Rollover accident is one of the serious traffic accident and rollover accident takes high portion of all accident. The most common type of rollover is a tripped rollover which occupy 95% of all type of single-vehicle rollover. Tripped rollover occurs when a vehicle leaves normal road way and tripped by loose gravel, soil of fixed object such as guard rail, curbs and ditches. And the rest of the type of rollover is un-tripped rollover. An un-tripped rollovers that occurs during high-speed collision avoidance maneuvers. In this paper, presents the explanation of the un-tripped rollover test method and procedure, additionally this paper deals with various occurrence in the un-tripped test such as occurring excessive tire camber in the un-tripped test, tire side-wall contact with road surface and roll oscillation. And this paper analyzes the analysis of the roll rate amplitude in specific frequency through the FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) and the roll angle at the steering reverse timing which is the Fishhook test roll rate feedback time. Finally, this paper analyzes the relations between the estimated steady state roll gain and rollover stability.

A Computational code has been developed in order to design axial fans by the numerical optimization techniques incorporated with flow analysis code solving three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equation. The steepest descent method and the conjugate gradient method are used to look for the search direction in the design space, and the golden section method is used for one-dimensional search. To solve the constrained optimization problem, sequential unconstrained minimization technique, SUMT, is used with imposed quadratic extended interior penalty functions. In the optimization of two-dimensional cascade design, the ratio of drag coefficient to lift coefficient is minimized by the design variables such as maximum thickness, maximum ordinate of camber and chord wise position of maximum ordinate. In the application of this numerical optimization technique to the design of an axial fan, the efficiency is maximized by the design variables related to the sweep angle distributed by quadratic function along the hub to tip of fan.

This present paper leads to investigation of blade-fluid interactions of cambered blade H-Darrieus rotor having EN0005 airfoil blades using comprehensive Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis to understand its performance in low wind streams. For several blade azimuthal angle positions, the effects of three different low wind speeds are studied regarding their influence on the blade-fluid interactions of the EN0005 blade rotor. In the prevailing studies by various researchers, such CFD analysis of H-Darrieus rotors are very less, hence it is needed to improve their steady-state performance in low wind velocities. Such a study is also important to obtain important performance insights of such thin cambered blade rotor in its complete rotational cycle. It has been seen that the vortex generated at the suction side of the EN0005 blade rolls back to its leading edge due to the camber of the blade and thus a peak velocity occurs near to the nose position of this blade at its leading edge, which leads to peak performance of this rotor. Again, in the returning phase of the blade, a secondary recirculating vortex is generated that acts on the pressure side of EN0005 blade rotor that increases the performance of this cambered EN0005 blade rotor in its downstream position as well. Here, the aerodynamic performances have been compared considering Standard k-ε and SST k-ω models to check the better suited turbulence model for the cambered EN0005 blade H-Darrieus rotor in low tip speed ratios.

This study deals with the design of a safety device around a leisure boat propeller. The safety device is to be designed to minimize performance degradation attached to propulsors in coastal waters. These devices, important for preventing propeller accidents, negatively gives influence boat performance, especially at higher speeds. In order to minimize the negative effect, the accelerating ducts, normally used in ESDs (Energy Saving Devices) have been chosen as a safety device. The present study aims to design an optimal duct (minimizing negative effect) through the parametric study. Based on the Marine 19A nozzle, the nozzle's thickness and angle were varied to obtain the optimum parameter in the preliminary design by the computational fluid dynamics program Star-CCM+ Ver. 15.02. In the detailed design, a NACA 4-digit Airfoil shape resembling the Marine 19A by modification at the trailing edge was chosen and the optimum shape was chosen according to variation of camber, thickness, and incidence angle for optimization. The optimally designed duct shows a speed decrease of about 10% in the sea trial result, which is much smaller than the normal speed decrease of at least 30%. The present designing method can give wide applications to the leisure boat because the wake is almost the same due to using the outboard propulsor.

This paper deals with the design optimization of the kinematic characteristics of an automotive suspension system. The kinematic characteristics of the suspension determine the attitude of the wheels, such as the toe and camber, which not only relates to tire wear during driving, but also greatly affects the control of the vehicle and its stability, which corresponds to the motion performance of the vehicle. Therefore, it is very important to determine the characteristics of the suspension mechanism at the initial stage of the design. In this study, a displacement analysis is performed to determine the kinematic properties of the suspension for the McPherson strut suspension. For this purpose, a set of constraint equations for the joints constituting the suspension mechanism was established and a program was developed to solve them. We also used ADS, a design optimization program, to obtain the desired kinematic characteristics of the suspension. As the design variables for optimization, we used the coordinates of the hard points, which are the points of attachment of the suspension to the vehicle body, and are defined as the summation of the toe-in for the up and down movement of the wheel as the objective function. As the constraint functions, the maximum camber angle and minimum roll center height, which are design requirements, are considered. As a result of this study, it was possible to determine the optimal locations of the hard points that satisfy both constraint functions and minimize the change of the toe-in.

The behaviors of the curved bridges which has been constructed in the RAMP or Interchange are very complicate and different than orthogonal bridges according to the variations of radius of curvature, skew angle and spacing of shoes. Occasionally, the camber of girder and negative reactions can be occurred due to bending and torsional moment. In this study, the effects on the negative reaction in the curved bridge were investigated on the basis of design variables such as radius of curvature, skew angle, and spacing of shoes. For this study, the twin-steel box girder curved bridge with single span which is applicable for the RAMP bridges with span length(L) of 50.0m and width of 9.0m was chosen and the structural analysis to calculate the reactions was conducted using 3-dimensional equivalent grillage system. The value of negative reaction in curved bridges depends on the plan structures of bridges, the formations of structural systems, and the boundary conditions of bearing, so, radius of curvature, skew angle, and spacing of shoes among of design variables were chosen as the parameter and the load combination according to the design standard were considered. According to the results of numerical analysis, the negative reaction in curved bridge increased with an decrease of radius of curvature, skew angle, and spacing of shoes, respectively. Also, in case of skew angle of $60^{\circ}$ the negative reaction has been always occurred without regard to ${\theta}/B$, and in case of skew angle of $75^{\circ}$ the negative reaction hasn't been occurred in ${\theta}/B$ below 0.27 with the radius of curvature of 180m and in ${\theta}/B$ below 0.32 with the radius of curvature of 250m, and in case of skew angle of $90^{\circ}$ the negative reaction hasn't been occurred in the radius of curvature over 180m and in ${\theta}/B$ below 0.38 with the radius of curvature of 130m, The results from this study indicated that occurrence of negative reaction was related to design variables such as radius of curvature, skew angle, and spacing of shoes, and the problems with the stability including negative reaction will be expected to be solved as taken into consideration of the proper combinations of design variables in design of curved bridge.

As far as an opening device of fishing gears is concerned, applications of a kite are under development around the world. The typical examples are found in the opening device of the stow net on anchor and the buoyancy material of the trawl. While the stow net on anchor has proved its capability for the past 20 years, the trawl has not been wildly used since it has been first introduced for the commercial use only without sufficient studies and thus has revealed many drawbacks. Therefore, the fundamental hydrodynamics of the kite itself need to ne studied further. Models of plate and canvas kite were deployed in the circulating water tank for the mechanical test. For this situation lift and drag tests were performed considering a change in the shape of objects, which resulted in a different aspect ratio of rectangle and trapezoid. The results obtained from the above approaches are summarized as follows, where aspect ratio, attack angle, lift coefficient and maximum lift coefficient are denoted as A, B, $C_L$ and $C_{Lmax}$ respectively : 1. Given the rectangular plate, $C_{Lmax}$ was produced as 1.46${\sim}$1.54 with A${\leq}$1 and 40$^{\circ}$${\leq}$B${\leq}$42$^{\circ}$. And when A${\geq}$1.5 and 20$^{\circ}$${\leq}$B${\leq}$22$^{\circ}$, $C_{Lmax}$ was 10.7${\sim}$1.11. Given the rectangular canvas, $C_{Lmax}$ was 1.75${\sim}$1.91 with A${\leq}$1 and 32$^{\circ}$${\leq}$B${\leq}$40$^{\circ}$. And when A${\geq}$1.5 and 18$^{\circ}$${\leq}$B${\leq}$22$^{\circ}$, $C_{Lmax}$ was 1.24${\sim}$1.40. Given the trapezoid kite, $C_{Lmax}$ was produced as 1.65${\sim}$1.89 with A${\leq}$1.5 and 34$^{\circ}$${\leq}$B${\leq}$44$^{\circ}$. And when A=2 and B=14${\sim}$48, $C_L$ was around 1. Given the inverted trapezoid kite, $C_{Lmax}$ was 1.57${\sim}$1.74 with A${\leq}$1.5 and 24$^{\circ}$${\leq}$B${\leq}$36$^{\circ}$. And when A=2, $C_{Lmax}$ was 1.21 with B=18$^{\circ}$. 2. For a model with A=1/2, an increase in B caused an increase in $C_L$ until $C_L$ has reached the maximum. Then there was a tendency of a gradual decrease in the value of $C_L$ and in particular, the rectangular kite showed a more rapid decrease. For a model with A=2/3, the tendency of $C_L$ was similar to the case of a model with A=1/2 but the tendency was a more rapid decrease than those of the previous models. For a model with A=1, and increase in B caused an increase in $C_L$ until $C_L$ has reached the maximum. Soon after the tendency of $C_L$ decreased dramatically. For a model with A=1.5, the tendency of $C_L$ as a function of B was various. For a model with A=2, the tendency of $C_L$ as a function of B was almost the same in the rectangular and trapezoid model. There was no considerable change in the models with 20$^{\circ}$${\leq}$B${\leq}$50$^{\circ}$. 3. The tendency of kite model's $C_L$ in accordance with increase of B was increased rapidly than plate models until $C_L$ has reached the maximum. Then $C_L$ in the kite model was decreased dramatically but in the plate model was decreased gradually. The value of $C_{Lmax}$ in the kite model was higher than that of the plate model, and the kite model's attack angel at $C_{Lmax}$ was smaller than the plate model's. 4. In the relationship between aspect ratio and lift force, the attack angle which had the maximum lift coefficient was large at the small aspect ratio models, At the large aspect ratio models, the attack angle was small. 5. There was camber vertex in the position in which the fluid pressure was generated, and the rectangular & trapezoid canvas had larger value of camber vertex when the aspect ratio was high, while the inverted trapezoid canvas was versa. 6. All canvas kite had larger camber ratio when the aspect ratio was high, and the rectangular & trapezoid canvas had larger one when the attack angle was high.

The MH-75 propeller for the MAV propulsion is designed using a free vortex design method which considers design parameters such as the hub-tip ratio, the twist angle distribution, the maximum camber location and the chord length of the propeller blade. Aerodynamic characteristics of the MH-75 propeller are predicted by changing the flight speed using the frequency domain panel method. And, the thrust characteristics of the MH-75 propeller are measured using the balance system of the subsonic wind tunnel for the validation of numerical results. The performance characteristics of the MH-75 propeller satisfied with design requirements. Numerical results of the MH-75, which are predicted by the frequency domain panel method, are more agree with experimental results compare with XFOIL.

This research aims at establishing the application of canvas kite to the fishing gear through the analysis of the lift/drag tests of the kites have been performed in our previous finding. Now that several methodologies were designed to find the most effective triangular model as a buoyancy device applied to the fishing gear. Comparisons of drag/lift were made by installing the model in an installation frame instead of the prototype. Also, we have considered the application of canvas kite to the prototypic fishing gear by calculation using the result of this test. The results obtained from the above approaches are summarized as follows, where attack angle, lift coefficient, maximum lift coefficient and drag coefficient are denoted as $B,\;C_L,\;C_Lmax\;and\;C_D$ respectively. The camber showed a gradual increase with an increase of fluid velocity. There was a big discrepancy in B=20 unlike B=30. Even if the kite retreats along the fluid flow, there is little relationship with the velocity variation. Lifts calculated with the kites were bigger and drags were smaller than those of the calculations with the float only. The kite as the buoyancy device will be very useful when the appropriate applications and the stability are met.
Various approaches have been tried in an effort to improve the power performance of a flapping tidal stream turbine after it was introduced as an alternative to conventional rotary turbines. Among the different approaches, researches on mimicking the morphology and behavior of animals have been conducted. In this study, we utilized a flapper to mimic the multi-joint pectoral fin of a Manta-ray and investigated its effect on power generation. Experiments were conducted by a dual flapping apparatus with rigid and flexible flappers in a towing tank facility. First, in order to determine the conditions that can produce high power generation, the performances of the dual rigid flappers were compared when input arm angles and frequencies are changed, and the two conditions $40^{\circ}$, 0.2 Hz and $40^{\circ}$, 0.3 Hz for the input arm angle, frequency were selected. When the mimicked flexible flapper was used instead of the front rigid flapper and the rear one, the power was improved by an average of 22% and 38% in the experimental conditions, respectively. Moreover, it was recognized from the apparent camber observed during the experiment that the flexible flapper had been successfully applied. If the feasibility of the Manta-Ray mimicked flapper is improved through subsequent researches, the flapping tidal turbine can be a viable alternative to rotary turbines in the near future.
