1969 to 1975. Collections were made chiefly by hand with pincette at intertidal zones and with gill nets at subtidal zones. The results of the identification were found to be 11 species of Caprella of which the following 9 species were hitherto unrecorded from Korean waters. 1. Caprella californica Stimpson, 1857 2. C. danilevskii Czerniavski, 1868 3. C. decipiens Mayer, 1890 4. C. equilibra Say, 1818 5. C. kroeyeri De Haan, 1849 6. C. polyacantha Utinomi, 1947 7. C. scaura Templeton, 1836 8. C. tsugarensis Utinomi, 1947 9. C. verrucosa Boeck, 1871
