A Study on Construction and Application of Nuclear Grade ESF ACS Simulator (원자력등급 ESF 공기정화계통 시뮬레이터 제작 및 활용에 관한 연구)

  • A nuclear plant ESF ACS simulator was designed, built, and verified to perform experiment related to ESF ACS of nuclear power plants. The dimension of 3D CAD model was based on drawings of the main control room(MCR) of Yonggwang units 5 and 6. The CFD analysis was performed based on the measurement of the actual flow rate of ESF ACS. The air flowing in ACS was assumed to have $30^{\circ}C$ and uniform flow. The flow rate across the HEPA filter was estimated to be 1.83 m/s based on the MCR ACS flow rate of 12,986 CFM and HEPA filter area of 9 filters having effective area of $610{\times}610mm^2$ each. When MCR ACS was modeled, air flow blocking filter frames were considered for better simulation of the real ACS. In CFD analysis, the air flow rate in the lower part of the active carbon adsorber was simulated separately at higher than 7 m/s to reflect the measured value of 8 m/s. Through the CFD analyses of the ACSes of fuel building emergency ventilation system, emergency core cooling system equipment room ventilation cleanup system, it was confirmed that all three EFS ACSes can be simulated by controlling the flow rate of the simulator. After the CFD analysis, the simulator was built in nuclear grade and its reliability was verified through air flow distribution tests before it was used in main tests. The verification result showed that distribution of the internal flow was uniform except near the filter frames when medium filter was installed. The simulator was used in the tests to confirm the revised contents in Reg. Guide 1.52 (Rev. 3).

Wind Field Change Simulation before and after the Regional Development of the Eunpyeong Area at Seoul Using a CFD_NIMR_SNU Model (CFD_NIMR_SNU 모형을 활용한 은평구 건설 전후의 바람환경 변화 모사 연구)

  • Newly constructed, high-rise dense building areas by urban development can cause changes in local wind fields. Wind fields were analyzed to assess the impact on the local meteorology due to the land use changes during the urban redevelopment called "Eunpyeong new town" in north-western Seoul using CFD_NIMR_SNU (Computational Fluid Dynamics, National Institute of Meteorological Research, Seoul National University) model. Initial value of wind speed and direction use analysis value of AWS (Automatic Weather Station) data during 5 years. In the case of the pre-construction with low rise built-up area, it was simulated that the spatial distribution of horizontal wind fields depends on the topography and wind direction of initial inflow. But, in the case of the post-construction with high rise built-up area, it was analyzed that the wind field was affected by high rise buildings as well as terrain. High-rise buildings can generate new circulations among buildings. In addition, small size vortexes were newly generated by terrain and high rise buildings after the construction. As high-rise buildings act as a barrier, we found that the horizontal wind flow was separated and wind speed was reduced behind the buildings. CFD_NIMR_SNU was able to analyze the impact of high-rise buildings during the urban development. With the support of high power computing, it will be more common to utilize sophisticated numerical analysis models such as CFD_NIMR_SNU in evaluating the impact of urban development on wind flow or channel.

CFD Simulation for Mixture Characteristic of DME-Propane Liquified Fuels (DME-Propane 액화연료의 혼합특성에 대한 CFD 시뮬레이션)

  • In this study, CFD simulation was performed with commercial CFD code FLUENT for the 3D mixing tank model (1 m in a diameter and 2.5 m in a height) of DME-Propane liquified fuels. Initial condition set-up with existence of DME 146 l at the upper side of mixing tank and Propane 770 l at the lower side of mixing tank. Characteristics of mixture and fluid flow were observed for 34 hours simulation. Two liquid fuel were uniformly mixed within range of 3 mol% after 24 hours, and range of 1 mol% after 34 hours. The simulation result following 4 hours was verified with KOGAS experimental data.

  • An analytical study on BMFCS was carried out by employing the computational fluid dynamics(CFD) method. In this study, the commercial CFD code Fluent(ver. 5.5) was used, and many assumptions were adopted to simplify the situation in the fuel cell. From the simulation, many valuable informations were obtained in terms of distributions of velocity, pressure, temperature, density and current density over the flow field. And thus, it was anticipated that the simulation results were very helpful in developing DMFCs by facilitate optimization of structures of electrodes and flow field of the separator.

Development of a Pre/Post Processor for a General CFD Code (범용 3차원 유동해석용 전/후처리 장치의 개발)

  • In the present study a pre/post-processor program has been developed to be used with a general CFD code. This program is capable of performing the basic functions of the pre/post-processing, which include mesh generation and post processing plots. Also through perspective projection, this program can be used to check the quality of generated mesh by moving around inside the mesh. The smoke visualization can be also performed with the present program to visualize the smoke behavior in the case of fire simulation. The examples of the program execution are given in paper.

  • Ground test facility for the hypersonic propulsion system was designed, constructed and performance test was conducted. The design point was selected using quasi,1-Dimensional CFD analysis before the conceptual design for construction of hypersonic facility After that, specific designs for performance and components were completed using unit analysis CFD code and performance tests were conducted for the various operation conditions.

  • 본 연구는 현대자동차 무향 풍동(HAWT)에서 나온 실험치를 범용 CFD software인 SC/Tetra를 활용하여 모사하였다. 이를 위해서 우선 현대자동차 무향 풍동(HAWT)의 입력 경계층을 설정하고, grid test를 통해 최적의 격자를 찾고, 이에 맞는 난류 모델을 선정하였다. 입력 경계조건 설정, 격자 선정, 난류 모델 선정을 완료 후 나온 경계조건을 활용하여 실제 모델에 적용하여 현대 자동차 무향 풍동(HAWT)에서 나온 결과와 SC/Tetra에서 나온 결과와 비교 분석 하였다.

  • 본 논문에서 연구하고자 하는 팬은 대형 차량용 라디에이터 냉각팬으로써 수치해석을 통한 일반적인 팬의 성능 평가시 팬과 쉬라우드의 형상만을 이용하여 시뮬레이션 하지만 라디에이터를 거쳐 공기가 유입되는 실제 현상에 좀 더 가깝게 모사하고자 라디에이터의 압력 부하를 고려한 시뮬레이션을 수행하였고 기존 해석 결과와 비교하였다. 연구된 냉각팬은 쉬라우드의 전방에 라디에이터가 설치되며 라디에이터를 통하여 공기가 유입되기 때문에 라디에이터의 압력 부하에 따라 팬 성능에 영향을 준다. 라디에이터의 압력 부하 성능을 모사하기 위하여 쉬라우드 입구에 박스 형태로 라디에이터의 외부 크기를 모델링 한 후 수치해석 시 porous media model을 사용하여 풍속에 따른 압력 강하 곡선을 적용하였다. 수치해석에서 porous media model을 적용할 경우 실제적인 형상 모델링 없이도 실험으로부터 도출한 성능곡선을 조건으로 입력하여 실제 현상에 가까운 시뮬레이션을 할 수 있다. 그리고 팬 날개수 증가에 따른 해석을 수행하여, 날개수 변경에 따른 성능개선의 여지를 확인 하였다.

Simulation for Improvement of Temperature Distribution Inside Refrigerator (냉장고 고내 온도산포 개선에 관한 전산모사)

  • With the increasing need for environmental protection, it is particularly important to improve the energy saving and reliability of refrigerators. Generally, the cold air flowing into the freezer compartment transits to the bottom of the refrigerating compartment, which can lead to uneven temperature distribution. This paper proposes two design solutions for improving the temperature distribution problem. Of these, the optimal refrigeration design was selected and tested using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling and simulation. The results showed improved uniformity of the temperature distribution inside the refrigerator, thus benefitting food storage while reducing energy consumption.

  • 유동장의 특성을 구분할 수 있는 척도는 평균자유행로와 특성거리의 비인 누센수이다. 누센수에 따라서 유장은 연속체영역, 미끄럼영역, 천이영역, 및 자유분자영역으로 나누어진다. 고고도에서 비행체 주위의 유동장, 진공에서의 유동장 등이 비연속체영역 즉 저밀도유동장에 해당된다. 비연속체영역에 해당되는 또 다른 중요한 분야는 미세 유동장이다. 최근에 관심이 대두되고 있는 미세항공기(MAV)와 실리콘혁명 이래 유망한 미래기술중의 하나인 MEMS 장치 주위의 유동장 등이 바로 미세 유동장이다. 비연속체영역에서 유체의 이동 및 전달현상을 기술하기 위하여는 Boltzmann 방정식을 해석하여야한다. Navier-Stokes 방정식을 이용한 기존의 CFD 기법이 적용되지 않는 새로운 유동영역이기 때문이다. 본 발표에서는 Boltzmann 방정식의 유력한 해법인 직접모사(Direct Simulation Monte Carlo)법을 이용한 저밀도 유동장 해석이 소개될 것이다. 또한 직접모사법이 이용되기 어려운 다양한 저속 유동장에 대한 해석결과도 소개될 것이다.
