This paper presents a tunable bandpass filter based on the varactor-loaded composite right- and left-handed transmission line (CRLH-TL). The proposed filter is composed of one CRLH-TL unit cell, which corresponds to the third-order bandpass filter. The tunable bandpass filter is designed using only lumped-elements. The use of lumped elements saves space and lowers the fabrication cost. The size of the proposed tunable bandpass filter is $17mm{\times}5mm$, neglecting the feed lines and DC lines. All of the varactors are controlled by one DC bias. The center frequency of the bandpass filter can be controlled by varying the value of the varactors. The tunable range of the center frequency is from 412.5 to 670 MHz. The insertion loss is less than 3 dB, the return loss is more than 10 dB in the passband.

A novel design method of ultra wideband bandpass filter using CRLH transmission line with Dumbell type DGS is presented in this paper. Defected Ground Structure and microstrip interdigital capacitor are used to design the ultra wideband (UWB) filter. CRLH transmission line has composite characteristics of low pass and high pass filter. As control of cutoff frequency of low pass and high pass response on CRLH transmission line, we can get characteristic of UWB filter. We designed and simulated for CRLH transmission lines with one, two, four, and eight cells. A UWB filter using four cells CRLH is designed and fabricated to verify the results. The characteristics of designed filter have center frequency of 5GHz and relative bandwidth of 88%.
The design of a new compact UWB bandpass filter is proposed, which has cascaded center-tapped microstrip composite right/left-handed transmission-line zeroth-order resonators (CRLH-TL ZORs). In an attempt to reduce the size, instead of the conventional half-wavelength resonators or periodic and multiple CRLH-TL cells, only one cell ZOR geometry is adopted as each resonator in the filter. Additionally, two center-tapped ZORs are coupled to increase the slope of the skirt. Besides, stepped impedance matching parts are placed in the paths to the input and output ports to enhance passband and stopband performances. The proposed filter is shown to have the overall size of $0.69{\lambda}_g{\times}0.70{\lambda}_g$, the insertion loss much less than 1 dB, and an acceptable return loss performance in the predicted and measured results.

In this paper, highly linear power amplifier using bandpass filter based on metamaterial and Composite Right- / Left-Handed (CRLH) structure is proposed. The proposed bandpass filter consist of the series capacitor, series microstrip line and the parallel inductor, parallel microstrip line. The insertion loss is minimized at operation frequency and the $2^{nd}$ harmonic is suppressed by the bandpass filter using the CRLH structure. And we improved the Adjacent Channel Leakage Ratio (ACLR) using the characteristic of the proposed bandpass filter. At 2.14 GHz, we have obtained the output power of 38.83 dBm, the $2^{nd}$ harmonic of .61.33 dBc, the $3^{rd}$ IMD of .54.67 dBc, and ACLR of .51.33 dBc at 5 MHz offset, -56.50 dBc at 10 MHz offset, respectively.

In this paper, we propose a way to improve the quality of L-band wireless communication from unfriendly influential factors lying in the neighboring RF bands. The UHF-band system has resonator components and they generate harmonics as the spurious in the L-band. Therefore, a metamaterial CRLH bandpass filter is designed for the purpose of system miniaturization and smaller insertion loss, and its spurious phenomenon is observed in the frequency domain. And its harmonics in the L-band are suppressed by a compact bandstop filter whose equivalent circuit is newly developed. The design methodology is validated by the equivalent circuit to be compared with commercial full-wave EM software simulations, where the spurious is dropped by 20dB. Also, the advantage of the proposed design is presented by the comparison where our filter is much smaller than the conventional parallel edge coupled filter by over 50%, with excellent harmonic suppression.
This paper presents a bandpass fitler of GPS and WLAN band based on LTCC. The structure of bandpass fitler consists of a Butterworth lowpass fitler and highpass filter using CRLH (Composite Right/Left-Handed) transmission line. Using green sheet with dielectric constant 7.2, we fabricated the bandpass filter that satisfied GPS and WLAN band characteristics. We are implemented the bandpass filter at center frequency 1.5 GHz (GPS) and 2.4 GHz (WLAN). Its insertion loss are 1.66 dB at GPS and 3.20 dB at WLAN respectively.
This paper presents a dual-wideband bandpass filter (BPF) with high band-to-band isolation and skirt selectivity using distributed composite right/left-handed (CRLH) transmission line (TL) quad-mode resonators (QMRs). The results of the proposed distributed CRLH TL unit cell analysis are used to establish the scattering parameters and the resonance frequencies of the QMR constituting the dual-wideband BPF. A novel dual-wideband bandpass filter is designed and fabricated, using the derived scattering characteristics. The measured results show that the fabricated dual-wideband bandpass filter has an insertion loss of less than 1.08dB in the lower band, and of 2.01dB in the upper band, a bandwidth of 2.8-5.52GHz and 9.68-12.26GHz, and a band-to-band isolation of more than 38dB, from 6.34-8.42GHz.

In order to enhance the rejection performance of the UWB bandpass filter based on the Composite Right- and Left-Handed Transmission-line(CRLH-TL) Metamaterial cell, we propose the lowpass filtering concept that fits into the design objectives : Keeping metamaterial property and miniaturization. So the bandpass filter itself is made far less than a quarter-wavelength and a pair of symmetric comprises lowpass filtering blocks are placed before and after the center CRLH filter which comprises tile interdigitated coupled lines and short-circuited stob. The design result will show the size of 'guided wavelength/8', the fractional bandwidth over 100%, the insertion loss much less than 1 dB, a flat Group-Delay and a good return loss performance, as expected.

In this paper, we propose the methodology to make the bandpass filters for the Smart Grid IED(Intelligent Electronic Device) smaller than the conventional bandpass filters. The size-reduction of the filters and the filter performances are indebted to devising small CRLH(composite right- and left-handed) resonators and coupling them as the metamaterial structures. The design methodology is validated by the equivalent circuit to be compared with the reliable full-wave EM simulation, and the proposed metamaterial filter outperforms the standard parallel-edge coupled filter with respect to the miniaturization and frequency response.
In this paper, a compact fully printable bandpass filter is suggested for a low-frequency channel 3.2 GHz ~ 3.7 GHz in the Ultra-Wideband (UWB) communication system. It is featured with a small geometry of $0.5{\lambda}_g/15$ and a low insertion loss despite using FR4 as a cheap substrate of a high dielectric loss. This is made possible by generating zeroth-order-resonance (ZOR) from one cell comprising two series resonances obviously separated from one shunt resonance as a third-order bandpass filter. Especially, the series resonance elements are combined with spur-lines bent by 90 degrees, which makes the port-impedance matched well and eliminates spurious hikes in the stopband, while the overall size remains almost unchanged. The design is carried out by setting up the equivalent circuit and the circuit simulation is checked by the full-wave EM analysis. The structure is manufactured and measured to show that the circuit modeling and EM simulation results agree with the measured data.
