The Safety Assessment of Fire needling (화침의 안전성 평가에 관한 고찰)

  • Objectives : Fire needling has been applied as the treatment for various diseases and been getting much attention from Oriental medicine due to its excellent effectiveness as the results of clinical studies have reported. However, the research findings on the safety of treatment method, materials for the Fire needling needle materials and the possibility of burn injury during the procedure are still insufficient. Methods : A thermo imaging camera was used to confirm the temperature distribution on acupuncture needle and the treatment area during the fire needling therapy. Then the degree of thermal injury was observed by H&E stain and TUNEL assay. In addition, in order to assess the safety of acupuncture materials, we conducted MTT assay using a L6 cell line. Results : The average temperature of the skin surface was observed at $47{\sim}51^{\circ}C$ after classic fire needling and $30^{\circ}C$ after warming fire needling. Warming fire needling therapy does not induce a burn on the tissue and a third degree burn was observed locally in the muscle and skin layers after classic fire needling treatment. This confirms that hwa-acupuncture therapies do not cause major burns. According to the safety assessment test result, no cytotoxicity was detected in the warming fire needling materials. This confirms the safety of the acupuncture materials Conclusions : Various research results on the biological safety of fire needling. Since fire needling therapy induces a burn locally without leaving any scar, and as other results indicate, it is considered a safe treatment method.

Effect of Na Salt on the Formation of MgO Obtained from Mg(OH)2 by Precipitation Method (침전법으로 제조된 Mg(OH)2의 잔류 Na염이 MgO 입자 형성에 미치는 영향)

  • The particle size of MgO was examined as a function of the Na content in $Mg(OH)_2$ powders and the calcination temperature. $Mg(OH)_2$ suspension was obtained by dropwise precipitation of $Mg(NO_3)_2{\cdot}6H_2O$ and NaOH solutions. The suspension was diluted by varying the dilution volume ratio of distilled water to $Mg(OH)_2$ suspension to change the Na salt concentration in the suspension. $Mg(OH)_2$ slurry was filtered and dried at $60^{\circ}C$ under vacuum, and then its $Mg(OH)_2$ powder was calcined to produce MgO with different amount of Na content at $500\sim900^{\circ}C$ under air. Investigation of the physical and chemical properties of the various MgO powders with dilution ratio and calcination temperature variation was done by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, BET specific surface area and thermal gravimetric analysis. It was observed that MgO particle size could depend on the condition of calcination temperature and dilution ratio of the $Mg(OH)_2$ suspension. The particle size of the MgO depends on the Na content remaining in the $Mg(OH)_2$ powder, which powder was prepared by changing the dilution ratio of the $Mg(OH)_2$ suspension. This change increased as the calcination temperature increased and decreased as the dilution ratio increased. The growth of MgO particle size according to the increase of temperature was more effective when there was a relatively high content of Na. The increase of Na content lowered the temperature at which decomposition of $Mg(OH)_2$ to MgO took place, thereby promoting the crystal growth of MgO.

Quality Characteristics of Garlic Suspensions Using Protopectin Hydrolytic Enzymes (Protopectinase를 이용하여 제조한 마늘 단세포화물의 품질특성)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the change of functional component and volatile flavor components from garlic for which both were treated with protopectinase (PPase) and mechanical maceration during storage period. Alliin content of gallic suspensions macerated mechanically were 11.0 mg/g at 0 day and 6.6 mg/g at 24 day. Whereas alliin content of garlic treated with PPase were 8.5 m/g at 0 day and 7.0 mg/g at 24 day. Importantly, over 40% of alliin which is the most unstable component during the mechanical maceration remained with an intact form for 24 day after the enzymatic treatment. The flavor component from gallic suspensions were extracted by solid-phase microextraction (SPME) and were analyzed and identified by gas chromatography (GC) and chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS). The number and concentrations of flavor components of gallic macerated mechanically were increased during storage period, and total 18 kinds of flavor compounds were identified. Thus, the PPase treatment of garlic could be a better choice for preparation of the highly valuable and functional processed food as well as for prolonging the preservation period.

A Study on the H3PO4-Treated Soft Carbon as Anode Materials for Lithium Ion Batteries (리튬이온전지용 소프트카본 음극 소재의 인산 처리에 대한 연구)

  • Soft carbons are prepared by heat-treatment of cokes with different amounts of phosphoric acid (2, 4.5, and 10 wt% vs. cokes) at $900^{\circ}C$ to be used as anode materials for lithium ion batteries. From electrochemical measurements combined with structural analyses, we confirm that abundant nano-pores are existed in the microstructure of soft carbons prepared with the phosphoric acid, which are responsible for further lithium ion storage. Significant increase in reversible capacity of soft carbon is attained in proportion to added amount of the phosphoric acid. We also demonstrate the effect of structural modification with phosphoric acid on electrochemical performance of soft carbon to elucidate the origin of additional capacity.

Information Requirements, IS Planning Typology, and IS Planning Effectiveness : An Empirical Study (정보요구, 정보시스템 기획유형, 그리고 정보시스템 기획 효과성에 관한 실증적 연구)

  • 정보시스템 기획(IS planning)은 경영환경의 변화로부터 야기되는 조직의 정보요구 를 제대로 파악함으로써 새로운 정보시스템의 구축이나 실행과정에 반영하는 중요한 과업중 의 하나이다. 하지만, 아직까지 정보요구를 반영한 정보시스템 기획유형에 관한 연구나 정 보시스템 기획의 효과성에 관한 영향에 대한 실증적인 연구가 없었다. 그리하여, 본 연구에 서는 기업의 경쟁력 강화 목표를 달성하기 위해 필요한 정보시스템의 효율적인 관리와 활용 을 위하여 정보시스템 기획에 관한 상황 이론적 접근을 시도하였다. 본 연구는 과업환경을 중심으로 발생하는 정보요구의 유형에 따라 정보시스템 계획을 어떻게 추진하는 것이 바람 직한 것인지를 파악하고, 정보시스템을 기획 시 정보요구 수준과의 적합성(fitness)에 따라 정보시스템 기획의 효과성은 어떻게 달라지는 지를 파악하고자 한다. 이를 위하여 본 연구 에서 사용된 Construct와 변수들은 기존의 정보시스템 기획관련 문헌을 이용하였다. 본 연 구를 위하여 국내 매출액 1000대 기업을 대상으로 설문지를 우송하였으며, 그 중 187부가 회수되었다. 자료분석의 결과, 정보요구 수준과 정보시스템 기획유형간의 관련성은 긍정적 으로 관련되어 있었으며, 정보요구 수준에 따른 기획의 효과성에는 차이가 없었으나, 정보 시스템 기획유형에 따른 기획의 효과성은 유의한 차이가 있었다. 특히, 정보요구 수준과 정 보시스템 기획유형간의 적합성에 의한 정보시스템 기획의 효과성에 대한 t-test결과는 적합 한 조직(fit organization)보다는 적합하지 않은 조직(unfit organization)의 성과가 더 높은 것으로 나타났다.성 형질전환 계통의 식물체 내에서의 바이러스 증식 및 이동과 관련된 저항성 기작, 여러 가지 PVY 계통에 대한 저항성 유무, 수량, 생육 특성 및 주요 화학 성분 함량 등을 발표하고자 한다.-glucose로 구성된 다당류 이었다. 아미노산은 Asp 및 Glu의 산성 아미노산과 Ala, Leu 등의 함량이 높게 나타났으며, 비알칼리 추출물에서 Ser과 Thr의 함량이 높게 나타났다. 다당류 T-AS는 평균 분자량이 2,000 kD와 12kD에서 주 peak를 나타냈으며, 수용성 분획의 평균 분자량은 12kD이고 비수용성 분획은 36~2,000 kD의 평균 분자량 분포를 갖는 것으로 나타났다. IR과 NMR 분석 결과 890 cm-1에서 흡수 peak를 나타내어 $\beta$-(1,3)0glucan과 $\beta$-(1,6)-glucan의 구조를 갖는 다당류로 확인 되었다. T-AS 분획은 C:H:O:N의 함량비가 38.9:5.7:49.6:1.84%이며, 이 물질의 융점은 163 $^{\circ}C$로 연한 갈색을 나타낸다. 분리된 GLG의 항암활성 기전 규명을 위해, in vivo 항암실험, 항보체 활성능, 항체 생성능, serum protein 분비능, 대식세포의 탐식능과 활성능 및 세포간 물질 분비 등의 상관관계를 조사하였다. 다당류 GLG 분획물들 가운데 항보체의 활성이 높았던 분획은 sarcome 180에 대한 항암 활성이 높게 나타났다. 다당류 T-AS의 보체 활성화 기작은 classical과 alternative complement pathway의 양 경로를 통해 활성화 되었다.   • Egg development and early life history of Korean southern spine loach, Iksookimia hugowolfeldi, were observed in the present study. Eggs were obtained after injecting females with 0.5 mL/kg of Ovarprim. Eggs were artificially fertilized using the dry method in the laboratory. Number of spawned eggs were $1,933{\pm}530per$ individual. Mature eggs were slightly adhesive with light yellowish coloring, and they measured $1.35{\pm}0.03mm$ in diameter. Hatching of the embryo occurred 56 h (50%) after fertilization at water temperature $25^{\circ}C$, and newly hatched larvae were averaged of $5.6{\pm}0.18mm$ in total length. At 5 days after hatching, larvae averaged $7.8{\pm}0.31mm$ in total length and their yolk sacs had been completely absorbed. Beginning at 15 days after hatching, the fish entered the juvenile stage and reached $13.2{\pm}0.87mm$ in total length. At 100 days after hatching, the band patterns and external form of juvenile were similar to those of adults, and they averaged $49.2{\pm}4.29mm$ in total length.

  • Artemia often observed as a co-existing organism in the mass culture tank of marine rotifer. The rotifer and Atremia are commonly used as food organisms in the marine fish larvae rearing. In this study, interspecific relation between the rotifer Brachionus rotundiformis (formely called S-type) and anostracan Artemia of the two developmental stages (0 and 19 day old after hatching) were investigated in the larboratory. The population growth of B. rotundiformis and one of the stage (nauplius or adult) of Artemia in mixed culture was compared with that of each single species culture. Culture period was 16 days. Every two days, the number of organisms in each species was counted and transferred to a fresh medium containing $7{\times}10^5$cells/ml of food Nannochloropsis oculata. Culture volume, temperature, salinity and photoperiod were set at 40ml, $25^{\circ}C.$, 22ppt and 24h all dark except to observation time, respectively. The rotifer population growth was greatly decreased by co-existence with Artemia. The coexisting Artemia suppressed the rotifer population growth due to it's high filtering speed for food (N. oculata). This study suggested that contamination by Artemia must be prevented for the stable rotifer production in the rotifer mass culture tank.

Evaluation of Dispersion Stability and Absorption Performance Enhancement of Binary Nanoemulsion Fluids (이성분 나노에멀전 유체의 분산안정성 및 흡수성능 촉진실험)

  • This paper aims to examine the effect of nanodroplets on pool-type absorption heat transfer enhancement and to find the relationship between the dispersion stability and the absorption performance. The concentrations of oil and surfactant are considered as the key parameters. $C_{12}E_4$ and Tween20 are used as the surfactants and N-decane oil is added to the $NH_3/H_2O$ solution to make the binary nanoemulsion fluids. Binary nanoemulsion fluids are dispersed by the ultrasonic vibrator and the stirrer under specific conditions. The dispersion stability of binary nanoemulsion fluids for each oil concentrations is evaluated from the droplet size and Tyndall effect analysis. The absorption performance of binary nanoemulsion fluids is compared with the result of dispersion stability. In addition, it is found that the binary nanoemulsion fluid is a strong candidate as a new working fluid for absorption applications.

  • The DNA damage mechanism by fish oil peroxidation was investigated through the model system of a DNA-mackerel lipid at $37^{\circ}C$. Mackerel lipid peroxidation products induced a great DNA damage with the increment of its concentration, and such DNA damage in all systems examined occurred below $100millieq{\cdot}/kg$ in POV (peroxide value) Singlet oxygen $(^1O_2)$ and superoxide anion${\cdot}O_2^-$ greatly participated in the DNA damage during peroxidation of mackerel lipid, while hydrogen peroxide$(H_2O_2)$ and hydroxyl radical $({\cdot}OH)$ did little show the DNA damage. From the results of the addition of several active oxygen scavengers to the DNA-lipid systems, singlet oxygen ana superoxide anion greatly affected to the increase of POV ana to the DNA damage by mackerel lipid peroxidation, respectively. It indicates that there was a close relationship between the effects of active oxygens in the mackerel lipid peroxidation and its DNA damage mechanism.

  • This study was carried out to evaluate cytotoxic effects of Houttuynia cordata $T_{HUNB}$ extracts on A549(lung cancer), B16(mouse melanoma), MDA-MB231(breast cancer) and SNU-C4(colon cancer) cell lines. We have determined by 3-(4, 5-dimethylthiazol-2-Yl)-2, 5-diphenyl-2H-tetrazoliumbromide(MTT) assay. The $150{\mu}g/ml$ concentration of chloroform extract of Houttuynia cordata $T_{HUNB}$ was shown significantly antitoxic activity on MDA-MB231$(65.96{\pm}5.68%)$ and SNU-C4$(55.94{\pm}7.39%)$ cell lines.
