  • The purpose of this study is to statistically analyze the correlation between CS Unplugged education and the computational thinking of gifted and talented students. In this study, qualitative research was conducted for 17 students in 5th grade gifted class at an elementary school in the city of Yongin. Students participated in 10 hours of CS unplugged classes. Student questionnaire, class journals, student activity sheets, and student interview records were collected and qualitatively analyzed. In order to supplement the qualitative data, computational thinking ability tests were also administered. The results of the study are as follows. First, CS unplugged education plays an effective role in improving CT of gifted and talented students. Second, it was not every sub-area of CT that CS unplugged education brought statistically significant improvements in. Third, CS unplugged education is suitable to be presented as the first step of the SW curriculum for gifted and talented students.

  • Computer Science Unplugged activities are activities to learn about computer science through learning tools other than programming programs. Existing unplugged activities focus on the procedural thinking process and focus on guiding the thinking process through play. There is a lack of research on unsupervised learning, which plays an important role in machine learning, which has recently attracted attention. In this study, we designed and conducted an unplugged activities for unsupervised learning that analyzes data using video media familiar to elementary school students. The results on the effectiveness of the class were analyzed using the bebras challenge. As a result of analyzing the scores of the pre-test and post-test, it was confirmed that the students' computational thinking and problem-solving ability improved.

  • Recent interest in software education has naturally led to interest in computer science. Computer science is the study of theory and principle of computer and computational systems. This knowledge and concept of computer science is fundamental to software education. Recently, "Computer Science (CS) Unplugged", which is an educational method for introducing students to concepts of computer science without using a computer, has been widely used in classes around the world. CS Unplugged is a method for learning the basic principles of computer science through diverse playing activities. The problem, however, is that these CS unplugged activities take place in class without an analysis of how closely they relate to the core subjects learned in real computer science. Therefore, in this study, we will study on the comparison between the core contents of computer science and the core contents of computer science contained in the various activities of CS Unplugged.

  • SW education is being implemented in all the school due to the application of the 2015 Curriculum. The purpose of SW education is to improve Computational Thinking by using Unplugged Activities, Educational Programming Language, and Physical Computing. Among them, 73 domestic and 85 overseas researches related to 'Unplugged Activities' were compared and analyzed using semantic network analysis techniques. As a result, the research on 'Unplugged Activities' has been started from 1998, and the research has started in Korea since 2006. As the CT is recognized as a core competence for the future society in line with the 4th Industrial Revolution, researches have been rapidly increasing in both the domestic and overseas countries since 2016. In Korean studies, it was analyzed that many main words related to the elemental factors such as 'unplugged activity', 'robot utilization', 'educational programming language' were found. This suggests that future research should move toward research for the promotion of 'CT' which is the purpose of computer science.

  • CS Unplugged education is emphasized as the component of the basic principles of Elementary SW education. This document produced by two other Timbell presents the contents in a variety of topics about computer science. One of the main components is the finite Automata, and this requires the development of educational materials for teaching our situation. So We'll present the finite Automata learning materials for elementary school classes. Learning model that we have presented is a process of self-directed and activity-based learning. For verification of this experiment was the validation of the expert group and was concluded that adequate through the analysis of the diagnostic tests.

  • CS Unplugged education at the base of computer science is emphasized as an instrument for teaching the basic principles of elementary SW education, but these materials for elementary education are very lacking. So We'll present the data error detection and correction materials for elementary school classes. Based on previous studies related to this topic, we developed learning materials for elementary higher grade students using Hamming code. We introduces the card magic in the introduction part. 'error detection and correction' learning materials based on the principle of Hamming code, were composed as activity-based education. The results of the questionnaire survey showed that it had a positive effect on improving learners' understanding of computer science.

  • Algorithm education is emphasized as an instrument for teaching the basic principles of Computer Science. But these materials is very short-fall. We'll present the CS Unplugged-based algorithm contents, which is easy to learn for elementary student. These contents for self-directed learning consisted of the activity-based learning. For problem-solving algorithm learning in everyday life we were developed the hashing techniques on the basis of the basic searching and sorting algorithms. For checking the adequacy of these materials were tested by surveys of teacher professional groups, and we obtain the appropriate conclusions for sorting algorithm contents for improving the problem-solving ability for in elementary student.

  • Elementary information education is currently provided in accordance with the 2000 ICT educational guidelines. Although the focus of education has shifted from practical use to computer science since 2005, in which way academic education should be led isn't yet clear. The purpose of this study was to examine the impacts of computer science education(CS education) by an education programming tool on school children's awareness of that education. The selected students received education about unplugged, scratch and robot programming, part of the computer science curriculum, in 12 sessions. As a result, there were significant differences between the experimental and control groups in all the variables that included attitude to computer science, interest in that, satisfaction level, self-efficacy and perception of the value of CS education. The findings of the study suggested that in CS education, the improvement of thinking faculty should take precedence over practical use of what's learned, which is expected to heighten the value of that education.

  • In elementary school software education, a programming process is experienced through a simple problem solving process. And even this experience emphasizes that the problem-solving process is a CS Unplugged activity. However, CS Unplugged has a disadvantage in that it only learns the principles of computing, and the learner cannot experience real problem solving. In this study, a learning program using artificial intelligence robots was developed with the goal of cultivating the ability to solve problems encountered in the real life of elementary school students. Students could solve complex problems in real life from the point of view of artificial intelligence through the developed program, and increase their interest and understanding of artificial intelligence education through robot control.
