  • Recently, augmented reality has been proved immensely useful on a day to day basis when tied with location-based technology. In this paper, we present a new method for displaying augmented reality contents on mobile devices. We add 3D models on the view of the camera and use location-based services, motion sensors to calculate the transformation of models. Instead of remaining at a fixed position on camera view while moving around a 3D model, the model rotates on display in the opposite direction that the user is walking. We also design client as a ubiquitous client to reduce constraints on disk space and memory capacity on mobile devices. Implementation results show effective use in creating GPS-based 3D view augmented reality contents for Smart Mobile Devices.

  • This paper describes a method of calculating the viewing parameters of a camera using a perspective view of a circular pattern. The proposed method determines the angle of pan, tilt, and swing, as well as the distance from the camera to the reference point of a world coordinate system, using simple equations. The proposed method is so simple and accurate that when used in a well-controled environment as in robot vision systems or visual inspection systems it may even seem trivial.

  • In this paper, we propose a blind spots elimination system using three cameras. A wide-angle camera is attached on trunk for eliminating blind spots of a rear-view mirror and two cameras are attached on each side-view mirror for eliminating blind spots of vehicle's sides. In order to eliminate blind spots efficiently, we suggest a method to build a panoramic mosaic view with two side images and one wide-angle rear image. First, we obtain an undistorted image from a wide-angle camera of rear-view and calculate the focus-of-contraction (FOC) in undistorted images of rear-view while the car is moving straight forward. Second, we compute a homography among side-view images and an undistorted image of rear-view in flat road scenes. Next, we perform an image registration process after road and background region segmentation. Finally, we generate various views such as a cylinder panorama view, a top view and an information panoramic mosaic view.

  • A visual sensor consisted of polygonal mirror, laser, and CCD camera was proposed to measure the distance to the weld joint for recognizing the joint shape. To scan the laser beam of the sensor onto an object, 8-facet polygonal mirror was used as the rotating mirror. By locating the laser and the camera at axi-symmetrical positions around the mirror, the synchronized-scan condition could be satisfied even when the mirror was set to rotate through one direction continuously, which could remove the inertia effect of the conventional oscillating-mirror methods. The mathematical modelling of the proposed sensor with the optical triangulation method made it possible to derive the relation between the position of an image on the camera and the one of a laser light on the object. Through the geometrical simulation of the proposed sensor with the principal of reflection and virtual image, the optical path of a laser light could be predicted. The position and direction of the CCD camera were determined based on the Scheimpflug's condition to fit the focus of any image reflected from an object within the field of view. The results of modelling and simulation revealed that the proposed visual sensor could be used to recognize the weld joint and its vicinity located within the range of the field of view and the resolution. • The present study suggests the application of a depth camera for wave height field measurement, focusing on the calibration procedure and test setup. Azure Kinect system is used to measure the water surface elevation, with a field of view of 800 mm × 800 mm and repetition rate of 30 Hz. In the optimal optical setup, the spatial resolution of the field of view is 288 × 320 pixels. To detect the water surface by the depth camera, tracer particles that float on the water and reflects infrared is added. The calibration consists of wave height scaling and correction of the barrel distortion. A polynomial regression model of image correction is established using machine learning. The measurement results by the depth camera are compared with capacitance type wave height gauge measurement, to show good agreement.

  • Camera calibration in machine vision is the process of determining the intrinsic camera parameters and the three-dimensional (3D) position and orientation of the camera frame relative to a certain world coordinate system. On the other hand, Takagi-Sugeno-Kang (TSK) fuzzy system is a very popular fuzzy system and approximates any nonlinear function to arbitrary accuracy with only a small number of fuzzy rules. It demonstrates not only nonlinear behavior but also transparent structure. In this paper, we present a novel and simple technique for camera calibration for machine vision using TSK fuzzy model. The proposed method divides the world into some regions according to camera view and uses the clustered 3D geometric knowledge. TSK fuzzy system is employed to estimate the camera parameters by combining partial information into complete 3D information. The experiments are performed to verify the proposed camera calibration.

  • This paper proposes a face tracking algorithm for a viewpoint adaptive multi-view synthesis system. The original scene captured by a depth camera contains a texture image and 8 bit gray-scale depth map. From this original image, multi-view images that correspond to the viewer's position can be synthesized using geometrical transformations, such as rotation and translation. The proposed face tracking technique gives a motion parallax cue by different viewpoints and view angles. In the proposed algorithm, the viewer's dominant face, which is established initially from a camera, can be tracked using the statistical characteristics of face colors and deformable templates. As a result, a motion parallax cue can be provided by detecting the viewer's dominant face area and tracking it, even under a heterogeneous background, and synthesized sequences can be displayed successfully.

  • Fast advancement and dynamic diffusion of Smart device make big change to personal user. They have been extended from consumer only watching video to prosumer recording and sharing User Created Video(UCV). With this reason, as a platform for various kind of content service. Especially, UCVs for the purpose of sharing experience are recorded from same event on limited time and space by some people. These are also produced by various cameras that has each angle similar like broadcasting videos. In this paper, we present multi-view characteristic of UCV and propose Multi-view UCV service that is watching UCVs from same event through adjusting camera angle. Through user satisfaction survey, we knew that adjusting camera angle is preferred for watching UCV including overlapping part more than linear watching.

  • This paper relates to the development of CCTV camera posture calibration algorithm that can simultaneously collect traffic information such as traffic volume and speed in the state of view of the CCTV camera set for traffic monitoring. The developed autonomous posture calibration algorithm uses vehicle recognition and tracking techniques to identify the road, and automatically determines the angle of view for the operator's traffic surveillance and traffic information collection. To verify the performance of the proposed algorithm, a CCTV installed on site was used, and the results of the angle of view automatically calculated by the autonomous posture calibration algorithm for the angle of view set for traffic surveillance and traffic information collection were compared.
