This paper introduces a novel dual Full-Bridge LLC(FBLLC)resonant converter for CC/CV Charge of the Battery for Electric Vehicles. One full-bridge LLC resonant converter operates with a fixed-resonant network and the other operates with a variable-resonant network for CC and CV mode operations. The proposed converter can achieve ZVS for all the primary switches and exhibits a highefficiency characteristics like aconventional single FBLLC resonant converter. In addition, the variable-resonant network helps minimize the switching-frequency variation. The dual structure makes the proposed converter possible to achieve ZVS and nearly ZCS for all the primary switches in CC mode operation. Since the proposed converter can operate at a fixed frequency in CV mode, it can minimize the circulating current and achieve nearly ZCS. A 6.6 kW prototype converter is implemented to verify the validity of proposed converter and the maximum efficiency of 98.3% was achieved.
The adsorption characteristics of ions were evaluated for the nitrate-selective carbon electrode (NSCE) in accordance with power supply methods. The NSCE was fabricated by coating the surface of a carbon electrode with anion-exchange resin powders with high selectivity for the nitrate ion. Capacitive deionization (CDI) experiments were performed on a mixed solution of nitrate and chloride ion in constant voltage (CV) and constant current (CC) modes. The number of total adsorbed ions in CV mode was 15% greater than that in CC mode. The mole fraction of adsorbed nitrate ion showed the maximum 58%, though the mole fraction was 26% in the mixed solution. This indicates that the fabricated NSCE is highly effective for the selective adsorption of nitrate ions. The mole fraction of adsorbed nitrate was nearly constant value of 55-58% during the adsorption period in CC mode. In the case of CV mode, however, the values increased from the initial 30% to 58% at the end of adsorption. We confirmed that the current supplied to cell is important factor to determine the selective removal of nitrate.
Inductive Power Transfer (IPT) method becomes more and more popular for the Electric Vehicle (EV) battery charger due to its convenience and safety in comparison with plugged-in charger. In recent years, Lithium batteries are increasingly used in EVs and Constant Current/Constant Voltage (CC/CV) charge needs to be adopted for the high efficiency charge. However, it is not easy to design the IPT Battery Charger which can charge the battery with CC/CV charge under the wide range of load variation due to the wide range of variation in its operating frequency. This paper propose a new design and control method which makes it possible to implement the CC/CV mode charge with minimum frequency variation (less than 1kHz) during all over the charge process. A 6.6kW prototype charge has been implemented and 96.1% efficiency was achieved with 20cm air gap between the coils.

In regenerative mode of an IPMSM control system without a bi-directional DC-DC converter, the 3-phase PWM inverter charges the battery. At this time, the regenerative torque reference for braking must output the proper torque reference to charge the battery. This paper proposed a regeneration control method that controls the voltage and current of the battery through CC-CV control at the regenerative braking torque corresponding to the driver's brake control.
Wireless power transfer (WPT) technology has the advantages of intelligence and facilitation. This paper designs a WPT system applied to battery charging and provides a strategy which switches from the constant current (CC) charging mode to constant voltage (CV) charging mode. The LCL-LCL topology is used to realize the CC output, while the LCL-S (series compensation) topology is used to realize the CV output. The main factor affecting the output characteristics is extracted by analyzing the two topologies above. Based on the main factor, this paper puts forward a modified way to design the system. In addition, on-line monitors for the battery and switches are placed at receiving side, which avoids the need for introducing an information interaction module into the system. Therefore, the complexity of the controlling system is reduced. Finally, simulation and experimental analyses are carried out to verify the correctness of the compound topologies.

Global environmental concerns and the ever increasing need of energy, coupled with steady progress in renewable energy technologies, are opening up new opportunities for utilization of renewable energy resources. Distributed electricity generation is a suitable option for sustainable development thanks to the load management benefits and the opportunity to provide electricity to remote areas. Solar energy being easy to harness, non-polluting and never ending is one of the best renewable energy sources for electricity generation in present and future time. Due to the random and intermittent nature of solar source, PV plants require the adoption of an energy storage and management system to compensate fluctuations and to meet the energy demand during night hours. This paper presents an efficient, economic and technical model for the design of a MPPT based grid connected PV with battery storage and management system. This system satisfies the energy demand through the PV based battery energy storage system. The aim is to present PV-BES system design and management strategy to maximize the system performance and economic profitability. PV-BES (photovoltaic based battery energy storage) system is operated in different modes to verify the system feasibility. In case of excess energy (mode 1), Li-ion batteries are charged using CC-CV mechanism effectively controlled by fuzzy logic based PID control system whereas during the time of insufficient power from PV system (mode 2), batteries are used as backup to compensate the power shortage at load and likewise other modes for different scenarios. This operational mode change in PV-BES system is implemented by State flow chart technique based on SOC, DC bus voltages and solar Irradiance. Performance of the proposed PV-BES system is verified by some simulations study. Simulation results showed that proposed system can overcome the disturbance of external environmental changes, and controls the energy flow in efficient and economical way.

In this paper, a constant current(CC) and constant voltage(CV) control method using a primary-side regulated(PSR) fly-buck converter is proposed. Because the primary-side structure of the fly-buck converter is the same as that of the synchronous buck converter, it always operates in continuous conduction mode(CCM). Therefore, in the proposed method, the load information on the secondary side can always be easily estimated by measuring the primary inductor current at the midpoint of the switch-on period. An accurate CC/CV control can be achieved through simple calculations based on this estimated information. Consequently, the proposed method is advantageous for optimizing the control performance of the PSR converter. The validity of the proposed control was verified using a 5 W prototype of a PSR fly-buck converter. The experimental results confirmed that the current reference of 500 mA was followed within the error range of 1.2%, and that the voltage reference of 12 V was followed within the error range of 1.8% despite the indirect control of the load current and output voltage from the primary side.

In this paper, the proposed charging algorithm is converted from the charging mode to compensate the transient state in the solar battery charging system. The maximum power point tracking (MPPT) control methods and the various charging algorithms for the optimal battery charging are reviewed. The proposed algorithm has excellent transient characteristics compare to the previous algorithm by adding the optimal control method to compensate the transient state when the charging mode switches from the constant current mode to the constant voltage mode based on the conventional constant-current constant-voltage (CC-CV) charging algorithm. The effectiveness of the proposed method has been verified by simulations and experimental results.
