In this paper, the performance of DS-CDMA system with smart antenna is analyzed for different bandwidths (1.25MHz,5MHz) and different channel environments (rural, urban) in wideband multipath channel. For the analysis of smart antenna system, the vector channel having the spatio-temporal correlation is modeled as a time-variant linear filter in time, and each multipath is assumed as a reflective wave from only one direction (only one cluster) in space. Several multipath is within one chip are distingushed into each one and the strongest signal is selected, DS-CDMA system with smart antenna using wider bandwidth present better performance than that using narrow bandwidth. It is shown that the smart antenna is more effective in urban area when using 2D-RAKE receiver.

In this paper, the performance of an adaptive array antenna using Constant Modulus Algorithm (CMA) based on the signal structure for the IMT-2000 3GPP specification reverse link of an asynchronous direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) system are evaluated. In addition, the performance is compared with the array antenna using Least Mean Square (LMS) based on the training signal. The simulation parameters such as the number of multipath, mu10pa1h intensity profiles between path, spreading gain and multiuser etc., are considered in the Monte Carlo simulation. Simulation results demonstrate an adaptive array antenna using CMA may give more capacity gain than the amy antenna using LMS in the case of multipath fading channel.
In this paper, we analyze the performance of transmitter and receiver of W-CDMA system using the channel coding and space time code in downlink over ITU-R realistic channel model. We can improve the reliability of communications and increase the data rate by channel coding, and we can get a diversity gain by using the space time code over fading channels. We also apply the RAKE receiver to improve tile performance in multi-Path fading channel environment.

In this paper, we compared and analyzed the influence of the fading index and the number of branch of diversity in the Nakagami-m fading channel environment when the MRC diversity and the hybrid SC/MRC are applied to the DS/CDMA system. We considered that the number of branches were 2,3, and 4, respectively and applied an individual diversity type according to the number of branches, when nakagami fading index(m) were 1 and 2. We found that when the Nakagami fading index m is small, that is to say, when fading is inferior, the application of a hybrid SC/MRC diversity Rake receiver is efficient; however, when the fading environment is good, the application of the MRC diversity Rake receiver is efficient. As a result, we verified that when the actual communication environment is inferior, the hybrid SC/MRC diversity that selects a strong signal to be received on an individual number of branches could replace the MRC diversity, as a method to achieve a similar performance by reducing the complexity of the system.

In this paper, system model is based on proposed standardization by 3GPP(Asynchronous IMT-2070 system), and we have analyzed the performance of the DS-CDMA/QPSK which cancelled self-interference, so that occurs when the received signal time is delay by multipath fading. We proposed the new scheme that designed for self-interference cancellation and the system performance is calculated in Rician fading and Rayleigh fading channel. The proposed rake receiver can be achieved a gain of about 1 [dB]∼6 [dB] more than generally rake receiver, and will be a very effective method to improve the performance of IMT-2000, and these data can be available for modem design of DS-CDMA.

Turbo codes of long block sizes have been known to show very good performance in an AWGN channel and the turbo code has been strongly recommended as error correction code for W-CDMA in 3GPP(3rd Generation Partnership Project). Recently, turbo codes of short block sizes suitable for real time communication systems have attracted a lot of attention. Thus, in this paper we consider the turbo code of 1/3 code rate and short frame size of 192 bits in ITU-R channel model. We analyzed the performance of W-CDMA systems of 10MHz bandwidths employing RAKE receiver with not only MRC diversity but also SOVA-based turbo code.

We investigate the optimal chip rate of power or rate adapted direct-sequence code division multiple access (DS/CDMA) communication systems in Nakagami fading channels. We find that the optimal chip rate that maximizes the spectral efficiency depends upon both the channel parameters, such as multipath intensity profile (MIP) and line-of-sight (LOS) component, and the adaptation scheme itself. With the rate adaptation, the optimal chip rate is less than $1/T_m$, irrespective of the channel parameters, where $1/T_m$ is multipath delay spread. This indicates that with the rate adaptation, correlation receiver achieves higher spectral efficiency than RAKE receiver. With the power adaptation, however, the optimal chip rate and the corresponding number of tabs in RAKE receiver are sensitive to MIP and LOS component.

The performance of a multi-carrier CDMA system is analyzed considering frequency selective multipath fading and Near/Far effects. The number of multicarrier, multiuser, and arms of RAKE receiver, and the decay ratio of frequency selective multipath fading are used as a parameter for the performance analysis. More over, the distribution and the strength of multiuser interference are also considered. To evaluated the Near/Far effects in a multi-carrier CDMA system, three distribution models are assumed. In the first model. interference to carrier Ratio, I/C, ranges form -4 dB to 4dB, and at each 2 dB interval 20 % of multiuser is assumed to be uniformly distributed. In the second one, I/C ranges from -2 dB to 2 dB, and 33.3% of multiuser is assumed to be equally dispersed at each 2dB interval. The third model is 0 dB of I/C, that is, with perfect power control, multiuser are assumed to be evenly located. In this paper, multi-carrier CDMA system adoption RAKE receiver is proposed to mitigate the frequency selective multipath fading. Form the results, the third model(i.e. perfect power control)shows the best performance, and the narrower range of I/C causes the less effects to the desired signal, which reads to the better performance.

One of the principal disadvantages of multicarrier modulation technique is the sensitivity to the frequency offset introduced by Doppler shift. This frequency offset introduces inter-carrier interference (ICI) among the multiplicity of carriers in the multicarrier modulated signal. However, Doppler spread induced by temporal channel variations can Provide another means for diversity. In this paper, we propose a modified multicarrier code division multiple access (CDMA) system to exploit Doppler diversity as well as multipath diversity. The key work of our framework is a canonical time-frequency-based decomposition of the mobile wireless channel into series of independent fading channel. The decomposition naturally leads to a time-frequency generalization of the Rake receiver that exploits both multipath and Doppler diversity.

In this paper, we develop space-time(ST) Rake receivers for Time Division Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access(TD-SCDMA) base stations(BS). The beamforming of BS transforms the uplink MIMO channel space into many sub-sectors' channels to be nearly orthogonal, thus, well established 1-D Rake technology can be used to TD-SCDMA base station to construct ST Rake, which simplified the system's implementation as well as enlarged users' capacity by the beamforming. The construction and capacity of MIMO sub-sectors by multi-beamforming have been presented. The proposed ST Rake algorithm include the multi-beamforming algorithm for MIMO sub-sectors and classical 1-D Rake algorithm. The calculating formulas for interference plus noise ratio(SINR) and bit error rate(BER) have been derived. Simulations verify that the proposed ST Rake receiver for BS is effective, and the BS systems can get higher system capacity and can be of better performance than presented TD-SCDMA systems.
