Effects of Low Incident Energy Levels of Infrared Laser Irradiation on the Proliferation of Candida Albicans Part I : A Long Term Study according to Pulse Type

  • This experiment was performed to confirm the hypothesis that LLLT had biostimulation effect for all kinds of cells and there would be differences in the growth of cells among different types of pulsed laser. 360 samples were used in this study. The samples were randomly divided in 6 groups according to the pulse type : quasi continuous type (CW), pulse 1(P1), pulse 7(P7), pulse 9(P9), pulse 15(P15) and shame-irradiated control(Co) groups. Energy fluences of all experimental groups, P1, P7, P9, P15 and CW were 2.12, 2.12, 6.37, 57.32 and 31.85 mj/cm2 respectively. All samples were irradiated for every 1 minute at 0, 12, 24, 36, 48 and 60 hours. Ten samples of each group were sacrificed at 0 and every 12 hours and then the optical density of all samples was measured with the spectrophotometer. As a result, some types of pulses showed significant differences among groups. The increase of cells were markedly stimulated with laser irradiation in P7 and P9 groups, while inhibited in CW, P1, and P15 groups compared with control group. It is therefore, suggested that specific laser pulse should be recommanded to have the biostimulation effects on the specific tissue or cells, although the biostimulation effect is does dependant.

  • We propose a high voltage dc-dc converter for CW(continuous wave) $CO_2$ laser system using a current resonant half-bridge inverter and a Cockcroft-Walton circuit. This high voltage power supply includes a 2-stage voltage multiplier driven by a regulated half-bridge series resonant inverter. The inverter drives a step-up transformer and the transformer secondary is applied to the voltage multiplier. Thus, it has high efficiency because of the less switching losses by virtue of the current resonant half-bridge inverter, and also compact size, small parasitic capacitance in the transformer stage owing to the low number of a winding turn of the step up transformer secondary by combining with Cockroft-Walton circuit. We could be obtained the maximum laser output power of 44 W and the maximum system efficiency of over 16 %.

LCD 백라이트 도광판 제조용 레이저 마킹에 관한 연구 (Laser Marking Process for LCD Light Guide Panel)

  • A light guide panel is an element of the LCD backlight module that is often used for the display of compact electronic devices. In this study, a laser marking system is proposed to fabricate light guide panel, which can replace other manufacturing methods such as silk printing, stamping, or v-cutting methods. The objective of this research is to evaluate the process parameters of the laser marking system. Light guide patterns were marked with a 50W $CO_2$ laser (CW) to understand the effects of average power and scanning speed on the geometry and quality of groove pattern. The width of the fabricated grooves increases with increasing laser power and decreasing scan speed. In order to analyze surface characteristics and optical properties (luminance, uniformity), SEM photography and BM7 (luminance measuring system) were used. As a result, the optimal conditions of the process parameters were determined.

  • We stabilized the frequency and power of a high voltage excited CW CO2 laser on the peak of the Doppler broadened gain curve using the photoacoustic effect generated from the laser itself. The photoacoustic signal is directly coupled from an radio frequency discharge chamber via a capacitor microphone into a detector and a lock-in stabilizer. The frequency stability is estimated to be better then 1.2×10/sup -7/ at the transition P(20) line. The stabilized output power variation was reduced to from 77 % to 3.3 %.

  • This paper show the 2kW fiber laser cutting properties of SS400. The study was comparison of traditional 4kW $CO_2$ Laser cutting and 2kW Fiber laser cutting characteristics for the application of Industrial 2D Laser Cutting Machine. The laser used in this investigation was an IPG YLU-2000 multi-mode Ytterbium Fiber machine with a maximum power of 2000W and a wave length of 1070 nm. The laser was used in its Continuous Wave (CW) mode with an approximately top hat beam intensity distribution. Fiber laser high quality cuts at a large range of speeds (ranging from 2000 to 3800 mm/min) which has been obtained for the 2.3mm Sheet of SS400. 2kW power Fiber laser cut was able to max. 20mm sheets of SS400 (speed range from 650 to 850 mm/min). Fiber laser cutting used in conventional hole nozzle could cut 12mm SS400 but used in special dual cutting nozzle could cut 20mm SS400.

화염증 CO2 Laser를 이용한 입자의 크기 및 형상 제어 (Control of Size and Morphology of Particles Using CO2 Laser in a Flame)

  • A new technique for control of size and shape of flame-made particles is Introduced. The characteristic sintering time can be controlled Independently of collision time by heating the particles with irradiation of laser because the sintering time strongly depends on temperature. A coflow oxy-hydrogen diffusion flame burner was used for $SiCl_4$ conversion to silica particle. Nanometer sized aggregates irradiated by a high power CW $CO_2$ laser beam were rapidly heated up to high temperatures and then were sintered to approach volume-equivalent spheres. The sphere collides much slower than the aggregate, which results in reduction of sizes of particles maintaining spherical shape. Light scattering of Ar ion laser and TEM observation using a local sampling device were used to confirm the above effects. When the $CO_2$ laser was irradiated at low position from the burner surface, particle generation due to gas absorption of laser beam occurred and thus scattering intensity increased with $CO_2$ laser power. At high irradiation position, scattering intensity decreased with $CO_2$ laser power and TEM image showed a clear mark of evaporation and recondensation of particles for high $CO_2$ laser power. When the laser was irradiated between the above two positions where small aggregates exist, average size of spherical particles obviously decreased to 58% of those without $CO_2$ laser irradiation with the spherical shape. Even for increased carrier gas flow rate by a factor of three, TEM photograph also revealed considerable reduction of particle size.

  • This study has been performed to evaluate basic characteristics of CW-CO$_2$ laser welding process of A5083 and A7N01 Al alloy. The effect of welding parameters, such as shielding gas, gas flow rate, laser power and welding speed on the bead shape and porosity from bead on plate welding tests have been investigated. Welds shielded by He gas had deeper penetration and better bead shape than those shielded by Ar. The penetration depth was augmented with the increase of laser Power and the decrease of welding speed. Welds of A7N01 alloy had deeper penetration than those of A5083 alloy In beads of A5083 alloy which has deeper penetration, the volume fraction of porosities was high due to the number of its was few, but size of its was larger. The case of deeper penetration beads of A7N01 alloy, the porosity reduced under relatively higher power The Volume fraction of porosities in weld of A5083 alloy was significantly higher than that in weld of A7N01 alloy.

A Study on the Formation of Imperfections in CW $CO_2$Laser Weld of Diamond Saw Blade

  • The main purpose of this study was to investigate the formation mechanisms of imperfections such as irregular humps, outer cavity and inner cavity in the laser fusion zone of diamond saw blade. Laser beam welding was conducted to join two parts of blade; mild steel shank and Fe-Co-Ni sintered tip. The variables were beam power and travel speed. The microstructure and elements distributions of specimens were analyzed with SEM, AES, EPMA and so on. It was found that these imperfections were responded to heat input. Irregular humps were reduced in 10.4∼l7.6kJ/m heat input range. However there were no clear evidences, which could explain the relations between humps formation and heat input. The number of outer cavity and inner cavity decreased as heat input was increased. Considering both possible defects formations mechanisms, it could be thought that outer cavity was caused by insufficient refill of keyhole, which was from rapid solidification of molten metal and fast molten metal flow to the rear keyhole wall at low heat input. More inner cavities were found near the interface of the fusion zone and sintered segment and in the bottom of the fusion zone. Inner cavity was mainly formed in the upper fusion zone at high heat input whereas was in the bottom at low heat input. Inner cavity was from trapping of coarsened preexist pores in the sintered tip and metal vapor due to rapid solidification of molten metal before the bubbles escaped.

  • 내경이 2mm, 외경이 20 mm인 BeO 세마믹관을 이용하여 단일 발진선을 갖는 연속발진 BeO 도파관 CO2 레이저를 제작하였다. 이때 레이저의 총길이는 약 420mm이며, 공진기 길이는 365mm 이다. 가스압력비가 He : N2 : CO2 = 5 : 2 : 3 이고, 가스 입력부의 총압력이 91 torr 근처에서 이 레이저의 단일 발진선인 10P(14) line의 출력이 800 mW 이상이였으며, 횡모드는 대단히 안정된 EH11 (TEM00 에 대응) 단일모드였다. 또한 위의 조건에서 이 레이저의 tunability는 367 MHz 였다.
