  • Structure and Properties of sericinjam sericin extracted was investigated using SDS-PAGE electrophoresis, UV, CD, and DSC. The molecular weight and its distribution of sericinjam sericin showed broad tailing pattern. Circular dichlroism spectra showed that the structure of sericinjam sericin in solution was different with domestic one. However, differential thermal calorimetric properties are similar to each other.

  • SrS:Cu, Cl thin films have been grown by the hot wall technique with S furnace placed on the outside of the growth chamber in order to investigate the crystallographic and optical characteristics. The films have a good crystallinity independent of CuCl wall temperature and PL characteristics showed a peak assigned by the transition form $3d^94s^1\;(^3Eg)$ to $3d^{10}\;(^1A_{1g})$ of $Cu^+$ center. It has also been found that. from the PLE spectra, $Cu^+$ luminescent centers are doped in the host materials. The EL emission from SrS:Cu-based device showed a greenish-blue but shifted to short wavelength compared to SrS:Ce-based EL. The device was obtained the maximum luminance of $110cd/m^2$ and the maximum luminous efficiency of $0.1\;lm/W$ at $V_{40}$.

  • To examine the characteristics of the recombinant thin aggregative fimbriae of Salmonella, the AgfA subunit gene was amplified from Salmonella enteritidis using a PCR. The maltose binding protein (MBP)-AgfA fusion protein was overproduced in E. coli and purified. The secondary structure of AgfA was then elucidated from the difference CD spectra. An estimation of the secondary structure of AgfA using the self-consistent method revealed a mostly ${\beta}-sheet$ structure.

  • Near infrared (NIR) spectroscopy is a powerful technique for non-destructive analysis that can be obtained in a wide range of environments. Recently, NIR measurements have been utilized as probe for quantitative analysis in agricultural, industrial, and medical sciences. In addition, it is also possible to make practical application on NIR for molecular structural analysis. In this work, Fourier transform near infrared (FT-NIR) measurements were carried out to utilize extensively in the relative amounts of different secondary structures were employed, such as Iysozyme, concanavalin A, silk fibroin and so on. Several broad NIR bands due to the protein absorption were observed between 4000 and $5000\;^{-1}$. In order to obtain more structural information from these featureless bands, second derivative and Fourier-self-deconvolution procedures were performed. Significant band separation was observed near the feature at $4610\;^{-1}$ ,. Particularly the peak intensity at $4525\;^{-1}$ shows a characteristic change with thermal denaturation of fibroin. The structural information can be also obtained by mid-IR and CD spectral. Correlation of NIR spectra with protein structure is discussed.

  • Cyclic AMP receptor protein(CRP) is involved in the activation of many genes corresponding to catabolite enzymes in Escherichia coli. In this study, mutant CRP(S128A) was used to elucidate the effect of Ser 128 on the cAMP-induced structural change. Based on the protease digestion and thermal analysis, serine 128 in CRP affects the cAMP binding capability and then structural change of CRP protein. In addition, CD spectra in near UV region revealed that S128A CRP retained the sensitive conformation to thermal effect relative to that of wild-type CRP, in spite of identical Tm values in the absence of cAMP.

  • A new technique to grow a manganese-doped zinc-sulfide(ZnS:Mn) has been proposed using the repeated deposition of the Hot Wall method. The optical characteristics and crystallinity for the ZnS and ZnS:Mn thin films deposited on a quartz glass substrate by the method were investigated. Also, The ZnS:Mn thin film elcetroluminescent devices were fabricated by the method to study luminescence characteristics. All films showed (111)-oriented cubic structure. By the repeated deposition, the deposition rates were decreased, and the optical characteristics and crystalline properties were improved, which clarifies that the method is effective to deposit the thin films with good crystallinity Futhermore, the crystallinity was more improved by the doping of Mn. Only one peak emission at around 585nm originating from Mn luminescent center is observed In the photoluminescent and electroluminescent spectra of ZnS:Mn films and the luminance of the ZnS:Mn-based thin film electroluminescent devices was obtained below 60cd/$m^2$ . The optical and crystalline properties, luminescence characteristics are discussed in terms of the effects of the repeated deposition and Mn-doping.

  • ZnO films were Prepared by ultrasonic spray Pyrolysis on MgO substrates. The surface morphology and crystallinity were observed as a function of substrate temperature by SEM and XRD, respectively. PL properties of the ZnO films were studied by using Cd-He laser. UV light around 3.37 eV was pronounced in the PL spectra. The origin of the PL peak was discussed.

  • We have investigated organic light-emitting devices by doping phosphorescent orange and fluorescent blue emitters into the separate layers of single host. The electroluminescence spectra and current efficiency were strongly dependent on the location of each doped layers. The luminance-voltage (L-V) characteristics of the device2 (ITO/Hole Transport Layer/Orange Phosphorescent emissive layer/Blue Fluorescent emissive layer/Electron Transport Layer/liF/Al) showed the maximum current efficiency of 19.5 cd/A.

  • Three phenolic alkaloid compounds (A,B,C) were isolated from the roots of Thalictrum uchiyamai Nakai (Ranunculaceae). Compound A, a colorless crystalline substance $mp168^{\circ}$, $C_{11}H_{15}NO_2$ was identified to be corypalline (6-methoxy-7-hydroxy-N-methyl-1, 2, 3, 4-tetrahydroisoquinoline) which has been reported by Wu from Thalictrum rugosum. Compound B, $mp166^{\circ}$ and Compound C, $mp164^{\circ}$ were shown aromatic rings by UV, IR spectra and chiral center by CD.

  • Using $CdCl_2$ buffer solution as subphase for LB films deposition, it was achieved successively to fabricate the Y-type mixed LB films of (N-eicosyl pyridinium)-TCNQ(1:2) complex and arachidic acid. By measure of U.V spectra and capacitance, deposition status was confirmed. Electrical conductivity was measured on a perpendicular direction of the LB films and in consequence of calculated was average $2.5\;{\times}\;10^{-13}$ - $2\;{\times}\;10^{-14}$ S/cm.
