  • This study concerns (i) Botanical characterization of local almond ecotype named "Beldi" based on flowering period and flowers color measurements (ii) Chemical characterization of almond oil such as acidity and peroxide index and specific UV absorbance values (K232 & K270). The color results of 100 flowers analyzed by chromameter shows two different color categories. The first is very light pink to whitish ($L^*=81.58$, $a^*=7.43$, $b^*=8.06$). The second is a dark pink ($L^*=71.64$, $a^*=18.34$, $b^*=4.97$) with a difference in color between the two categories ${\Delta}E=15.07$. Compared to Ferragnes/Ferraduel varieties, Beldi almond kernel has almost a comparable oil yield but different acidity and peroxide values which are 0.81%, $8.12meq/O_2/kg$ and 0.40%, $16.39meq/O_2/kg$ respectively.

  • Design Problems are often both multidimensional and highly interactive. Very rarely does any part of a designed thing serve only one purpose. The activity of designing is thus a goal-directed activity and normally a goal-directed problem-solving activity. This means, problem solving is finding a way to get from some initial situation to a desired goal. Designers are transforming agents within a society whose goals are to improve the human condition through physical metamorphosis. Many theorist have agreed that designing involves problem solving or decision making. Accordingly evaluation plays an essential role in design activity. The evaluation factors include all attributes that have levels specified by quantitative and qualitative objectives Alternatives in multi-objective decision prOblems generally possess numerous attributes by which they can be described and compared. The evaluation factors include all attributes that have levels specified by quantitative and qualitative objectives. However since qualitative factors are difficult to quantify as numeral estimates, these factors have tended to be ignored without regard for their importance to human content. We adapted the Accumulative Evaluation Model as an evaluation algorithm for IDES. Industrial Design Evaluation System (IDES) consists of 3 major modules ( 1 Design Element, 2.Matrix, 3.Evaluation). It is intended to be an aid for design evaluation. The luther thinks IDES is a new design evaluation approach which could provide effective rating of design values to make value judgements. It is an attempt to provide industrial designers with access to design evaluation. The author's aim is to produce an Object-Oriented Evaluation System which can guide the designers and decision makers under complex design projects. It uses\ulcorner an Object-Oriented Programming for this prototype, Because of managing complexity (Flexibility and Reusability) and improving productivity(Extensibility & Maintainability and Programming by User) in software development process. The author has chose the C++ because it is a hybrid, rather than pure Object-Oriented Language.

  • The amounts of volatile fatty acid and carbon dioxide of different salt Kimchis (1.02% NaCl, 3.16% NaCl) and Kimchis fermented at different temperature were determined. After the extraction of the acids with 80% ethanol it was steam-distillated. Identification and quantitative determination of individual acids were performed by gas chromatography and paper chromatography. Carbon dioxide contents were measured by microdiffusion method. Formic and acetic acid were found in four Kimchis. The acetic acid content of 1.02% NaCl Kimchi and Kimchi fermented at $4-5^{\circ}C$ were very high and their carbon dioxide contents were also high. Fifteen taste panels scored 1.02% NaCl Kimchi higher than 3.16% NaCl Kimchi and Kimchi fermented at $4-5^{\circ}C$ higher than Kimchi fermented at $20-22^{\circ}C$. It is assumed that large amounts of acetic acid and carbon dioxide make Kimchi flavorful.

  • One of the most important factors in the work environment of the industrial design is the design process which can systematically synthesize the informations of related fields. Because the computer technology is being radically developed, industrial should not only positively be able to cope with new technologies, but also should positively be able to take part in the development of the integrated system for the process by the new technologies. Recently in the industrial design field, designers are often using the computer~applied-3D modeling techniques in the development process of industrial design products, especially in the visualization level of the design development. In this paper, we studied the workstation modeling process to understand the computer~applied-3D modeling and presented the methods of transfer of the 3D-modeling data of a workstation(SGI) to the AutoCAD data of a personal computer which is generally being used as a drawing tool in mechanism parts. Through the development process of an electronic taxi meter as a practical case study, we check the possibility whether the 3D-modeling data transferred from an industrial design part to a mechanism part can directly be used as the mechanism data. For this, we transferred the 3D-modeling data of an electronic taxi meter created with a workstation(SGI) to the AutoCAD data of a personal computer and checked the usefulness of data transferred from an industrial design part to a mechanism part. Through these processes of data transfer, we aimed to find out the basic principles which can be rationally applied to a mechanism part or a production part.
