This paper discusses some problems of the TMN-based architecture of integrated network management systems and presents a CORBA-based architecture of distributed network management system with reliability, which maintains location transparency of distributed managed objects and provides an interoperability among heterogeneous networks and systems. In this paper, the proposed distributed management system model has been applied to the TMN based management systems and then considered for qualitative evaluation of system performance. Two different types of implementation models have been proposed: one is a system using a CORBA gateway and the other is a pure CORBA system, which maps all managed objects into CORBA objects. The characteristics of two system model have been compared in the respect of system implementation

We present the web-based remote monitoring system using distributed object technology. In order to provide the desired functionality, the system has used CORBA(Common Object Request Architecture) and Java Servlet to implement the integrated distributed object environment. It converts the existing standalone machine monitoring system into web-based machine monitoring system. It consists of applet program, CORBA server and CORBA client. The usefulness of our system will be illustrated by the application to ICM(Integrated Condition Monitoring) System developed by KIST Tribology Center.

최근 분산 멀티미디어 서비스들의 개발과 사용이 급격히 증가함에 따라 안정적이고 효율적인 분산 멀티미디어 서비스를 제공하기 위한 관리가 필요하게 되었다. 하지만 이러한 분산 멀티미디어 서비스들의 관리는 매우 복잡하고 다루기 힘든 것이어서 강력한 관리 시스템이 요구되어진다. 그래서 이 논문에서 CORBA 기반의 분산 멀티미디어 서비스를 위한 관리 시스템을 제안한다. 이 연구에서는 분산 멀티미디어 서비스를 모니터링하고 제어할 수 있는 관리 시스템의 구조와 다양한 관리 서비스를 개발하였다. 관리 시스템의 구조는 구성 관리나 결함 관리, 보안 관리나 사건 관리와 같은 서비스를 수행하는 객체들로 구성된다. 그리고 분산 멀티미디어 서비스를 위한 기본 관리 정보도 정의하였다. 뿐만 아니라 설계에 대한 검증으로 MAESTRO라 불리는 CORBA 기반의 분산 멀티미디어 시스템을 위한 웹 기반의 관리 시스템을 개발하였다. 개발된 시스템 또한 CORBA를 기반으로 하였으며 관리 서버와 웹 인터페이스 사이의 통신을 위해 OrbixWeb을 사용하였다. 이 시스템은 현재로는 분산 멀티미디어 서비스 관리를 위해 개발되었지만 CORBA를 기반으로 한 다른 분야의 서비스나 응용 프로그램의 관리에도 쉽게 적용될 수 있을 것이다.

오늘날 XML은 구조적인 데이타를 표현하는 수단으로서 널리 쓰이고, 웹 환경에서 그 중요성이 더욱 확대되고 있다. 이러한 XML 기반의 구조적인 데이타를 처리하기 위해서 분산처리환경인 CORBA 환경에서는 XML문서를 주고받는 것이 보편화되고 있다. 그러나 XML문서를 처리하기 위해서 CORBA 환경을 수정해야만 한다. 즉 IDL정의, CORBA 클라이언트, CORBA 서버, 그리고 구현객체까지도 XML문서를 처리하기 위해 수정을 해야만 하거나 설계 단계부터 XML문서를 처리할 수 있는 시스템이 요구된다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 연동 구조는 기존의 CORBA 환경의 수정사항 없이 웹 환경과 CORBA 환경사이에 연동을 지원한다. 본 제안구조는 다양한 서비스유형 즉, 서블릿을 이용한 웹응용서버와 SOAP을 사용하여 기존 시스템과 CORBA 환경과의 확장성을 제공하고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서 제안하는 구조는 XML과 CORBA의 연동을 위해 CORBA 환경의 수정을 하지 않고 유연하게 확장할 수 있다. 따라서, 본 구조를 채용한 웹 플랫폼환경에서는 CORBA환경과의 연동을 용이하게 제공할 수 있다.

본 논문에서는 CORBA에 기반한 개방형 제어기의 응용 모듈 플랫폼을 제안한다. CORBA를 기반으로한 통신 시스템 플랫폼을 제안하였으며 Embedded system에 적용하였다. 실시간성을 고려한 응용 모듈 플랫폼에서 CORBA가 적용되기 위해 필요한 문제들을 논의한다. 끝으로, 현재 진행중인 CRECO(CISL Real-time and Embedded Corba) 프로젝트의 진척상황 및 방향을 소개한다.

This paper deals with the study of distributed design system and the implementation of JAVA based initial design system using CORBA/sup [1-3]/. In the state of initial design, designer should consider other information related to a design part. In this case, designer has a difficult problem to search and calculate distributed data. We propose a special connector named ‘Allocator’and implement an initial design system AIDS(Agent based Initial Design system). AIDS can help designer search and calculate the distributed information. In this study, JAVA and CORBA were chosen for handling network and distribute programming. AIDS focuses on the possibility of incremental concurrent design capability. AIDS is comported of Request-Agent, Calculator-Agent, View-Agent, Search-Agent, and ‘Allocator’. The proposed system can be used for designing initial design of a gripper in the web regardless of operating system.

최근 분산컴퓨팅 시스템은 서로 이질적인 시스템간 상호 연동성 문제를 해결하기 위한 새로운 시스템 아키텍처를 제시하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 기존 CORBA 연통 프로토콜의 성능 및 프로세스간 통신 기법의 분석을 통하여 통신 시스템용 소프트웨어에 적합한 공유 메모리 기반의 CORBA 연동 프로토콜 모델을 제시한다. 동일 호스트상에서 메시지 전달 오버헤드를 최소화하기 위해, 제안된 모델을 통신 시스템 개발에 표준화된 CORBA 메커니즘을 적용함으로써 목적 통신 시스템의 하드웨어 구조에 독립적이며 융통성 및 확장성 있는 소프트웨어 구조의 개발이 가능하고 소프트웨어의 생산성과 품질 및 재사용성을 향상시킬 수 있다.

In this paper, we present the methods to develop a Web-based CAM system that is capable to simulate machining processes in solid model form through internet. The methods include the dynamic representation on Web of machining operation, workpiece definition on the request of users, interpretation technique of NC par programs through CORBA, and algorithm for efficient machining simulation. Based on the methods, a Web-based CAM system it implemented at http://virtual.ulsan.ac.kr. Using the Web-based CAM system, public users tan simulate machining processes by own NC part programs.

The paper proposed a basic architecture of an agent system to support exchange and sharing of design informations by means of ACL(Agent Communication Language) which can represent design informations and knowledges. Based on the architecture of the agent system a ship initial design agent system was implemented in order to show the effectiveness of the agent-based system. The basic architecture of the agent consists of an ACL handlerand CORBA(Common Object Request Broker Architecture) objects for the exchange of ACL messages in the heterogeneous and distributed environment. The ACL handler can process expressions of knowledge and manage communication messages among the agents. The paper mainly focuses on the implementation of the ACL handler. The ACL handler consist of a KQML(Knowledge Query and Manipulation Language) handler that manages KQML messages, a conversation module, and a content handler that handles message contents. The conversation modulo implements conversation policies and checks all messages if they are allowable and meaningful messages based on the conversation policies. The implemented agent-based system was applied to the ship initial design to show the handling procedure of the agent system.
