  • The contents industry is usually divided into the movie industry, music industry, drama industry and the online digital industry. In Korean contents industry, since mid-1990s CJ E&M (Entertainment and Media) has implemented and continued experimental attempts in order to expand the hallyu contents. On basis of a theoretical background, I designed a case study to investigate the mechanism how the CJ E&M's strategy influences on hallyu growth. This study categorized the strategic direction into two key factors: digital business and glocal (global + local) contents production. Those attempts have made positive effect to the expansion of hallyu contents and creation of growth in CJ E&M. CJ E&M have increased experimental movement through digital platform augmentation, digital contents enhancement, and contents creator promotion strategies. In addition, utilization of local contents expert who provide production services for joint production at overseas markets should also be organized to expand the hallyu contents and growth of CJ E&M. This study suggests that the quality of digital business and glocal contents production have a positive relationship with hallyu contents growth and corporate performance.

  • As Hallyu has been spreading and influencing on global pop culture, the Hallyu audiences respond more diverse to Hallyu. This research focuses on the importance of international co-production between Korea and the countries receiving Hallyu and highlights on the roles of global media companies. To do so, this research introduces the international co-production cases in Vietnam which can be the center of spreading Hallyu in Southeast Asia countries. The research resources are journal articles, newspapers, and the parts of the Focus Group Discussion in Vietnam. The international co-productions between Korea and the countries can provide the opportunity for diversifying Hallyu contents and for communicating with Hallyu receivers better. This research considers the development trends of Hallyu contents based on the cases of CJ E&M in Vietnam and emphasizes building cooperative relationships with Vietnam cultural industry. Furthermore, it is necessary to support the number of Korean media companies to create contents and build networks so that the companies can advance to global media market.

  • The interest on the detonation in small tubes, which can be applied to the ignition devices of propulsion system, is increasing. However, the propagation dynamics of detonation waves in small tubes has not been investigated clearly yet. In the present experiments, propagations of detonation waves in stoichiometric propane-oxygen mixture through transparent tubes were recorded using a high speed camera and average velocities were measured as well. In terms of average velocity, there exists a transition regime where the waves show smooth transition from the normal Chapman-Jouguet(CJ) detonation to the low velocity detonation$(\sim0.5V_{CJ})$ along the decreasing initial pressure. In this transition regime, the detonation waves are highly unstable and show cyclic or intermittent longitudinal velocity fluctuation.

  • In this study, Bacillus polyfermenticus CJ6 harboring antibacterial activity was isolated from meju. The antibacterial activity of Bacillus polyfermenticus CJ6 was stable in the pH range of 3.0~9.0, but it disappeared after culture at $70^{\circ}C$ for 24 hr. Antibacterial activity was inactivated by proteinase K, protease, and ${\alpha}$-chymotrypsin, indicating its proteinaceous nature. The growth inhibitory effects of B. polyfermenticus CJ6 culture on food-borne pathogens such as Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella Typhi, Listeria monocytogenes, and Escherichia coli O157:H7 were examined in this study. Approximately 6~6.2 log CFU/mL of each pathogen was co-cultured with B. polyfermenticus CJ6 in a 50 mL culture volume for 24 hr. Growth of S. aureus and L. monocytogenes was completely inhibited after 3 hr of incubation. Growth of S. Typhi and E. coli O157:H7 was also completely inhibited after 6 hr of incubation. The antibacterial compounds from B. polyfermenticus CJ6 were purified by solid phase extraction (C18 Sep-pak cartridge), recycling preparative HPLC, and analytical HPLC. Ultra-high performance liquid chromatography and electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry analysis were used to identify the purified antibacterial compounds, which were confirmed to be five peptides (757.4153 Da, 750.3444 Da, 1024.5282 Da, 1123.6083 Da, and 1617.8170 Da).

  • Bacillus velezensis CJ1, showing significant fibrinolytic activity, was isolated from Myeolchi Jeotgal, a popular Korean fermented seafood. When B. velezensis CJ1 was grown on four different culture media, the culture on the Luria-Bertani (LB) broth showed the highest fibrinolytic activity (102.94 mU/μl) at 48 h. LB was also the best medium for growth. SDS-PAGE of culture supernatant showed four major bands, 38, 35, 27, and 22 kDa in size. Fibrin zymography showed four active bands, 50, 47, 40, and 30 kDa in size. A gene homologous to aprE of the Bacillus species was cloned by PCR. DNA sequencing showed that aprECJ1 can encode a protease consisting of 382 amino acids. The translated amino acid sequence of AprECJ1 showed high identity values with those of B. velezensis strains and other Bacillus species. The aprECJ1 gene was introduced into B. subtilis WB600 using an E. coli-Bacillus shuttle vector, pHY300PLK, and overexpressed. A 27 kDa band corresponding to the mature form of AprECJ1 was produced and confirmed by SDS-PAGE and fibrin zymography. B. subtilis WB600 [pHYaprECJ1] showed 1.8-fold higher fibrinolytic activity than B. velezensis CJ1 at 48 h.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the efficacy of two kinds of electrolyzed water with added 0.5% (v/v) citron juice, SAEW-CJ[Strong Acidic Electrolyzed Water with added Citron Juice, pH 2.57, ORP (oxidation-reduction potential) 1,122 mV, HClO 23.05ppm] and LAEW-CJ (Low Alkaline Electrolyzed Water with added Citron Juice, pH 4.67, ORP 997mV, HClO 42.55mV) as storing liquid for peeled taro. During storage at $5^{\circ}C$ until 30 days, SAEW-CJ and LAEW-CJ inhibited the growth of microorganisms more effectively than 0.2% (w/v) APS (aluminium potassium sulfate) and 0.85% (w/v) NaCl did. Total phenolic contents, PRO (polyphenol oxidase) activity, color differences value (${\Delta}E$) and vitamin C contents of peeled taro stored in SAEW-CJ and LAEW-CJ were lower than those stored in 0.2% APS and 0.85% NaCl. The hardness decrement of peeled taro stored in LAEW-CJ was lower than that of the others. In addition, the contents of moisture, crude protein, crude ash, total sugars, and reducing sugars were gradually decreased during storage. However, no difference by peeling methods or immersion liquid was found.
