  • Point of Production/Manufacturing Execution Systems are an essential component of operations in today's competitive business environments, which require greater production efficiency and effectiveness. POP/MES focuses on the valuing-adding processes, helping to reduce manufacturing cycle time, improve product quality, reduce WIP, reduce or eliminate paperwork between shifts, reduce lead time and empowering plant operations staff. In this paper, we implement POP/MES to manage real-time plant floor data which is gathered by I/O server into database management system. I/O server is a software allows data exchange between factory real-time database and several hardware devices such as PLC, DCS, robot and sensor through ethernet TCP/IP protocol.

  • This paper describes on the development of power detection system with one-chip microcontroller. The designed system is composed of power detection circuits and analyzing software. The system detects, 3-phases voltage, 3-phases current, external temperature, leakage current and stores in flash memory. AT89C52 was used as CPU and AM29F040B was used as memory to store the data. The analysis saftware was developed to detect the cause of the electrical fire incidents. With a data-compression technology, the data can be stored for the 43.5 days in a normal state, four hours and fifteen minutes in emergency state.

  • The aim of this paper presents to develop a computer-aided design system for water gate on AutoCAD R2000system. The developed system has been written in AutoCAD and Visua ILISP with a personal computer, and is composed four modules which are the gate-lifter input module, guide-frame input module, template input module and upgrade module. Based on knowledge-based rules, the system is designed by considering several factors, such as width and height of a water gate, material, object of product and maximum depth of water. Employing the developed system enable the designer and manufactures of water gate to be more efficient in this field, and its potential capability for enhancement included FEM(Finite Element Method) and quotation system.

  • Nowadays, the modeling of information systems have been enabled by various models and methodologies that are used for different purposes and perspectives upon the systems. The integrated modeling methodology that integrates these models and methodologies has become important concerns in system integration such as CIM and PDM. The primary objective of this paper is to propose a comprehensive integrated modeling methodology that integrates the OOIDEFO function model, OOIDEFO information model, node model, user interface model, and organization model for an effective analysis, design and implementation for system integration. This methodology covers the generic requirements of modeling methodology such as graphical notations, modeling processes, and abstraction mechanisms. Also, this methodology uses an 00 paradigm throughout the entire systems development life cycle. In order to prove the consistency and efficiency of the proposed methodology, the CIMS for ship production is modeled and prototyped.

  • Computer Integrated Manufacturing(CIM) is a growing technology as a solution for the total automation of a manufacturing system. However, the implementation in the shop floor is extremely difficult due to many reasons. Flexible Manufacturing System (FMS) is usually considered as a solution for the shop floor automation. One of the difficulties in FMS is the communications problem. Since various machinaries with different communications protocols are included, applying a unified scheme is almost impossible. Therefore, a systematic approach is a key point to solve the communication problem. A cell is defined as an automation unit where closely related for a job reside together. A cell is a messenger between upper level computers and lower level machine equipment. In this research, the functions of the cell are defined to have more capabilities than conventional cell since a cell can be often a total manufacturing system in a small to medium sized factory. The cell conducts communications with different machines through the communications schemes established here. A set of software system has been developed according to the defined communications. The software has been tested for a simulation and real experiments for proof.

  • This paper describes a task level cell programming environment that deals with difficulties in programming Flexible Manufacturing Cells (FMCs), and consists of the cell programming editor and the automatic generation module. In the cell programming editor, cell programs can be developed with task- oriented cell specifications that reduces the amount of details to be considered by cell programmers. The automatic generation module transforms task specifications into executable programs used by cell constituents. The development tool in designing the environment is an object-oriented approach which provides a simple to use and intuitive user interface, and allows for an easy development of object models associated with the environment. Test results are illustrated in order to demonstrate the applicability of the developed envifonment.

  • Comtputer Aided Process Planning(CAPP) has been emerged as playing a key role in Computer Integrated Manufactunng(CIM) as the most critical link to integrate CAD and CAM. A modified variant CAPP system based on process planning rule base is developed in this paper. This CAPP system generates process plans automatically according to the GT code data provided as input. In order to execute process planning, various process planning rules are constructed in the form of decision tree and the inference engine that extracts the process plan based on the tree-structured rules are implemented.

  • 전통적인 원가계산 시스템에서 원가의 정확성은 생산량의 증감에 다라 변동하는 제조간접비에 의존하게 되며, 원가 배부기준은 대부분 생산하고 있는 제품의 수량과 밀접하다. 그러나, FMS 혹은 CIM등의 고도로 발달한 제조환경에서의 제조간접비는 반드시 생산량에 비례하지 않는다. 즉, 제품원가 구조변화 및 생산의 복잡성과 다양성에 따른 기업환경 변화 등이 주원인이 될 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 ABC 원가계산 시스템과 LP Model에 의한 전통적인 원가계산 방식과는 다른 ABC 원가계산 시스템을 만들었으며, 원가 활동동인에 따라 생산성 및 생산성 향상, 최적투자 활동 등을 수행할 수 있는 FMS 생산시스템의 최적평가 Model을 구축하였다.

  • This paper presents an automated visual inspection system for the electronic parts manufacturing process. In this system, a statistical process control (SPC) method is integrated into the automated inspection method on a real time base. It shows how the collected data can be analyzed with the SPC to provide process information. Also presented are studies of subpixel image processing technology to improve the accuracy of parts measurements, and the cumulative-sum (CUSUM) control chart for fraction defectives. An application of the developed system to connector manufacturing process as a part of computer integrated manufacturing (CIM) is presented.

  • As the demands of manufacturing automation is increasing, lots of efforts are devoted to the applications of Computer Integrated Manufacturing(CIM) concept in manufacturing shop floor. A workstation is a computer which controls differnet machines in the low level of factory(shop floor). A workstation can be utilized efficiently to enhance the coopetative work of machines. A scheduler is a component program in a workstation and it controls the operation of machines according to a fixed plan. A scheme for the scheduler has been developed for selected machines and software has been made. The fixed plan is stored in a schedule file which keeps machine names, communications methods, information for communications and time for the usages, etc. The scheduler carries out its role by the information in the schedule file. Although the developed software has some Iimitations, the test results show that the scheduler can be applied easily to the automation of the low level of factory.
