  • We developed an observation program for a 2K CCD camera, which was newly attached at the SOAO (Sobaeksan Optical Astronomy Observatory) 61cm telescope. The program was designed to control the telescope as well as the CCD camera and to monitor the CCD image quality, with very easy under the window-based graphical user interface (GUI). Furthermore, applying the automated differential photometric algorithm, we can obtain the instrumental magnitudes of several variable and comparison stars in real-time. Simultaneous photometry enables us to get precise differential magnitudes of variable stars even if the weather condition is not photometric. This new observation system has been using for many astronomical observations from September, 2001.

  • A wide-field CCD detector for solar eclipse observations is discussed. The CCD is supposed to be of a moderate size, and the image of the corona is obtained by scanning the field of view. Results of the 1995 solar eclipse observation are shown which have been made with a prototype of the scanning CCD detector.

  • This paper proposes a view direction-based human computer interface(HCI) system using image observation and EMG signal. CCD camera is available for observation relatively small angular view direction. Large angle is recognized by measuring EMG signal of the sternocleidomastoideus, because it is difficult to detect the large angular view direction by CCD observation. From experimental results, we show the proposed HCI system is useful for the disabled.

  • An automatic observation system has been constructed at Chungbuk National University for the purpose of monitoring the bright and long period variable stars effectively. We improved the control part of 40cm telescope of the LX200 and developed n observing software ObsTool II so that the telescope, CCD camera and dome can be controlled in one software. ObsTool II is a COM (Common Object Module) based software, which can be easily reprogrammed in case that a new telescope or CCD camera is installed. Because this system has an additional function in which the telescope can switch the variable, comparison, and check stars respectively as like a photoelectric observation, we can observe the variable star even if the CCD view field does not contain the comparison star with the variable star. In order to check the system stability a W UMa type variable V523 Cas and a magnetic cataclysmic variable TT Ari have been observed with the constructed system and the results have been discussed in context with the possibility of a further application of our automatical observation system.

  • BV observation of AW Cam (BD.69'0389, HD48049, Bv412) have been carried outusing a CCD Camera attached to 61-cm telescope, at Sobaek mountain Astronomical Observatory. BD 159'0385 were employed for the comparison. A total of 350obserrations were obtained during 3 nights between Jan. 28 and Feb. 19 1993. The light curve have been analyzed by the method of Wilson and Devinney different ialcorrection. The results were compared with the previous solutions.

  • We have developed solar observational system in the department of Astronomy & Space Sciences of KyungHee University, in order to monitor solar activities and construct solar database for space weather forecasting at maximum of 23rd solar cycle, as well as an solar education and exercise for undergraduate students. Our solar observational system consists of the full disk monitoring system and the regional observation system for H a fine structure. Full disk monitoring system is made of an energy rejection filter, 16cm refractor, video CCD camera and monitor. Monitored data are recorded to VHS video tape and analog output of video CCD can be captured as digital images by the computer with video graphic card. Another system for regional observation of the sun is made of energy rejection filter, 21cm Schmidt-Cassegrain reflector, H a filter with 1.6A pass band width and $375\times242$ CCD camera. We can observe H a fine structure in active regions of solar disk and solar limb, by using this system. We have carried out intense solar observations for a test of our system. It is found that Quality of our H a image is as good as that of solar images provided by Space Environmental Center. In this paper, we introduce the basic characteristics of the KyungHee Solar Observation System and result of our solar observations. We hope that our data should be used for space weather forecasting with domestic data of RRL(Radio Research Laboratory) and SOFT(SOlar Flare Telescope).

  • For an image sensor CCD, electrons can be trapped at the front-side $Si-SiO_2$ surface interface in a case of exceeding the full well by bright source. Residual images can be made by the electrons remaining in the interface. These residual images are seen in the font-side-illuminated CCDs especially. It is not easy to find a quantitative analysis for this phenomenon in the domestic reports, although it is able to contaminate observation data. In this study, we find residual images iB dark frames which were obtained from the front-side-illuminated CCD at Mt. Lemmon Optical Astronomy Observatory (LOAO), and analyze the effect to contaminated observation data by residual charges.

  • BV observations for V523 Cas were performed with 1.8m telescope and 2K CCD camera at Bohyunsan Optical Astronomy Observatory, Korea, on October 27, 1999. ${\Delta}m$ light curves for 11 comparison objects were made. It was found that their light curve slopes are different each other. Factor analysis for items of slope, (b-v) , magnitude, X pixel, and Y pixel results that there is strong correlation between the slope and the location (X,Y). It might be due to problems of CCD cooling system.
