Facilities Analysis of Laver Cultivation Grounds in Korean Coastal Waters Using SPOT-5 Images in 2005 (SPOT-5 위성영상에 의한 2005년 한국 연안 김 양식장의 시설현황 분석)

  • The cultural grounds of lave r have been surveyed using SPOT-5 satellite images. The facilities of laver cultivation area in the coastal waters of Korea were calculated. 10 m resolution multispectral images of SPOT-5 are adopted for the southern are a of Jebu Island, Hwaseong city to develop an automatic detection approach of laver nets that consists of the following: band difference technique, canny edge detector and morphological analysis: The number of satellite-based facilities was relatively high as compared with the licensed number in 2005, 676,749 chaek and 572,745 chaek(柵, unit of measure for laver farm), respectively. The ratio of a law abiding facility was very low at 52.9%. These data could be applied to control its national production keeping a stable market price for the government body.

  • An automated system using a embedded board is required to generate the notation input of the offline Go game. This paper integrates shape and color information of the objects on the Go game board for light-insensitive processing and reduces the computation step. This paper combined the detection of obstacles using connected components with the computation of canny edge detection and HSV-based detection. As a result, the processing time is reduced in the embedded environment so that reliable notation can be automatically stored even in real-time play environment.

Mosaic Detection Based on Edge Projection in Digital Video (비디오 데이터에서 에지 프로젝션 기반의 모자이크 검출)

  • In general, mosaic blocks are used to hide some specified areas, such as human faces and disgusting objects, in an input image when images are uploaded on a web-site or blog. This paper proposes a new algorithm for robustly detecting grid mosaic areas in an image based on the edge projection. The proposed algorithm first extracts the Canny edges from an input image. The algorithm then detects the candidate mosaic blocks based on horizontal and vertical edge projection. Subsequently, the algorithm obtains real mosaic areas from the candidate areas by eliminating the non-mosaic candidate regions through geometric features, such as size and compactness. The experimental results showed that the suggested algorithm detects mosaic areas in images more accurately than other existing methods. The suggested mosaic detection approach is expected to be utilized usefully in a variety of multimedia-related real application areas.

  • 근래에 인간과 컴퓨터의 상호작용을 통하여 사용자에게 직관적인 정보를 제공하는 기술들이 발전하고 있으며, 그래픽 기술의 비실사 렌더링을 이용한 미술 기법을 사실감 있게 가상 체험하기 위한 어플리케이션이 제안되고 있다. 본 논문은 미술 기법 중 방망이를 이용한 탁본 기법을 가상의 환경에서 모사하기 위해 탁본의 방망이를 통한 힘 쉐이딩을 새롭게 고안하여 제안한다. 햅틱 커서의 포인트와는 달리 탁본 방망이의 면적이 접촉하는 부분에서 생기는 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 Height map으로 사용된 Canny Edge Detection 이미지를 통해 Height map을 부분적으로 재 정의하고 힘의 계산에 적용하여 충돌된 방망이의 힘 쉐이딩을 가능하게 하는 것이 원리이다. 그래픽 렌더링 효과와 함께 실시간으로 사용자에게 햅틱 장치를 이용하여 촉감 정보를 전달함으로써 다양한 미술 교육적 효과를 체험할 수 있는 방안을 제공할 것으로 기대된다.

  • 본 논문에서는 피부색 정보와 눈, 입의 위치를 찾아 실시간으로 얼굴을 인식하는 랩을 제안한다. 먼저 노이즈를 제거하여 얼굴 후보 영역을 지정한다. 지정된 얼굴 후보 영역에서 눈과 입을 찾고, 찾은 눈과 입 사이의 영역에서 에지를 탐색하여 코의 존재 유무를 검증하고 이를 바탕으로 얼굴인지 판단하는 절차를 따른다. 제안한 기법은 피부색 검출을 위해 YCbCr 을 이용하여 피부 영역을 찾고 지정한 피부 영역에서 노이즈를 제거한 후, Eye Map의 EyeMapC 연산을 통해 눈을 Lip Map을 통해 입을 찾는다. 찾아낸 눈과 입의 사이의 영역에서 Canny Edge 연산을 수행하여 코의 존재 유무를 판단하여 최종적인 얼굴 영역을 판별하는 방법을 제안한다.

Stroke Width Based Skeletonization for Text Images

  • Skeletonization is a morphological operation that transforms an original object into a subset, which is called a 'skeleton'. Skeletonization has been intensively studied for decades and is a challenging issue especially for special target objects. This paper proposes a novel approach to the skeletonization of text images based on stroke width detection. First, the preliminary skeleton is detected by using a Canny edge detector with a Tensor Voting framework. Second, the preliminary skeleton is smoothed, and junction points are connected by interpolation compensation. Experimental results show the validity of the proposed approach.

  • 최근 IT 기술이 융합된 지능형 자동차 기술에 대한 관심이 높아짐에 따라 이에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 차선 검출은 지능형 자동차의 주요 과제인 첨단 안전자동차 기술의 핵심적인 부분으로 국내외에서 다양한 방법들에 대한 연구가 진행되었다. 차량의 안전을 향상시키기 위해서는 충분한 제동거리 확보가 가능한 거리까지 정확하고 빠른 차선 검출이 이루어져야 한다. 기존의 경계선 검출기법들은 조명 변화에 따라 그 성능의 변화가 크게 발생하였다. 이는 차선과 도로의 사이의 값의 차이가 조명 조건에 따라 변하기 때문이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 영상 분석을 통하여 경계선을 판단하는 값을 조절함으로써 환경에 적응적인 경계선 추출 방법을 제안한다. 차량 주행 영상에서 제안한 방법과 기존의 경계선 검출 기법을 적용하여 성능을 비교한다.

An Automatic Road Sign Recognizer for an Intelligent Transport System

  • This paper presents the implementation of an automatic road sign recognizer for an intelligent transport system. In this system, lists of road signs are processed with actions such as line segmentation, single sign segmentation, and storing an artificial sign in the database. The process of taking the video stream and extracting the road sign and storing in the database is called the road sign recognition. This paper presents a study on recognizing traffic sign patterns using a segmentation technique for the efficiency and the speed of the system. The image is converted from one scale to another scale such as RGB to grayscale or grayscale to binary. The images are pre-processed with several image processing techniques, such as threshold techniques, Gaussian filters, Canny edge detection, and the contour technique.

  • In this paper, we develop a program that recognition of the object 3D pose using stereo camera. In order to detect the object, this paper is applied to canny edge detection algorithm and also used stereo camera to get the 3D point about the object and applied to recognize the pose of the object using iterative closest point(ICP) algorithm.

Attitude Stabilization of a Quad-Rotor UAV Using a Two-camera Vision System

  • This paper is mainly concerned with the vision-based attitude stabilization of a quad-rotor UAV. The methods for attitude control rely on computing the roll and pitch angles of the vehicle from a two-camera vision system. One camera is attached to the body-fixed x-axis and the other to the body-fixed y-axis. The attitude computation for the quad-rotor UAV is performed by image processing consisting of Canny edge and Hough line detection. A proportional and integral controller is employed for the attitude hold autopilot. In this paper, the quad-rotor UAV is modeled by 6-DOF nonlinear equations of motion that includes rotor aerodynamics with blade element theory. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated through 3D environmental numerical simulations.
