Bent slot loop antenna for the dual band wireless LAN (이중대역 무선 랜용 굴곡형 슬롯 루프 안테나)

  • In this paper, Coplanar waveguide(CPW)-fed slot loop antenna, which is applicable to the dual band(2.4GHz~2.4835GHz, 5.15GHz~5.825GHz) for the wireless LAN, is proposed. In order to miniaturize the proposed antenna, slot loop is bent by meandering. The resonant frequencies in the required dual band are adjusted by variation of the resonant length of slot loop as well as slot width. In particular, use of capacitive coupling CPW feed provides impedance matching without a seperate matching circuit, because the amount of electromagnetic coupling can be controlled by the offset between feed and radiator. As a result, it has been observed that the proposed antenna satisfies not only the required return loss(${\leq}10dB$) but also has high efficiency(${\geq}80%$) over the whole frequency band. In order to check the validity of the proposed antenna, some simulated results for return loss and radiation pattern are presented in comparison with the measured results.

LTCC Stacked Patch Antenna for 19GHz Band WLAN (19GHz대역 무선랜용 LTCC 적층형 패치 안테나)

  • In this paper, LTCC stacked patch antenna with a radial CPW fed slot and grounded-shorting vertical-via wall for 19GHz band wireless LAN is presented. Suggested antenna employed a patch and grounded-shorting vertical-via wall for radiation element, consist of feeding structure which a radial open feature at the end of the CPW feed line. The optimal design parameters of the antenna using by EM simulation program. We can see that enough to bandwidth 560MHz for 19GHz band WLAN antenna specification by the optimized antenna.

  • In this paper, we propose an antenna that improves narrow band characteristics which is a disadvantage of inverted-F type antenna and utilizes the structural advantages of small size and low profile by modifying the inverted-F type antenna structure and applying CPW feeding method. Experimental results show that the broadband characteristic of about 40% at the center frequency of 3 GHz is seen, and it is found that the narrow band characteristic which is a disadvantage of the conventional inverted F antenna can be improved. The radiation pattern showed almost omnidirectional characteristics and the maximum gain was about 2.0dBi.

  • In this paper, the CPW-fed Ultra-wideband antenna is designed and fabricated for UWB communications. To achieve ultra-wide bandwidth of the antenna, we propose the mutual coupling of two planar monopole antennas. The mutual coupling of monopole pair of the proposed antenna is optimized by adjusting the parameters, the widths of the planar monopoles and the space between two monopoles. Two UWB antennas with different horizontal sections of the CPW-fed monopole antenna are fabricated and measured to examine the mutual coupling effects on the monopole pair antenna. The measured result show that two antennas are satisfied with UWB communication band(3.1$\sim$10.6Ghz).

  • In this paper, a new CPW-fed cross shape fractal antenna having a self-affinity is presented. This novel configuration, which has anisotropic scaling symmetry, makes smaller profile characteristic compared to the fractal antenna using a self-similarity. Increase of the iteration coefficient, which leads to decrease of the fundamental resonant frequency, shows a good impedance matching condition and multi-band characteristics due to new surface current paths. The radiation patterns are similar to those of monopole antennas. In the K3 stage of iteration, the proposed antenna shows a measured maximum gain 2.27 dBi at 940 MHz. A commercially available software based on the FDTD algorithm has been used to obtain the predicted results. In addition, an RT/Duroid 5880 substrate has been employed for the experimental results.

Design of Ultra Waveband Coplanar Waveguide-Fed L-planar Type Monopole Antennas (초광대역(UWB) Coplanar Waveguide 급전 L자 평면형 모노폴 안테나 설계)

  • This paper presents a coplanar waveguide fed L-planar type monopole antenna which covers ultra wideband(UWB) region of 3.1 GHz to 10.6 GHz. The proposed UWB L-planar type monopole antenna is designed and implemented on the organic substrates( ${\varepsilon}_{r}=3.38,\;@10\;GHz$). The radiation elements, feed line, and ground planes of the antenna are printed on the same conductive layer of the substrates. The bandwidth of the proposed antenna is measured in the range of 3.0 GHz to 11.0 GHz. The measured radiation patterns are symmetrical in E-plane and omni-directional in H-plane. Antenna gains ranges from 1.4 dBi to 4.6 dBi. The proposed UWB antenna shows that the structure is adequate for the design of RFIC.

  • In this paper, the compact antenna with three folded patches for use in a number of bands of LTE, WCDMA, US-PCS, and WLAN at the same time is proposed. As the changes in widths of the 3 patches to widen the insufficient bandwidth are given, it is optimized for $S_{11}$<-6dB(VSWR<3). The CPW with a number of advantages is used in the proposed antenna. The proposed antenna is designed and fabricated with FR4 substrate to the size of $44.9{\times}35{\times}1mm^3$. Fabricated antenna has within $S_{11}$<-6dB under operating bands. And measured characteristics of radiation patterns and gains are shown under operating bands.

Desing of an internal Antenna for Hepta-Band Using CPWG-fed (CPW급전 구조 Hepta-Band 내장형 안테나 설계 및 제작)

  • In this paper, an antenna accessible to the Hepta-Band (GPS, DCS, PCS, UMTS, Wibro, Bluetooth and S-DMB) is designed and fabricated. To get broadband characteristics with small size, we propose a structure of Coplanar Waveguide-fed with Ground, which is based on a monopole antenna. Simulation is performed by adjusting the size of distance between a length of radiation patch and ground plane. The designed antenna satisfies the frequency bandwidth of 1.430Hz$\sim$2.9GHz(67.89%), the gain of $1.3{\sim}3.7dBi$ and an omni-directional radiation pattern at VSWR<2.
