This research analyzed Raise Capital type and Investment Efficiency for non-profit hospitals in Korea. 152 cases of financial information from 2007 to 2010 were utilized for analysis. As a result of analysis, Raise Capital for Borrowings to total assets was primarily used, taking around 40% on average, and the method of Raise Capital with significant difference among Medical Institutions was Liabilities in Excluded Borrowings to Total Assets and Capital Stock & Capital Reserves to Total Assets. Besides, the relation between Invested capital and Investment efficiency was opposite each other in the non-profit hospitals, and Region was an important element influencing over Productivity per Value Added. In addition, in the investment activity of non-profit hospitals in the light of Investment Efficiency, only hospitals among Medical Institution types had a character of Capital Intensive, and General Hospital and Geriatric & Long-term Medical Care Hospital among Medical Institution types showed a character of Labor Intensive in the light of Performance.
This paper examines the investment efficiency of Korean venture capitals during 1987~2006 (20 years), focusing on their selection capability. Despite the Korean government's efforts, venture capital industry has evolved in a slow speed. Since the genesis of venture paradigm in Korea at 1997, venture capital industry as a macro unit has been fully discussed in Korean contexts. But venture capital's activities at micro level regarding each investment's outcome have not been examined. This study attempts to fill the voids of micro knowledge about each investment success rates by venture capitals. We analyzed venture investment records in 4,791 venture startups and their success rates. Their investment criteria were relevant to high potential industries and amount of tangible assets. But their criteria were not relevant to R&D intensity and financial growth of venture firms, which may indicate low level of maturity about Korean venture capital industry. We found that Korean venture capital's investment pattern may be originated from the low return of investment, so that efficiency of IPO markets is a prerequisite for the upgrade of venture capitals' efficiency. Some policy implications are discussed.

This study aims to investigate the relationship between foreign direct investment (FDI) and economic growth at the provincial level by using time-series data in Binh Dinh from 1997 to 2019. We applied the quantitative approaches Vector Autoregression (VAR) and Autoregressive Distributed Lags (ARDL) in the model, which includes economic growth, real foreign direct investment capital, ratio of trained workers, and infrastructure. The results show that all these variables are stationary at the first difference. In ARDL analysis, we found that the economic growth positively affects FDI attraction. However, there is no evidence of the effect of FDI on economic growth in the condition of low capital implemented. Moreover, findings also show that the impact of FDI on economic growth is influenced by two factors: infrastructure and human capital. The lack of human capital, which is trained personnel and infrastructure, is the main barrier hindering and inhibiting FDI's contribution to local economic growth. In order to improve the efficiency of FDI on economic growth in the future, it is suggested that the Binh Dinh government should have proper policies in terms of the infrastructure, the human capital investment. They would allow Binh Dinh to enhance the capital absorptive capacity and capital efficiency.
Purpose: Research and development of human capital in countries bring sustainable development to the nations. Especially for developing countries, the attraction of foreign direct investment not only brings economic growth to the country but also contributes to improving human capital. This study aims to assess the impact of foreign direct investment on human capital in ASEAN countries. Research design, data and methodology: With data collected from ASEAN countries from 1990 to 2019, panel data analysis is performed with revised model types (the Pooled OLS, Fixed effect model, Random effect model and regression with Driscoll-Kraay standard errors). Result: The results of the regression analysis show that FDI has a positive impact on human capital. At the same time, the study also found that public investment in education also positively affects human capital; the life expectancy factor does not affect human capital. Conclusions: With this research result, the authors also proposed a number of solutions to improve human capital by attracting FDI and improving the efficiency of investment for the education of ASEAN countries. Besides, public expenditure on education also plays an important role in raising human capital. Therefore, investment in education should be promoted further in the future.
Economic development is usually identified with the increased of G.N.P and capital formation connected directly wi:11 the net increase of land, structure, commodity, stocks and foreign claims, etc. The increase of G.N.P. is driving at capital formation. The usual concept of capital formation for economic development misses the important productivity factor of human capital. Because it is now increasingly realized that a massive injection of material into production will 11 not necessarily explain a successful productivity unless that country already possesses 1 suitable human capital. Human capital is built of educational investment which is related to the physical capital. Many statistical investigations identified this reality. Of late years, a great crowd of economists studying an the problem of economic development have turned their attention towards human capital. Thereupon, this paper has dealt with the fact that educational investment affects physical capital and employment. The qualitative increment of human capital will increase the productivity but excessive expenditure on human capital will squander a physical capital. In designing a strategy of human capital for economic development, one needs to consider tile level of educational investment because educational investment of developing countries will be accasionaly made or marred by investment level and direction.
This article is to analyse the economic efficiency of capital market, which plays a role of resource allocation in terms of financial claims such as stock and bond. It provides various contributions to the welfare theoretical aspects of modern capital market theory. The key feature that distinguishes the theory described here from traditional welfare theory is the presence of uncertainty. Securities has time dimensions and the state and outcome of the future are really uncertain. This problem resulting from this uncertainty can be solved by complete market, but it has a weak power to explain real stock market. Capital Market is faced with the uncertainity because it is a kind of incomplete market. Individuals and firms in capital market made their consumption-investment decision by their own criteria, i. e. the maximization of expected utility form intertemporal consumption and the maximization of the market value of firm. We noted that allocative decisions that had to be made in the economy could be naturally subdivided into two groups. One set of decisions concerned the allocation of first-period resources among consumption $C_i$, investment in risky firms $I_j$, and riskless investment M. The other decisions concern the distribution among individuals of income available in the second period $Y_i(\theta)$. Corresponing to this grouping, the theoretical analysis of efficiency has also been dichotomized. The optimality of the distribution of output in the second period is distributive efficiency" and the optimality of the allocation of first-period resources is 'the efficiency of investment'. We have found in the distributive efficiency that the conditions for attainability is the same as the conditions for market optimality. The necessary and sufficient conditions for attainability or market optimality is that (1) all utility functions are such that -$\frac{{U_i}^'(Y_i)}{{U_i}^"(Y_i)}={\mu}_i+{\lambda}Y_i$-linear risk tolerance function where the coefficients ${\mu}_i$ and $\lambda$ are independent of $Y_i$, and (2) there are homogeneous expectations, i. e. ${\Large f}_i(\theta)={\Large f}(\theta)$ for every i. On the other hand, the efficiency of investment has disagreement about optimal investment level. The investment level for market rule will not generally lead to Pareto-optimal allocation of investment. This suboptimality is caused by (1)the difference of Diamond's decomposable production function and mean-variance valuation model and (2) the selection of exelusive investment or competitive investment. In conclusion, this article has made an analysis of conditions and processes of Pareto-optimal allocation of resources in capital marker and tried to connect with significant issues in modern finance.
Purpose: This study predicted cost asymmetry as a determinant of investment efficiency, and empirically analyzed the relationship between cost stickiness and investment efficiency. Research design, data and methodology: Using a sample of 4,382 Korean firm-year observations over 2011-2017 period, I examined the relationship between cost stickiness and investment efficiency. Asymmetrical cost behavior is measured as model of Homburg and Nasev (2008) and model of Park, Koo, and Pae (2012). Investment efficiency is measured as Chen, Hope, Li, and Wang (2011)'s model. Results: Firms with cost stickiness are less efficient in their investment than firms with non-cost stickiness. In other words, cost stickiness is an empirical result that supports the previous research on cost decision-making from perspective of managers pursuing private benefits due to information asymmetry. Conclusions: By showing that the manager's decision-making on the cost behavior affects the investment efficiency corresponding to capital management, the implications for the mechanism for efficient capital management are provided. Through the empirical results, it was shown that the cost stickiness is a product of opportunistic cost decision-making due to information asymmetry, and it is to present evidence that expands the meaning of the causes of asymmetric cost behavior.

This study empirically analyzes the effect of firm overinvestment propensity on the value relevance of capital investment. In order to verify this point, this study attempts to analyze the value relevance of overinvestment firms' capital investments. The analysis was performed according to the model of Biddle et al. (2009) and McNichols and Stubben (2008) on overinvestment propensity for analysis, and the results are as follows. First, in terms of overinvestment, corporate capital investment shows negative value relevance, so the excessive investments above reasonable levels have reduced firm's value. In contrast, the value relevance for capital investment showed a positive value for firms whose managerial propensity changed, that is, from under-investment in the previous year, it shifted to overinvestment in the current year. Second, as a result of analyzing the value relevance of the investment increase according to the investment propensity, the overinvestment firms showed negative values and the underinvested firms showed positive values; thus, the value relevance of the increase in investment was opposite to the investment propensity of the firm. These findings confirm that the stock market differentially evaluates investment efficiency according to investment propensity, continuity, and investment alterations, and reflects it appropriately in the firm's value.
This study investigates the facilitating factors of FDI (foreign direct investment) inflows in 15 developing countries of three continents (Asia, Latin America, and Africa) using fixed-effect panel regression analysis with 30-year macro socio-economic data. The facilitating factors of FDI inflows in each continent differed. In Asia, labor compensation, GDP, consumer expenditure, human capital, and export facilitated FDI inflows in decreasing order, as did export, total factor productivity, GDP, and human capital in Latin America, and investment expenditure, human capital, government expenditure, and export in Africa. Most importantly, the character of cost saving efficiency-seeking investment was very strong in Asia. Also, third-party export-oriented investment and economic growth-oriented investment were shown in Latin America and Africa, respectively.
