  • Interference alignment (IA) is a data transmission technique that achieves the maximum degrees-of-freedom (DoF) in the multiuser interference channel for high signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs). However, most prior works on IA are based on the unrealistic assumption that perfect and global channel-state information (CSI) is available at all transmitters and receivers. In this paper, we propose the efficient design of feedback framework for IA that substantially suppresses the feedback overhead. While the feedback overhead in the conventional IA quadratically increases with K, the proposed feedback scheme supports the sequential exchange of computed IA precoders between transmitters and receivers and reduces the feedback overhead that linearly scales with K. Moreover, we analyze the residual interference due to the quantization error in limited feedback and propose the ordered IA algorithm that selects IA pair to minimize the sum residual interference in given channel realizations.

  • In this paper, a new compressive feedback (CF) scheme based on distributed compressed sensing (DCS) for time-corrected MIMO channel is proposed. First, the channel state information (CSI) is approximated by using a subspace matrix, then, the approximated CSI is compressed using a compressive matrix. At the base station, the approximated CSI can be robust recovered with simultaneous orthogonal matching pursuit (SOMP) algorithm by using forgone CSIs. Simulation results show our proposed DCS-CF method can improve the reliability of system without creating a large performance loss.

  • In this letter, the performance of the interference channel with continuously varying channel is evaluated by using interference alignment based on practical channel estimation and channel state information(CSI) feedback and ideal Doppler frequency estimation. In this paper, performance evaluation is performed in terms of sum rate for 3-user interference channel. And also, sum rate is measured according to frequency of channel estimation relating with the calculation complexity. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme outperforms the conventional one which assumes that the channel is constant in a frame in some circumstances.

  • Coordinated multi-point (CoMP) transmission has been regarded as a potential technology for LTE-Advanced. In frequency division duplexing systems, channel quantization is applied for reporting channel state information (CSI). Considering the dynamic number of cooperation base stations (BSs), asymmetry feature of CoMP channels and high searching complexity, simply increasing the size of the codebook used in traditional multiple antenna systems to quantize the global CSI of CoMP systems directly is infeasible. Per-cell codebook based channel quantization to quantize local CSI for each BS separately is an effective method. In this paper, the theoretical upper bounds of system throughput are derived for two codeword selection schemes, independent codeword selection (ICS) and joint codeword selection (JCS), respectively. The feedback overhead and selection complexity of these two schemes are analyzed. In the simulation, the system throughput of ICS and JCS is compared. Both analysis and simulation results show that JCS has a better tradeoff between system throughput and feedback overhead. The ICS has obvious advantage in complexity, but it needs additional phase information (PI) feedback for obtaining the approximate system throughput with JCS. Under the same number of feedback bits constraint, allocating the number of bits for channel direction information (CDI) and PI quantization can increase the system throughput, but ICS is still inferior to JCS. Based on theoretical analysis and simulation results, some recommendations are given with regard to the application of each scheme respectively.

  • Introducing the quantized channel state information (CSI), space division multiple access (SDMA) can extract the multiplexing gain with the limited feedback burden. However, huge signaling burden of feedback can still suffer SDMA system because the total feedback data of SDMA is linearly dependent on the number of users. Hence, we propose a new feedback scheme to control the feedback load decided by the number of users. In this scheme, the cut-off level, which restricts the feedbacks of poor conditioned users, is suggested for the reduction of the feedback burden without the performance loss. From simulation results, then, we show that the proposed feedback scheme can achieve not only the sum-rate gain but also the reasonable feedback reduction.

  • In downlink of mobile communication systems, the feedback delay between channel estimation and actual transmission causes inaccuracy in channel-state-information (CSI) and this results in performance degradation. In order to overcome this phenomenon, channel prediction is inevitable. In this paper, an adaptive transmission scheme based on channel prediction is proposed and its performance is evaluated. From simulation results, it is shown that the performance degradation due to the feedback delay is successfully mitigated by using the proposed scheme.

  • Multi-User Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MU-MIMO) technology has recently attracted significant attention from academia and industry because of it is increasingly important role in improving networks' capacity and data rate. Moreover, MU-MIMO systems for the Fifth Generation (5G) have already been researched. High Quality of Service (QoS) and efficient operations at the Medium Access Control (MAC) layer have become key requirements. In this paper, we propose a downlink MU-MIMO MAC protocol based on adaptive Channel State Information (CSI) feedback (called MMM-A) for Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs). A modified CSMA/CA mechanism using new frame formats is adopted in the proposed protocol. Specifically, the CSI is exchanged between stations (STAs) in an adaptive way, and a packet selection strategy which can guarantee a fairer QoS for scenarios with differentiated traffic is also included in the MMM-A protocol. We then derive the expressions of the throughput and access delay, and analyze the performance of the protocol. It is easy to find that the MMM-A protocol outperforms the commonly used protocols in terms of the saturated throughput and access delay through simulation and analysis results.

  • We propose the Optimum Power Allocation (OPA) scheme for Distributed Antenna Systems(DAS) in the time-varying Rayleigh fading channel. Recently, the OPA schemes which uses the Channel State Information (CSI) including a small scale (fast) fading have been proposed. However, the channel is changing vary fast over time due to small scale fading, therefore Bit Error Rate (BER) increases. Because of this reason, we derive the OPA for minimizing BER in DAS, which only uses a large scale fading to CSI and excepts a small scale fading. The simulation results show that the proposed OPA achieves better BER performance than conventional OPA considering a small scale fading in time-varying Rayleigh fading channel, and also has similar performance in Rayleigh flat-fading environment. The BER performance of proposed OPA which derived in Rayleigh fading channel is similar to minimum BER of Ricean fading channel which has small Line-of-Sight (LOS).

  • Multiuser communication has been an important research area of underwater acoustic communications and networking. This paper studies the use of adaptive orthogonal frequency-division multiple access (OFDMA) in a downlink scenario, where a central node sends data to multiple distributed nodes simultaneously. In practical implementations, the instantaneous channel state information (CSI) cannot be perfectly known by the central node in time-varying underwater acoustic (UWA) channels, due to the long propagation delays resulting from the low sound speed. In this paper, we explore the CSI feedback for resource allocation. An adaptive power-bit loading algorithm is presented, which assigns subcarriers to different users and allocates power and bits to each subcarrier, aiming to minimize the bit error rate (BER) under power and throughput constraints. Simulation results show considerable performance gains due to adaptive subcarrier allocation and further improvement through power and bit loading, as compared to the non-adaptive interleave subcarrier allocation scheme. In a lake experiment, channel feedback reduction is implemented through subcarrier clustering and uniform quantization. Although the performance gains are not as large as expected, experiment results confirm that adaptive subcarrier allocation schemes based on delayed channel feedback or long term statistics outperform the interleave subcarrier allocation scheme.

  • Cyclic delay diversity (CDD) is considered a simple approach to exploit the frequency diversity, to improve the system performance in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. Also, the linear preceding technique can significantly improve the performance of communication systems by exploiting the channel state in formation (CSI). In order to achieve enhanced performance, we propose applying linear preceding to the conventional CDD-OFDM transmit diversity schemes over Rayleigh fading channels. The proposed scheme works effectively with the accurate CSI in time-division-duplex (TDD) OFDM systems with CDD, where the reciprocity is ass umed instead of channel state feedback. For a BER of $10^{-4}$ and the mobility of 3 km/h, simulation results show that a gain of 6 dB is achieved by the proposed scheme over both flat fading and Pedestrian A (Ped A) channels, compared to the conventional CDD-OFDM system. On the other hand, for a mobility of 120 km/h, a gain of 2.7 dB and 3.8 dB is achieved in flat fading and Vehicular A (Veh A) channels, respectively.
