  • It is crucial to remove trophectoderm (TE) cells of blastocysts for an efficient isolation of pluripotent embryonic stem (ES)-like cells from bovine blastocysts. We evaluated the effectiveness of chemosurgery using calcium ionophore A23l87 (CIPA) by investigating the viability and pluripotency of ES-like cell lines isolated from in vitro-produced bovine blastocysts after CIPA treatment. The blastocysts treated with 50 $\mu$M CIPA for 25 min colonized most efficiently (51% of blastocysts) and developed to ES-like cell lines through 10 passages (4.8% of blastocysts) among CIPA-treated groups with different concentration and duration. In comparison with CIPA-untreated blastocysts, the colonization rate and overall viability of the CIPA-treated blastocysts were five times higher, suggesting that CIPA treatment condition defined in this study was highly efficient for establishing ES-like cell lines without apparent toxicity of CIPA. We evaluated in vitro pluripotency of the established three ES-like cell lines by examining alkaline phosphatase (AP) activity, capability of embryoid body formation, and chromosomal euploidity of the cells. Our cells showed a heterogeneous AP activity similarly to other reports. The cells were able to form simple embryoid bodies during suspension culture and majority of them showed a normal chromosome number of 60, the euploid chromosomal complement of bovine Therefore, our data suggest that CIPA treatment can be safely used for an efficient isolation of ES-like cell lines from bovine blastocysts.

  • Purpose: Congenital insensitivity to pain with anhidrosis(CIPA) is a rare form of autosomal recessive peripheral sensory neuropathy. Patients with CIPA show loss of pain sensation, which leads to corneal ulcers and opacities, self-mutilation of the tongue and fingertips, as well as fractures with subsequent joint deformities and chronic osteomyelitis. The purpose of this report is to highlight the fact that pressure sores also are a potential complication of CIPA. Methods: This case report describes a patient presenting with pressure sores resulting from CIPA. A 5-year-old boy was referred to our department for the treatment of a $5{\times}5cm$ sacral pressure sore as a result of a hip spica cast applied for the treatment of a left hip joint dislocation. He had a history suggesting CIPA such as multiple bony fractures, mental retardation, recurrent hyperpyrexia, anhidrosis, and clubbing fingers due to oral mutilation. A microscopic examination of the sural nerve showed mainly large myelinated fibers, a few small myelinated fibers and an almost complete loss of unmyelinated fibers. After wound preparation for two weeks, the exposed bone was covered with two local advancement flaps. Results: Two weeks later, complete wound healing was achieved. A 16-month follow-up showed no recurrence. However, the patient presented with a new pressure sore on the left knee due to orthosis for the treatment of the left hip joint dislocation. Conclusion: The early diagnosis of CIPA and special care of pressure sores are important for preventing and treating pressure sores resulting from CIPA.

  • Based on my attendance at the CIPA International Symposium(CIPA2023) organized by the International Scientific Committee on Heritage Documentation(ICOMOS), this paper explored research cases applying digital technologies, including BIM, to architectural heritage. The researches presented at this symposium were categorized into specific areas: data acquisition, data management, data sharing&experience. Through this classification, an analysis of research cases in architectural heritage utilizing digital technology was conducted. By categorizing the 43 academic papers from the CIPA2023 based on research themes, trends in the digital architecture field were analyzed, providing insights into future research directions for the digital acquisition, management, sharing, and experiential aspects of Korean architectural heritage. In conclusion, it is deemed necessary to reference and supplement the methodologies, including algorithms, workflows, and approaches developed in each study, to effectively apply methodologies suitable for the characteristics of Korean architectural heritage and its data.

  • Congenital insensitivity to pain with anhidrosis (CIPA) is a rare disease that affects the sensory and autonomic nervous system. The patients do not have the ability to sense different sensations, such as pain, which tends to lead to different injuries. In addition, the patients suffer from fluctuations in body temperature due to autonomic involvement. The present case was a five-year-old girl with a neglected distal femur fracture. X-rays taken during the follow-up showed marked callus formation and pseudarthrosis of the distal femur. She had biting injuries of the tongue, auto-amputation of the fingers, some developmental delay and a history of recurrent fever with an unknown origin. The electrodiagnostic study was normal. The quantitative sudomotor axon reflex test revealed markedly reduced postganglionic sudomotor axonal responses at all sites recorded on the left. She was diagnosed with CIPA. As the initial presentation of CIPA involves the musculoskeletal system, orthopedic surgeons should have a high index of suspicion.

  • Congenital insensitivity to pain with anhidrosis (CIPA) is a rare, autosomal recessive disorder; affected patients are characterized by inability to feel pain and to sweat over the entire body, as well as by mental retardation. Because, in the oral examination, no specific findings on soft or hard tissue may be found except possible lesions due to self-mutilation, early recognition and diagnosis are essential for these patients. Pediatric dentists must be aware of the clinical manifestations and treatment considerations related to uncontrolled body temperature, tactile hyperesthesia and lack of pain reflex. In this case report, dental management of CIPA was suggested by presenting a 6-year follow-up of young patient.

  • Congenital Insensivity to Pain with Anhidrosis(CIPA) is rare autosomal recessive disorder which is known to be hereditary sensory and autonomic neuropathies(HSAN) type IV. It is predilection for male and observed in early infant. Its clinical features include congenital analgesia, which leads to self-mutilation; inability to sweat, which leads to defective thermoregulation; and mild to moderate mental retardation. Its dental features include self-mutilation by nail peeling, which leads to gingival ulcer, tongue ulcer due to tongue biting, and enamel hypoplasia. Partial anodontia is often observed as well. Seventeen-months-old boy with CIPA was reported. This is the case in which the dental characteristics are described and the dental treatment of patient is discussed.

  • The purpose of the this study was to examine the relationship between mother-child interaction play assessment of children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder(ADHD) and delinquency through observational method. The subjects were 30children(normal: 15, ADHD: 15) between 4-6 elementary school grade. Instruments used Parent-Child Interaction Assessment(P-CIPA), Inventory of Delinquency-Oriented Behavior and Korea Children Behavior Check List(K-CBCL). Results showed that following : 1) ADHD affect the delinquency-oriented behavior; 2) there were significant differences in mother-child interaction play assessment between normal children group and ADHD children group; and 3) there was a significant relationship between parent-child interaction play assessment and delinquency.
