The first record of Bouchetriphora consfera (Caenogastropoda, Triphoridae) from Korean Waters

  • The specimens of triphorid snail, Bouchetriphora consfera were collected from Jeju-do, Korea and diagnostic characters were analysed. As a result, the genus Bouchetriphora is reported for the first time in Korean malacol fauna and the family Triphoridae in Korea turned out to be 15 species of 10 genera.

  • The specimens of bursid snail, Bursa (Bursa) bufonia (Gmelin, 1791) were collected from Jeju Island, Korea and diagnostic characters were analysed. This is the first report of the family Bursidae and the genus Bursa in the Korean waters.

  • Based on investigation of collections at the A.V. Zhirmunsky Institute of Marine Biology of the Far-Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Vladivostok) and Zoological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Saint Petersburg), as well as on the analysis of published data, the species composition of shell-bearing gastropod mollusks of the Russian waters of the East Sea (Sea of Japan), consisting of 331 species and subspecies, has been identified. Each species is assigned to a biogeographic grouping in the study area. Its type locality and habitat (depth and substrate) are also documented. The third part of this review includes 129 species in Neogastropoda (Caenogastropoda).

  • We report three new records Korean marine gastropods. The new record species are Hipponix acuta, Lyncina (Ponda) carneola, and Velutina (Velutella) plicatilis cryptospira. As a result, the family Hipponicidae in Korea turned out to be 5 species of 4 genera, Cypraeidae are 14 species of 8 genera, and Velutinidae are 7 species of 3 genera, respectively.

  • The specimens of three unrecorded triphorid snails, Mastonia millepunctata, Monophorus testaceus, and Obesula turricula were collected from Jeju-do, Korea and diagnostic characters were analysed. As a result, the family Triphoridae in Korea turned out to be 18 species revised species catalogue are listed.
