자동차 타이어의 Air-Pumping소음 예측을 위한 수치적 기법 (Numerical Method for Prediction of Air-pumping Noise by Car Tyre)

  • The monopole theory has long been used to model air-pumped effect from the elastic cavities in car tire. This approach models the change of an air as a Piston moving backward and forward on a spring and equates local air movements exactly with the volume changes of the system. Thus, the monopole theory has a restricted domain of applicability due to the usual assumption of a small amplitude acoustic wave equation and acoustic monopole theory This paper describes an approach to predict the air-pumping noise of a car tyre with CFD/Kirchhoff integral method. The tyre groove is simply modeled as piston-cavity-sliding door geometry and with the aid of CFD technique flow properties in the groove of rolling car tyre are acquired.'rhese unsteady flow data are used as a air-pumping source in the next CFD calculation of full tyre-road geometry. Acoustic far field is predicted from Kirchhoff integral method by using unsteady flow data in space and time which is provided by the CFD calculation of full tyre-road domain. This approach can cover the non-linearity of acoustic monopole theory with the aid of Non-linear governing equation in CFD calculation. The method proposed in this paper is applied to the prediction of air-pumping noise of simply modeled car tyre and through the predicted results, the influence of nonlinear effect on air-pumping noise propagation is investigated.

선박 폐열을 이용한 100kW급 구심터빈 공력설계 및 CFD에 의한 성능해석 (Performance Analysis by CFD and Aerodynamic Design of 100kW Class Radial Turbine Using Waste Heat from Ship)

  • 본 연구에서는 선박용 폐열회수 발전시스템에 적용 가능한 100kW급 구심터빈의 설계 및 CFD 해석기법을 이용하여 열사이클 시스템 및 구심터빈 최적화를 위한 설계자료를 확보하는 것이다. 구심터빈은 스크롤 케이싱, 18개의 베인노즐, 13개의 로터 블레이드로 구성되며, 해석격자는 격자테스트를 통해 약 230만개 정도의 최적격자를 구성하였다. 질량유량 0.5kg/s, 회전속도는 75,000rpm, 입구압력은 195~620kPa 범위 내에서 8가지 조건으로 설정하였다. 베인노즐 내부로 증기가 유입된 후 출구로 갈수록 노즐의 압력면과 흡입면의 압력이 비슷해지면서 마하수가 거의 같은 값을 보였다. 입구온도와 압력이 $250^{\circ}C$, 352kPa 일 때 등엔트로피 효율은 74%, 기계동력은 108kW의 해석결과를 보이고 있다.

댐의 심층저온수 취수시 수온 성층화 유지 조건에 대한 CFD를 이용한 분석 (Analysis of the Water Temperature Stratification-Maintaining Conditions Using CFD in Case of Intake of Deep, Low-Temperature Water)

  • This study was conducted to forecast inner water temperature strata change by extracting deep water from a dam. For the methodology, the scope wherein the balance between the volume of low-temperature water intake through the virtual water intake opening as installed within the stored water area and the volume of water intake from the surrounding area is not destroyed was calculated through the CFD simulation technique using the computational fluid dynamics(CFD) interpretation method. This study suggested a supplementary method(diffuser) to avoid destroying the water temperature strata, and the effect was reviewed. In case of intake of the same volume, when the velocity of flow of water intake is reduced by increasing the pipe diameter, the destruction of water temperature strata can be minimized. When the area(height) where the intake of water is possible is low, a diffuser for interrupting the vertical direction inflow should be installed to secure favorable water intake conditions in case of water intake on the upper part. This study showed that there was no problem if the intake-enabled, low-temperature area was secured approximately 10m from the bottom when the scope that does not destroy the water temperature strata in case of water intake was forecast using the regression formula.

Visualization of Flow in a Transonic Centrifugal Compressor

  • How is the flow in a rotating impeller. About 35 years have passed since one experimentalist rotating with the impeller. of a huge centrifugal blower made the flow measurements using a hot-wire anemometer (Fowler 1968). Optical measurement methods have great advantages over the intrusive methods especially for the flow measurement in a rotating impeller. One is the optical flow visualization (FV) technique (Senoo, et al., 1968) and the other is the application of laser velocimetry (LV) (Hah and Krain, 1990). Particle image velocimetries (PIVs) combine major features of both FV and LV, and are very attractive due to the feasibility of simultaneous and multi-points measurements (Hayami and Aramaki, 1999). A high-pressure-ratio transonic centrifugal compressor with a low-solidity cascade diffuser was tested in a closed loop with HFC134a gas at 18,000rpm (Hayami, 2000). Two kinds of measurement techniques by image processing were applied to visualize a flow in the compressor. One is a velocity field measurement at the inducer of the impeller using a PIV and the other is a pressure field measurement on the side wall of the cascade diffuser using a pressure sensitive paint (PSP) measurement technique. The PIV was successfully applied for visualization of an unsteady behavior of a shock wave based on the instantaneous velocity field measurement (Hayami, et al., 2002b) as well as a phase-averaged velocity vector field with a shock wave over one blade pitch (Hayami, et al., 2002a. b). A violent change in pressure was successfully visualized using a PSP measurement during a surge condition even though there are still some problems to be overcome (Hayami, et al., 2002c). Both PIV and PSP results are discussed in comparison with those of laser-2-focus (L2F) velocimetry and those of semiconductor pressure sensors. Experimental fluid dynamics (EFDs) are still growing up more and more both in hardware and in software. On the other hand, computational fluid dynamics (CFDs) are very attractive to understand the details of flow. A secondary flow on the side wall of the cascade diffuser was visualized based either steady or unsteady CFD calculations (Bonaiuti, et al.,2002). EFD and CFD methods will be combined to a hybrid method being complementary to each other. Measurement techniques by image processing as well as CFD calculations give a huge amount of data. Then, data mining technique will become more important to understand the flow mechanism both for EFD and CFD.

  • Computational approaches for the aerodynamic design and optimization are introduced. In this paper the aerodynamic design methods and applications, which have been applied to various aerospace vehicles at Konkuk University, are introduced. It is shown that system approximation technique reduces computational cost for CFD analysis and improves efficiency for the design optimization process.

약액주입 시 형성된 고결체의 수치해석 기법 연구 (A Study on Numerical Technique of the Hardened Grout Formed by Grouting)

  • 최근 가압 그라우팅 형식의 약액주입공법이 지반의 지반개량, 차수, 강도 증대 등의 목적으로 널리 쓰이고 있다. 이에 지반조건에 따른 고결체의 크기 및 형상을 측정하여 적정 주입압 및 주입시간을 정하는 것은 경제적이고 합리적인 시공을 위해 필수적이다. 그러나, 현장에서 시험시공을 통한 고결체 채취는 시간과 비용이 많이 소모되며, 그라우팅 공법을 적용한 지반에 고결체의 크기와 형상을 예측한 시스템은 현재까지 없다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 물유리계 약액을 사용하여 주입압(50kPa, 100kPa, 150kPa)에 따른 실내모형주입시험을 실시하고 이를 전산유체역학(CFD)의 porous media모델과 VOF(Volume of Fluid) 기법을 이용한 수치해석을 실시하여 비교 분석하였다. 수치해석 결과, VOF 기법을 이용한 주입모사는 지중 속에 주입된 가압 그라우팅의 거동 및 고결 양상을 예측할 수 있는 기초적인 수치해석적 기법이 될 것으로 판단된다.

3D 스캔과 CFD를 활용한 LPG 폭발사고의 누출량 산정에 관한 연구 (A Study on Calculation of Leakage for LPG Explosion Accident using 3D Scan and CFD)

  • Recently, various engineering approaches have been widely used in the accident investigation field to identify the cause of the accident and to predict damage by accident. Computational analysis is the most commonly used method of accident investigation technique. This technique is mainly used to identify the mechanism of the accident generation and to determine the cause when it is difficult to reproduce the situation at the time of the accident or when it is impossible to perform a reproduction experiment. In this study, The gas explosion analysis for LPG explosion accident generated by defect of the blocking action was performed to determine the accident object, gas leakage amount and predicted the damage caused by the accident using 3D laser scanner and FLACS program. We can quantify the explosive power by LPG gas accident and predict the gas leakage amount, damage by accident and evaluate the stability of the structure through this study. In the future, This method can be widely used in the field of gas safety by improving the reliability and validity of the analysis.

비정렬격자를 이용한 프로펠러 성능 및 주위 유동해석 (Fully Unstructured Mesh based Computation of Viscous Flow around Marine Propellers)

  • A CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics) analysis is presented to predict hydrodynamic characteristics of a marine propeller. A commercial RANS(Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes equation) solver, namely FLUENT, is utilized in conjunction with fully unstructured meshes around rotating propeller. Mesh generation process is greatly accelerated by using fully unstructured meshes composed of both isotropic and anisotropic tetrahedral elements. The anisotropic tetrahedral elements were used in the flow domain near the blade and shaft, where the viscous effect is important, having complex shape yet resolving the thin boundary layers. For other regions, isotropic tetrahedral elements are utilized. Two different approaches simulating rotational effect of the propeller are employed, namely Moving reference frame technique for steady simulation, and Sliding mesh technique for unsteady simulation. Both approaches are applied to the propeller open water (POW) test simulation. The current results, which are thrust and torque coefficients, are compared with available experimental data.

침선어초 주위의 유동특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Characteristics of the Flow around a Sunken Vessel)

  • This paper deals with the numerical and experimental study on the characteristics of the flow around a sunken vessel. Numerical simulation of the two dimensional steady flow on the midship section are carried out by the CFD code which is developed by using finite volume method and which includes the standard $textsc{k}$-$\varepsilon$ model with standard wall function. A experimental study is also carried out for the 1/100 scale model in circulating water channel. A velocity fields around the ship are measuremed by using particle image velocimetry technique. And the fluid forces acting on the ship hull by uniform current are measured by two axis load cell. The computed and measured velocity fields on the midship section are compared with each other in the view point of velocity dstribution and reattachement length, which shows good agreement in quality. The drag force on the vessel also showed the same tendency in both computational and experimental results. However, the quantitative disagreements are shown due to the three dimensional effect of the experiment. The result are used to determine the functional efficiency and stability of the vessel as a artificial reef.

복잡지형에서 난류강도를 고려한 풍력발전단지설계 (Wind Farm Design Considering Turbulence Intensity on Complex Terrain)

  • The investigation on wind farm design using CFD technique was carried out to reduce turbulence intensity in a wind farm. A potential wind farm in Gasiri of Jeju Island was selected for the design and the commercial S/W of Meteodyn WT was used for applying CFD technique. The initial layout of wind turbines was derived using WindPRO which is mainly used for wind farm design in Korea. Then, the distribution of turbulence intensity on complex terrain was calculated and visible by Meteodyn WT. Based on the distribution, wind turbines were positioned properly. As a result, wind turbines could be deployed at positions with minimum turbulence intensity as well as maximum Annual Energy Production, AEP, using Meteodyn WT. It is necessary to take into account turbulence intensity in wind farm design to avoid wind turbine failure.
