As information is the critical resource of business, CIOs(chief information officers)' managerial roles become more important. CIOs work out the organization and information system strategies, introduce changes into organizations, communicate with chief executive officers and users, and take the responsibilities of the information system operation. The CIOs' managerial roles make affects on the information system performance and the organizational effectiveness. They are divided into six sub-roles; leader, liaison, entrepreneur, monitor, resource allocator and spokesman. The CIOs' influences on organizations are evaluated by information systems performance. User information satisfaction is one of the most valid information system evaluation criterions. User participation and user involvement are regarded as the antecedents of user satisfaction. This study investigates the effect of CIOs' managerial roles on user satisfaction, user participation, user involvement, CIOs' six managerial roles do not equally influence users. The results of this study have implications for the CIOs' managerial roles in organizations. As CIOs effectively perform managerial roles, user satisfaction is improved.
In order to investigate how firms appoint and manage successful CIOs, this study reviews previous literatures and finds major factors affecting the performance of CIOs, Eight factors are found and classified into two groups based on time horizon characteristics: ex ante factors before appointment and ex post factors after appointment. These eight factors are also re-classified into three groups based on the degree of interaction between CIOs and CEOs: CIO factors, CEO factors, and interaction factors between CIOs and CEOs. In order to investigate how these sub-groups affect the performance of CIOs, we have conducted case studies on 6 firms that are considered to have successful CIOs. The results indicate that ex ante factors, for instance, a factor whether the CIO is appointed from inside or outside of the firm, need to be carefully considered for the successful ex post management of CIO positions. This study derives several managerial guidelines and finally proposes a future research model for empirical studies.
We investigated the effects of fructooligosaccharides and chicory inulin on the profiles of cecal and fecal short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) and fecal bile acids in rats. Thirty-six Sprague Dawley male rats weighing about 190 g were randomly divided among four treatments; control diet, control diet +6%(w/w) fructooligosaccharide (POS), control diet +6% chicory inulin oligosaccharide(CIOS), and control diet +6% chicory inulin(CI). The rats were pair-fed and experimental diets were maintained for 5 weeks. Cecal and fecal pH was significantly decreased in rats that were fed fructooligosaccharides and chicory inulin. Cecal propionate was significantly elevated in rats fed CIOS diets, and butyrate was lower in rats fed FOS and CI than control values. Cecal lactate was significantly higher in the FOS group than in the control group. The fecal excretions of acetate and total SCFA were 200-300% higher in rats that were fed fructooligosaccharides and chicory inulin than in the control group. Lactate excretion was highest in rats that were fed FOS, followed by those fed CIOS and CI. The cholic acid and total bile acid concentrations in feces were significantly lower in the rats that were fed fructooligosaccharides and chicory inulin. The deoxycholic acid concentrations in wet feces were significantly lower in the groups of rats that ate CIOS (0.186 mM), FOS (0.274 mM), and CI (0.362 mM) than in the control group (0.595 mM). Among the fructans, short-chain fructooligosaccharide was more effective at decreasing colonic pH and lactate production, but medium-chain chicory inulin oligosaccharide was more effective at increasing fecal butyrate and lowering the fecal secondary bile acid concentration.

This paper describes a design of scalable RSA public-key cryptography processor supporting four key lengths of 512/1,024/2,048/3,072 bits. The modular multiplier that is a core arithmetic block for RSA crypto-system was designed with 32-bit datapath, which is based on the CIOS (Coarsely Integrated Operand Scanning) Montgomery modular multiplication algorithm. The modular exponentiation was implemented by using L-R binary exponentiation algorithm. The scalable RSA crypto-processor was verified by FPGA implementation using Virtex-5 device, and it takes 456,051/3,496347/26,011,947/88,112,770 clock cycles for RSA computation for the key lengths of 512/1,024/2,048/3,072 bits. The RSA crypto-processor synthesized with a $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS cell library occupies 10,672 gate equivalent (GE) and a memory bank of $6{\times}3,072$ bits. The estimated maximum clock frequency is 147 MHz, and the RSA decryption takes 3.1/23.8/177/599.4 msec for key lengths of 512/1,024/2,048/3,072 bits.
There are increasing evidences that prebiotics can modulate various properties of the immune system. This study was conducted to investigate effects of three kinds of fructans (chicory inulin, chicory inulin oligosaccharide and fructooligosaccharide) and a glucose oligomer(isomaltooligosaccharide) in large bowel mass and innnunoglobulin A (IgA) in rats. Forty five Sprague-Dawley male rats weighing about 1909 were randomly sorted to receive one of the five treatments, which were control diet, control diet+6% isomaltooligosaccharide (IMOS), control diet+6% fructooligosaccharide (FOS), control diet+6% chicory inulin oligosaccharide (CIOS), or control diet + 6% chicory inulin (CI). Rats were pair-fed and received the experimental diets for 5 weeks. Cecal and colonic wall weights were significantly higher in fructan (FOS, CIOS, CI)-fed groups compared with control and IMOS groups, and the length of colon was elevated in FOS and CIOS groups compared with control group. Fecal concentrations of acetic acid and total short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) were significantly elevated in fructan-fed groups. Plasma and cecal levels and fecal excretion of immunogiobulin A (IgA) in rats were not significantly different among groups. However, fructooligosaccharide tended to increase IgA level in cecum. Cecal IgA level was significantly negatively correlated with pH of cecal content (r=-0.337), positively correlated with acetic acid level (r=0.310). Fecal IgA excretion was positively correlated with total SCFA (r=0.311) and propionic acid (r=0.400) level in feces. These results indicate that fructooligosaccharide and chicory inulin oligosaccharide exerted trophic effects in large bowel wall, increased production of SCFAs and decreased pH, which were conditions positively associated with cecal and colonic IgA secretion.

Purpose: Intraoral scanners, desktop scanners, and cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) are being used in a complementary way for diagnosis and treatment planning. Limited patient-based results are available about dimensional reproducibility among different three-dimensional imaging systems. This study aimed to evaluate dimensional reproducibility among patient-derived digital models created from an intraoral scanner, desktop scanner, and two CBCT systems. Materials and Methods: Twenty-nine arches from sixteen patients who were candidates for implant treatments were enrolled. Different types of CBCT systems (KCT and VCT) were used before and after the surgery. Polyvinylsiloxane impressions were taken on the enrolled arches after the healing period. Gypsum casts were fabricated and scanned with an intraoral scanner (CIOS) and desktop scanner (MDS). Four test groups of digital models, each from CIOS, MDS, KCT, and VCT, respectively, were compared to the reference gypsum cast group. For comparison of linear measurements, intercanine and intermolar widths and left and right canine to molar lengths were measured on individual gypsum cast and digital models. All measurements were triplicated, and the averages were used for statistics. Bland-Altman plots were drawn to assess the degree of agreement between each test group with the reference gypsum cast group. A linear mixed model was used to analyze the fixed effect of the test groups compared to the reference group (α=0.05). Result: The Bland-Altman plots showed that the bias of each test group was -0.07 mm for CIOS, -0.07 mm for MDS, -0.21 mm for VCT, and -0.25 mm for KCT. The linear mixed model did not show significant differences between the test and reference groups (P>0.05). Conclusion: The linear distances measured on the digital models created from CIOS, MDS, and two CBCT systems showed slightly larger than the references but clinically acceptable reproducibility for diagnosis and treatment planning.

This study was conducted to investigate effects of fructans (chicory inulin, fructooligosaccharide and chicory inulin oligosaccharide) on blood glucose, activities of disaccharidases in small bowel and kidneys, and splenocyte proliferation in streptozotocin-induced diabetic mice. Sixty ICR male mice were divided into one normal group and four diabetic groups. Diabetes was induced by injecting streptozotocin after 2 weeks of experimental diets feeding. Experimental diets based on AIN93G diet were control diet, 6$ \%$ fructooligosaccharide (FOS) diet, 6$\%$ chicory inulin oligosaccharide (CIOS) diet, 6$\%$ chicory inulin (Cl) diet, and given for 25 days after streptozotocin injection. Plasma glucose was lower in Diabetic-Cl group as compared to Diabetic-control group. Plasma insulin level was not different among diabetic groups. Specific activities of jejunal maltase and sucrase in diabetic groups were about double as that of Normal group. Jejunal maltase activity and plasma glucose were positively correlated (r=0.643). However, specific activity of renal maltase in diabetic groups was not significantly different as compared to Normal group. Stimulation index of splenocyte proliferation by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) was significantly increased in Diabetic-CIOS as compared to Diabetic-control. Stimulation index of splenocyte proliferation by Concanavalin A (ConA) tended to be higher in Diabetic-CIOS group. Concentrations of interleukin-2 and interferon- $\gamma$ secreted from splenocytes induced by ConA were not significantly different among all groups. In conclusion, fructans may be effective for lowering plasma glucose, possibly by lowering disaccharidase activity and for increasing immune responses in diabetic con-ditions, where their effects can be different depending on degree of polymerization.
In last several years, the need for the right of privacy and mobile banking has increased. The RSA system is one of the most widely used public key cryptography systems, and its core arithmetic operation IS modular multiplication. P. L. Montgomery proposed a very efficient modular multiplication technique that is well suited to hardware implementation. In this paper, the montgomery modular multiplication algorithms(CIOS, SOS, FIOS) , developed by Cetin Kaya Koc, is presented and implemented using radix-16 and Altera FPGA. Also, we undertake comparisons of power dissipation using Quatrus II PowerPlay Power Analyzer.

This study integrated the factors for enterprise-wide IS implementation and BPMS-specific factors to examine factors for effective BPMS implementation. We interviewed IT-consultants and CIOs who conducted BPMS projects. As a result, monitoring function has been agreed as a main BPMS-specific factor. We reviewed literature on BPMS implementation and Computer-based monitoring and integrated the factors from the literature with TAM. We used structural equation modeling to test hypotheses and found some organizational factors such as reward management, boss' fairness were significant.
This study was conducted to analyze Korean companie's perception in IT investment cost-benefit analysis(CBA), and to see if various user group's perception is different. Literature was reviewed to classify and define variables in IT CBA, and questionnaire was distributed to CEOs, CIOs, IT managers, and general managers in Korean companies. Respondent's priority ranking in IT CBA was shown to be tangible benefit, direct cost/intangible benefit, and indirect cost/risk. Data analysis showed that Korean companie's actual practice in CBA was generally aligned with their perception. User group's(Executives vs. mangers, and IT managers vs. general managers) perception was not shown to be statistically different. Survey result also showed that IT CBA was not well practiced in the companies although respondents perceive the analysis very important. These findings suggest that more education and practical experience is needed for Korean companies to perform IT CBA.
