Age and Gender in Reddit Commenting and Success

  • Reddit is a large user generated content (USG) website in which users form common interest groups and submit links to external content or text posts of user-created content. The web site operates on a voting system whereby registered users can assign positive or negative ratings to both submitted content and comments made to submitted content. While Reddit is a pseudonymous site, with users creating usernames but providing no biographical data, an informal survey posted to a large shared interest community yielded 734 responses including age and gender of users. This provided a large amount of contextual biographical data with which to analyse user profiles at the first level of Computer Mediated Discourse Analysis (CMDA), articulated by Susan Herring. The results indicate that older Reddit users both formulate more complex writing and enjoy more success when rated by other users. Gender data was incomplete and as such only tentative results could be proposed in that regard.

  • 본 논문에서는 CDMA 단말기의 운영을 위한 Embedded 운영체제를 설계하고 구현하였다. 이 운영체제는 일반적인 운영체제와는 달리 CDMA 단말기에 적합하게 구현되었다. 실시간 운영체제는 우선순위를 기본으로 하는 선점형(Preemptive) 운영 체제인 것이 일반적인 추세이고 본 논문에서 언급한 실시간 운영체제 역시 우선순위를 가지는 선점형 운영체제이다. 본 논문에서는 CDMA 단말기용 실시간 운영체제의 개발 환경과 그리고 개발된 운영체제의 구조와 개발 내용에 대해 언급하였다.

Low Resolution Rate Face Recognition Based on Multi-scale CNN

  • For the problem that the face image of surveillance video cannot be accurately identified due to the low resolution, this paper proposes a low resolution face recognition solution based on convolutional neural network model. Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) model for multi-scale input The CNN model for multi-scale input is an improvement over the existing "two-step method" in which low-resolution images are up-sampled using a simple bi-cubic interpolation method. Then, the up sampled image and the high-resolution image are mixed as a model training sample. The CNN model learns the common feature space of the high- and low-resolution images, and then measures the feature similarity through the cosine distance. Finally, the recognition result is given. The experiments on the CMU PIE and Extended Yale B datasets show that the accuracy of the model is better than other comparison methods. Compared with the CMDA_BGE algorithm with the highest recognition rate, the accuracy rate is 2.5%~9.9%.

  • Authentication mechanism for W-CMDA IMT-2000 system is developed by 3GPP TSG SA WG3. We simulated the mechanism and algorithms. In this paper, we overview 3GPP authentication procedures and present results of our simulation. We validate the mechanism and parameters transmitted during authentication procedures and we also discuss parameters which are unclear in specification.

  • 송변전자동화시스템에서 사용하는 주장치 와 RTU간에는 무선 통신망으로 TRS(Trunked Radio System), CMDA(Code Division Multiple Access) 그리고 에어미디어망을 사용하고 있다. 특히 디지털 TRS기술인 유럽 전자 통신 표준기구인 ETSI에서 개발한 TETRA는 임대망인 CDMA와 에어미디어망과는 달리 비임대망으로 비용적인 장점을 가지고 있다. 본 논문은 송변전자동화시스템에서 주장치 기능을 하는 DNP3.0 주장치 서버와 RTU의 기능을 하는 FRTU간에 TETRA 망을 사용할 수 있도록 MFTG(Multi Function Tetra Gateway) Platform을 구현하였다.
