$V_{2}O_{5}/TiO_{2}$ catalysts promoted with Mn were prepared and tested for selective catalytic reduction of NOx in $NH_3.$ The effects of promoter content, degree of catalyst loading were investigated for NOx activity while changing temperatures, mole ratio, space velocity and $O_2$ concentration. Among the various $V-{2}O_{5}$ catalysts having different metal loadings, $V-{2}O_{5}$(1 wt.%) catalyst showed the highest activity(98%) under wide temperature range of $200-250^{\circ}C.$ When the $V-{2}O_{5}$ catalyst was further modified with 5 wt.% Mn as a promoter, the highest activity(90-47%) was obtained over the low temperature windows of $100-200^{\circ}C.$ From Mn-$V_{2}O_{5}/TiO_{2}$, it was found that by addition of 5 wt.% Mn on $V_{2}O_{5}/TiO_{2}$ catalyst, reduction activity of catalyst was improved, which resulted in the increase of catalytic activity and NOx reduction. According to the results, NOx removal decreased for 10%, but the reaction temperature down to $100^{\circ}C.$

In this study, we have demonstrated the fine structure effect of PdCo electrocatalyst on oxygen reduction reaction activity with different alloy composition and heat-treatment time. In order to identify the intrinsic factors for the electrocatalytic activity, various X-ray analyses were used, including inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometer, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffractometer, and X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy technique. In particular, extended X-ray absorption fine structure was employed to extract the structural parameters required for understanding the atomic distribution and alloying extent, and to identify the corresponding simulated structures by using FEFF8 code and IFEFFIT software. The electrocatalytic activity of PdCo alloy nanoparticles for the oxygen reduction reaction was evaluated by using rotating disk electrode technique and correlated to the change in structural parameters. We have found that Pd-rich surface was formed on the Co core with increasing heating time over 5 hours. Such core shell structure of PdCo/C showed that a superior oxygen reduction reaction activity than pure Pd/C or alloy phase of PdCo/C electrocatalysts, because the adsorption energy of adsorbates was apparently reduced by lowering the dband center of the Pd skin due to a combination of the compressive strain effect and ligand effect.
Six kinds of sugars (Maltose, Sucrose, Glucose, Fructose, Mannose and Lactose) and four kinds of organic acids (Malic, Tartaric, Lactic and Citric) were added by 2-10% for the former and 0.2-1.8% for the later in quantitatively to the inferior quality of Flue-cured leaf tobaccos, and treated at 135$^{\circ}C$ for 10 minutes to examine the effect on deliveries of tar and nicotine in smoke, variation of smoke pH and smoking taste. The results obtained are as follows. Tar and nicotine deliveries in smoke of tobacco show a great reduction with 5-6% addition of sugars. Reduction of nicotine delivery was to be 19% with addition of Glucose. Tar in smoke was, however, increased by 5-8% with 4% addition of Sucrose or Lactose. On the other hand, 4% addition of Glucose and Fructose gave 1 % reduction of tar delivery, but the reduction rate became to be small with increase of adding quantity. The smoking taste by the addition of Glucose and Fructose tobacco was found to be milder than by the other sugars. Tar and nicotine deliveries show a decreasing trend with the addition of organic acid, and Tartaric acid, among the organic acids described above, had greater effect than the other acids. 1% addition of Tartaric acid gaves 10-11% reduction in tar and nicotine delivery, and a fall of smoke pH, from 6.40 to 6.05, was found. Smoking taste by the addition of Lactic and Tartaric acid had milder than the others. And heat treatment for 10 minutes at $135^{\circ}C$ gave also better on smoking taste. The addition of mixture of sugars and organic acids, (Glucose 4%+Lactic acid 0.8% + Tartaric acid 0.2%) and then the successive heat treatment for 10 minutes at $135^{\circ}C$ improved greatly the quality of Fluecured leaf tobacco, and nicotine were reduced to 16-29%, and pH was changed from 6.46 to 6.14.
The effect of irradiation of heat treatment either alone or in combination on the shelf-life of mixed mountain edible herb drinks (MMEHD) was investigated during storage. The MMEHD made from fresh Spuriopinella bracycarpar, Ligularia fischeri and Aster scaber was gamma -irradiated at doses of 0.1 kGy to 1 kGy. Microbial population, color change, vitamin C content, and sensory quality were evaluated during storage at 4, 25 and 35oC. Heated MMEHD induced the growth of total counts, mold and yeast as compared to the non-heated MMEHD. While some reduction in the microbial growth was observed in 1kGy-irradiated groups of both with or without heating. In both groups, L and b values decreased, but a value increased during storage. Also, heating drinks showed increased L and b values and reduced a value, compared to the non-heating drinks. Non-heated drinks showed 82% loss of vitamin C, whereas 25% loss of vitamin C was occurred in the irradiated drinks during storage at 4oC for 4days. In the meanwhile, non-irradiated heating drinks showed 99% loss of vitamin C, but irradiated heating drinks showed 58-65% reduction of vitamin C. Non-irradiated drinks without heating showed more bright color than irradiated ones, but irradiated drinks showed more enhanced brightness during storage. Also, irradiated drinks showed better falvor, sensory quality, and overall acceptability than non-irradiated drinks.
This study was carried out to investigate the formaldehyde emission of building materials and effect of carbonized-board (c-board) on formaldehyde reduction using a chamber method. As a result, reduction performance of formaldehyde was in the order of c-board (90%), c-bamboo board (84%), diatomite-based panel (82%), allophane-based tile (78%), Pinus densiflora timber (58%), MDF (54%) and gypsum-based board (46%) for approximately 12 days. In $1.9m^3$ chamber filled with particleboard (PB), the formaldehyde reduction performance of c-board was significantly increased with increasing input amount of c-board for 68 days. In particular, the formaldehyde emissions can be reduced above 40% and 75% by input rate of 10% and 30% c-board, respectively, in given ratio of chamber volume and PB area.

In the present study, the effect of cold reduction ratio on the spheroidization rate of SK85 high carbon steel sheet was investigated. High carbon steel sheet fabricated by POSCO was soaked at $850^{\circ}C$ for 2 hr in a box furnace and then treated at $570^{\circ}C$ and $670^{\circ}C$ for 10 min in a salt bath furnace followed by water quenching to obtain a fine pearlite structure and coarse pearlite structure. Cold rolling was conducted on the sheets by reduction ratios of 20, 30, and 40 % and heat treatment for spheroidization was carried out at $720^{\circ}C$ for the various time intervals from 1 to 32 hrs. Area fraction of spheroidized cementite was measured with an image analyzer as a function of cold reduction ratios and duration times.
The dependence of polarographic parameters on the pressure for the reduction of copper(II), cadmium(II), and zinc(II) complex ions with ethylenediamine, propylenediamine, and diethylenetriamine has been studied. In this study the dropping mercury electrode, the mercury pool electrode, and helix type of platinum wire were used as the working, the reference, and the auxilary electrode, respectively. With increasing the pressure from 1 atmosphere to 1,500 atmospheres, the reduction half-wave potentials of metal complex ions are shifted to the negative values and the diffusion currents become considerably larger, in keeping with the theory on the change of the physical properties of the electrolytic solution such as the density, the viscosity, the dielectric constant, and the electrical conductance, etc. The slope values of the logarithmic plot are increased with increasing the pressure, which indicates the more irreversible reduction. The temperature coefficients of diffusion current observed over the range of the temperature from 25$^{\circ}$C to 35$^{\circ}$C are about two percentage with increasing the pressure, therefore the polarographic reduction under the high pressure is controlled by diffusion. The linear relationships between diffusion current and concentration of metal complex ions are established over all pressure range.
Synthesis of $\beta$-Sialon powder was attempted with carbothermal reduction of porous glass. The porous glass was prepared by heat and hydrothermal treatments of 9.32 Li2O.46.5B2O3.37.2SiO2.6.98Al2O3 glass. Carbon pyrolyzed from propane gas was deposited on the porous glass, thereafter activated carbon was added as reducing agents. The synthesized $\beta$-Sialon powder was pressureless sintered at 175$0^{\circ}C$ for 1hr in N2 atmosphere. The characterization of the $\beta$-Sialon powder was performed with XRD, BET, SEM and particle size analysis. The sinterability and mechanical properties of the sintered bodies were investigated in terms of bulk density, M.O.R., fracture toughness, morphology of microstructure and etc. The reduction effect of deposited carbon was better than that of activated carbon mechanically added. The formation of SiC was precominant over that of Si2ON2 and $\beta$-Sialon owing to low partial pressure of N2 inside the pore, wehreas on the surface of porous glass the formation of Si2ON2 and $\beta$-Sialon were predominant. Thereafter, SiC reduced unreacted glass to be $\beta$-Sialon. Single phase of $\beta$-Sialon(Z=1.92) was obtained from PGA porous glass having the largest pore radius by the simultaneous reduction and nitridation method at 145$0^{\circ}C$ for 5hrs. The bulk density, M.O.R., and KIC of the sitered body are 3.17g/cc, 434.4MPa and 4.1MPa.m1/2, respectively.
In order to overcome the cost issue for commercialization of polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC), this research was conducted for replacing platinum cathode catalyst with non-precious metal catalyst. The non-precious metal catalyst (Co-PANI-C) was synthesized by the simple reduction method with polyaniline (PANI), carbon black, and cobalt precursor without any heat treatment. Characterization of new Co-PANI-C composite catalysts was done by the measurement of X-ray diffraction (XRD) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) for structure analysis and performed by rotating disk electrode (RDE) and rotating ring disk electrode (RRDE) for electrochemical analysis. As a result, Co-PANI-C catalyst showed 60 mV lower on-set potential for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) than Pt/C catalyst, but the overall reduction current of Co-PANI-C catalysts by ORR was still smaller than that of Pt/C. In addition, the ORR behavior of Co-PANI-C catalysts depending on the rotation speed of electrode and the stability of Co-PANI-C catalyst under potential cycling and the performance of fuel cell conditions are also discussed.

In order to investigate the effect of air temperature reduction on an urban neighborhood park, air temperature data from five inside locations (forest, pine tree, lawn, brick and pergola) depending on surface types and three outside locations (Suwon, Maetan and Kwonsun) depending on urban forms were collected during the summer 2016 and compared. The forest location had the lowest mean air temperature amongst all locations sampled, though the mean difference between this and the other four locations in the park was relatively small ($0.2-0.5^{\circ}C$). In the daytime, the greatest mean difference between the forest location and the two locations exposed to direct beam solar radiation (brick and lawn) was $0.5-0.8^{\circ}C$ (Max. $1.6-2.1^{\circ}C$). In the nighttime, the mean difference between the forest location and the other four locations in the park was small, though differences between the forest location and locations with grass cover (pine tree and lawn) reached a maximum of $0.9-1.7^{\circ}C$. Comparing air temperature between sunny and shaded locations, the shaded locations showed a maximum of $1.5^{\circ}C$ lower temperature in the daytime and $0.7^{\circ}C$ higher in the nighttime. Comparing the air temperature of the forest location with those of the residential (Kwonsun) and apartment (Maetan) locations, the mean air temperature difference was $0.8-1.0^{\circ}C$, higher than those measured between the forest location and the other park locations. The temperatures measured in the forest location were mean $0.9-1.3^{\circ}C$ (Max. $2.0-3.9^{\circ}C$) lower in the daytime than for the residential and apartment locations and mean $0.4-1.0^{\circ}C$ (Max. $1.3-3.1^{\circ}C$) lower in the nighttime. During the hottest period of each month, the difference was greater than the mean monthly differences, with temperatures in the residential and apartment locations mean $1.0-1.6^{\circ}C$ higher than those measured in the forest location. The effect of air temperature reduction on sampling locations within the park and a relatively high thermal environment on the urban sampling locations was clearly evident in the daytime, and the shading effect of trees in the forest location must be most effective. In the nighttime, areas with a high sky view factor and surface types with high evapotranspiration potential (e.g. grass) showed the maximum air temperature reduction. In the urban areas outside the park, the low-rise building area, with a high sky view factor, showed high air temperature due to the effect of solar (shortwave) radiation during the daytime, while in the nighttime the area with high-rise buildings, and hence a low sky view factor, showed high air temperature due to the effect of terrestrial (longwave) radiation emitted by surrounding high-rise building surfaces. The effect of air temperature reduction on the park with a high thermal environment in the city was clearly evident in the daytime, and the shading effect of trees in the forest location must be most effective. In the nighttime, areas with high sky view factor and surface types (e.g., grass) with evapotranspiration effect showed maximum air temperature reduction. In the urban areas outside the park, the high sky view factor area (low-rise building area) showed high air temperature due to the effect of solar (shortwave) radiation during the daytime, but in the nighttime the low sky view factor area (high-rise building area) showed high air temperature due to the effect of terrestrial (longwave) radiation emitted surrounding high-rise building surfaces.
