Comparison between DSC and previous algorithms for edge detection (윤곽선 검출을 위한 DSC 와 기존 알고리즘 비교)

  • 영상에서 Edge는 영역의 경계를 표현하며. 특징으로는 픽셀 밝기의 불연속점을 나타낸다. 이러한 Edge를 찾아내는 Edge detection은 설러 가지 영상 처리 기법에서 유용하게 사용되고 있다. 현재까지 많은 알고리즘들이 제안되었으며. 이 논문에서는 이러한 알고리즘들에 대한 장단점을 파악하고, 미분 연산자를 이용한 Sobel, Prewitt. Roberts. Laplacian, 그리고 Canny 마스크를 이용한 윤곽선 검출방법과 Discrete Sing에ar Convolution (DSC) 알고리즘을 이용한 윤곽선 검출방법을 백색 가우시안 잡음 환경과 비 잡음 환경에서 비교해 보았다.

  • 조명 및 반사광의 성질에 의해 블러링이 발생하고 이런 영상을 인식하는 경우 정확한 에지 검출이 어렵게 된다. 이를 최적으로 검출하기 위해 일정하게 에지를 검출할 수 있는 가우시안 함수와 2차 미분 함수를 합성한 새로운 하이브리드 함수를 제안하고 실제 영상과 컨볼루션 한 후 함수의 $\sigma$값을 변화시키면서, Canny 알고리즘의 방향성 에지 검출 방법을 적용하여 에지를 검출하였다. 그 결과 Sobel, Robert, Canny 에지 검출방법보다 0.2~14㏈ 정도 안정적으로 에지가 검출되었다.

  • Lane keeping assist and departure prevention system are the key functions of ADAS. In this paper, we propose lane detection method which uses Gaussian function based RANSAC. The proposed method consists mainly of IPM (inverse perspective mapping), Canny edge detector, and Gaussian function based RANSAC (Random Sample Consensus). The RANSAC uses Gaussian function to extract the parameters of straight or curved lane. The proposed RANSAC is different from the conventional one, in the following two aspects. One is the selection of sample with different probability depending on the distance between sample and camera. Another is the inlier sample score that assigns higher weights to samples near to camera. Through simulations, we show that the proposed method can achieve good performance in various of environments.

Vision Processing for Precision Autonomous Landing Approach of an Unmanned Helicopter (무인헬기의 정밀 자동착륙 접근을 위한 영상정보 처리)

  • In this paper, a precision landing approach is implemented based on real-time image processing. A full-scale landmark for automatic landing is used. canny edge detection method is applied to identify the outside quadrilateral while circular hough transform is used for the recognition of inside circle. Position information on the ground landmark is uplinked to the unmanned helicopter via ground control computer in real time so that the unmanned helicopter control the air vehicle for accurate landing approach. Ground test and a couple of flight tests for autonomous landing approach show that the image processing and automatic landing operation system have good performance for the landing approach phase at the altitude of $20m{\sim}1m$ above ground level.

  • In this paper, system divide into the edge extraction, labeling, clustering, and South Korea's traditional color combination and identifying to identify Korea's traditional colors. Edge is extracted using Canny operator. And given the label, and clustering to ensure the quality of the cluster. Finally, we identify color harmony by organizing and comparing primary color with secondary color configuration table Korea traditional color.

  • 본 논문에서는 에지 검출기에 의해 다양한 명암이 존재하는 차량 번호판 영역의 사각형 에지를 검출시 사용되는 소벨 및 Prewitt, Roberts, 가우시안의 라플라시안, 그리고 Canny 검출기를 사용하여 처리 속도와 에지 검출의 정확성을 실험하여 각 연산자의 성능을 평가하였다. 기존의 Sobel 에지 검출기는 적응적 임계값을 구하지 않으면 다양한 조명의 영향에 강인하지 못하다. 또한 Canny 에지 검출기는 조명의 영향에 강인하기는 하나, 계산량이 Sobel 보다는 많아 처리 속도가 느리다. 색상에 의해 번호판 후보 영역을 추출한 후 에지 검출기 번호판 내의 명암이 둘 이상으로 차량 번호판 영역에 대해서, 다양한 에지 검출기를 적용하여 속도와 에지 검출 성능을 비교 평가하고자 한다.

  • We propose a method to identify vehicle type by the formula of distance between feature points of vehicle and proportional rate of size. Car images are converted from the basic RGB model to the gray color model. Perform Canny Edge Direction to remove the background image of the car. The desired feature points are obtained through contour extraction.

Segmentation of Scalp and Skull in brain MR Images Using CannyEdge Level Set Method

  • In this paper, we present a novel automatic algorithm for scalp and skull segmentation in T1-weighted head MR images. First, the scalp and skull part are constructed by using intensity threshold. Second, the scalp outer surface is extracted based on an active level set method. Third, the skull inner surface is extracted using a canny edge detection algorithm. Finally, the fast sweeping, tagging and level set methods are applied to reconstruct surfaces from the detected points in three-dimensional space. The results of the new segmentation algorithm on MRI data acquired from eight persons were compared with manual segmented data. The average similarity indices for the scalp and skull segmented regions were equal to 84.42% for the test data.

  • The edge detection is a pre-processing of such as image segmentation, image recognition, etc, and many related studies are being conducted both in domestic and abroad. Representative edge detection methods are Sobel, Prewitt, Laplacian, Roberts and Canny edge detectors. Such existing methods are possible for superb detections of edges if edges are detected from videos without noises. However, for video degraded by the salt-and-pepper noise, the edge detection characteristic is shown to be insufficient due to the noise influence. Therefore, in this study, the area is separated as the top, down, left and right from the mask's center pixel first to acquire a superb edge detection characteristic from the video damaged by the salt-and-pepper noise. And the algorithm that detects the final edge by applying the directional mask on the assumed factor of mask that is obtained according to the result of determination for the noise status of representative pixel value of each area.

Design and Implementation of a Book Counting System based on the Image Processing (영상처리를 이용한 도서 권수 판별 시스템 설계 및 구현)

  • Many libraries utilize RFID tags for checking in and out of books. However, the recognition rate of this automatic process may depend on the orientation of antennas and RFID tags. Therefore we need supplemental systems to improve the recognition rate. The proposed algorithm sets up the ROI of the book existing area from the input image and then performs Canny edge detection algorithm to extract edges of books. Finally Hough line transform algorithm allows to detect the number of books from the extracted edges. To evaluate the performance of the proposed method, we applied our method to 350 book images under various circumstances. We then analyzed the performance of proposed method from results using recognition and mismatch ratio. The experimental result gave us 97.1% accuracy in book counting.
