우리나라 우편 봉투 영상에서의 주소 영역 추추을 위한 지식 기반 시스템 (A Knowledge-Based System for Address Block Location on Korean Envelope Images)

  • In this paper,we propose a knowledge-based system for locating Destination Address Block(DAB) by analyzing the structure of Korean envelope images. In the proposed system the preprocessing steps such as adaptive binarization connected component extraction and deskewing are carried out first for the effective structure analysis of the envelope image. Then DAB containing address name and zipcode parts of the input envelope image is extracted by an iterative procedure based on the knowledge acquired from the statistical feature analysis of the various envelope images. Most of the system for slocating address blocks on envelopes have extracted DAB by segmenting an envelope image into several candidate blocks followed by selecting one among the candidate blocks. Because it is very difficult to segment a Korean envelope image into several blocks due to the specific writing habits that the addresses on the envelope are written in close proximity to each other the proposed iterative procedure determines DAB by splitting or merging the connected components and verifies the determined DAB without segmentation and selection. Experiments with a great number of the live envelopes provided from Seoul Mail Center in Koorea were carried out. The results reveal that the proposed system is very effective for address block location on Korean envelopes.

인공 부착 마커를 활용한 실내 위치 및 자세 추정 알고리즘 (Indoor Location and Pose Estimation Algorithm using Artificial Attached Marker)

  • This paper presents a real-time indoor location and pose estimation method that utilizes simple artificial markers and image analysis techniques for the purpose of warehouse automation. The conventional indoor localization methods cannot work robustly in warehouses where severe environmental changes usually occur due to the movement of stocked goods. To overcome this problem, the proposed framework places artificial markers having different interior pattern on the predefined position of the warehouse floor. The proposed algorithm obtains marker candidate regions from a captured image by a simple binarization and labeling procedure. Then it extracts maker interior pattern information from each candidate region in order to decide whether the candidate region is a true marker or not. The extracted interior pattern information and the outer boundary of the marker are used to estimate location and heading angle of the localization system. Experimental results show that the proposed localization method can provide high performance which is almost equivalent to that of the conventional method using an expensive LIDAR sensor and AMCL algorithm.

한국 대선후보자의 패션스타일 연구 - 16-18 대선을 중심으로 - (The Study on the Fashion Style of Presidential Candidates in Korea - Focusing on 16-18 Election -)

  • This study was aimed to analyzing the fashion style worn during the election campaign in the 16-18 Korea presidential candidates. In order to derive a comprehensive fashion style of each candidate it was classified as outfits, items, colors, patterns, accessories and the like. Research data was collected through literature, newspapers, Internet sites, etc., and SPSS statistical package was performed. In research data, 16 presidential candidates photographs were 87, 17 presidential candidates photographs were 82, 18 presidential candidates photographs were 155 as photograph by exposure to the media during each presidential campaign. The results of this study are as follows: In the fashion style of presidential candidates, male candidates mainly dressed in a tie and suit, but the 18 candidates dressed in casual wear unlike previous candidates. In tie color, 16 appeared in the red series, 17 election and 18 election appeared in blue series. Female candidate, Park Geun-hye candidate dressed in the combination of a jacket and blouse and pants. Therefore fashion style of presidential candidates got a strong symbolic image functions as political lines, ideologies, beliefs, and the campaign promises. Because describing the fashion style of candidates based on the statistical result, it requires attention to generalization.

히스토그램 분포 모델링 기반 TFT-LCD 결함 검출 (TFT-LCD Defect Detection based on Histogram Distribution Modeling)

  • TFT-LCD automatic defect inspection system for detecting defects in place of the visual tester does pre-processing, candidate defect pixel detection, and recognition and classification through a blob analysis. An over-detection result of defects acts as an undue burden of blob analysis for recognition and classification. In this paper, we propose defect detection method based on the histogram distribution modeling of TFT-LCD image to minimize over-detection of candidate defective pixels. Primary defect candidate pixels are detected estimating the skewness of the luminance distribution histogram of the background pixels. Based on the detected defect pixels, the defective pixels other than noise pixels are detected using the distribution histogram model of the local area. Experimental results confirm that the proposed method shows an excellent defect detection result on the image containing the various types of defects and the reduction of the degree of over-detection as well.

홍채 영상에서 자율신경환 추출에 관한 연구 (A Study of an Collarette Extraction in Iris Image)

  • 홍채에서 자율신경환이 형성된 위치와 모양으로 환자들의 건강 상태를 파악할 수 있다는 특성 때문에 한의학에서 건강 진단의 한 방법으로 활용되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 홍채에 존재하는 자율신경환을 효과적으로 추출하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 방법은 원형 에지 검출기를 이용하여 홍채 영역을 검출한 후 방사조사법 및 문턱치 설정을 통해 경계 후보점을 결정한다. 그리고 각 경계 후보점의 최단거리를 계산하여 경계 후보선을 생성하고 최종적으로 선형보간을 통해 자율신경환을 추출한다. 홍채 영상들에 대해 실험한 결과, 인체의 소화기관의 상태를 추정할 수 있는 진단 시스템의 도구로서 활용될 수 있는 수준의 추출 결과를 얻을 수 있었다.

Design of a Recognizing System for Vehicle's License Plates with English Characters

  • In recent years, video detection systems have been implemented in various infrastructures such as airport, public transportation, power generation system, water dam and so on. Recognizing moving objects in video sequence is an important problem in computer vision, with applications in several fields, such as video surveillance and target tracking. Segmentation and tracking of multiple vehicles in crowded situations is made difficult by inter-object occlusion. In the system described in this paper, the mean shift algorithm is firstly used to filter and segment a color vehicle image in order to get candidate regions. These candidate regions are then analyzed and classified in order to decide whether a candidate region contains a license plate or not. And then some characters in the license plate is recognized by using the fuzzy ARTMAP neural network, which is a relatively new architecture of the neural network family and has the capability to learn incrementally unlike the conventional BP network. We finally design a license plate recognition system using the mean shift algorithm and fuzzy ARTMAP neural network and show its performance via some computer simulations.

A Method for Identification of Harmful Video Images Using a 2-Dimensional Projection Map

  • This paper proposes a method for identification of harmful video images based on the degree of harmfulness in the video content. To extract harmful candidate frames from the video effectively, we used a video color extraction method applying a projection map. The procedure for identifying the harmful video has five steps, first, extract the I-frames from the video and map them onto projection map. Next, calculate the similarity and select the potentially harmful, then identify the harmful images by comparing the similarity measurement value. The method estimates similarity between the extracted frames and normative images using the critical value of the projection map. Based on our experimental test, we propose how the harmful candidate frames are extracted and compared with normative images. The various experimental data proved that the image identification method based on the 2-dimensional projection map is superior to using the color histogram technique in harmful image detection performance.

주파수 특성과 역전파 신경망 알고리즘을 이용한 문자 영역 분할 방법 (A method for Character Segmentation using Frequence Characteristics and Back Propagation Neural Network)

  • 문자 영역 추출을 위해서 FFT와 신경망을 이용한 방법을 본 논문에서 제안하고자 한다. 일반적으로 문자 영역은 고주파 영역에서 발견되므로 FFT를 이용하여 이 특징을 추출할 수 있다. 문자(고 주파) 영역과 비 문자(저 주파) 영역을 신경망에 학습을 시킨다. 신경망에 고주파 영역을 입력으로써 후보 영역을 추출한다. 그리고 최종 문자 영역은 후보 영역 검증을 통하여 추출된다. 실험 결과 후보 영역 추출은 학습된 경우 100% 추출율을 보여주고 있으며, 검증을 통한 후보 영역 추출율은 95%임을 알 수 있었다. 제안된 알고리즘의 장점은 알고리즘의 단순성과 실시간 처리에 있다.

MST를 이용한 문자 영역 분할 방법 (A Method for Character Segmentation using MST(Minimum Spanning Tree))

  • 기존의 문자 영역 추출 방법은 전체 영상으로부터 컬러 영역 분할이나 프레임 차 방법을 이용하였다. 이들 방법은 휴리스틱에 많이 의존하므로 추출하려는 문자의 사전 정보를 가지고 있어야한다는 점과 구현에 많은 어려움이 존재한다. 본 논문에서는 휴리스틱한 부분을 줄이고 알고리즘을 단순화한 방법을 제안하고자 한다 문자의 지형학적 특징점을 추출하고 이 점들을 MST(Minimum Spanning Tree)를 형성하여 문자의 후보 영역을 추출한다. 문자 영역을 후보 영역의 검증을 통하여 추출한다. 실험 결과 문자의 후보 영역 추출율은 100%이었으며 최종 문자 영역 추출율은 98.2%이었다. 또한 복잡한 영상에서 존재하는 문자 영역도 잘 추출됨을 볼 수 있다.

색열화 및 부분 은폐에 강인한 ID얼굴 검지 (ID Face Detection Robust to Color Degradation and Partial Veiling)

  • 본 논문에서는 색열화와 부분 은폐에 강인한 특성을 갖는 ID얼굴(identificable face: 신원확인가능 얼굴) 검지방법을 제안한다. 이 방법은 후보영역 분할, 후보창 추출, 은폐여부 판단의 세 단계로 구성된다. 후보영역 분할에서는 입력영상으로부터 피부색영역과 색열화된 얼굴구성요소(눈, 코, 입 영역)를 함께 찾아 E얼굴 후보영역을 분할한다. 후보창 추출에서는 후보영역내의 얼굴일 가능성이 있는 후보창들을 추출한다. 은폐여부 판단에서는 고유얼굴(eigenface)기법을 이용하여 고유얼굴들과 유사도가 가장 큰 후보창 하나가 결정되고, 이 후보창의 각 얼굴구성요소의 은폐되었는지 아닌지가 유사한 방법으로 결정된다. 실험결과, 제안한 검지방법은 색이 심하게 열화된 얼굴들과 은폐된 얼굴들을 포함하고 있는 얼굴 DB에서 색열화와 은폐를 고려하지 않은 얼굴검지방법에 비해 ID얼굴 검지율이 약 $11.4\%$ 향상됨을 확인하였다.
