DLC(Diamond-Like-Carbon) thin film, one of the solid state amorphous carbon films, has been deposited by the method of PECVD (Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition). The structural features have been characterized using both FT-IR Spectroscopy and Raman Scattering. The film is considered to consist of microcrystalline diamond domains and graphitelike carbon domains, which are interconnected by hydrogenated $sp^3$ tetrahedral carbons. This shows a good agreement with the results by I-Vmeasurements. In I-Vstudy, the sudden increase of current has been observed and this phenomenon is understood to be due to the tunneling effect between graphitelike domains. A characteristic feature related to the $\beta$-SiC has been identified in the study of Raman Scattering for the very thin film, which suggests that a buffer layer forms at the interface of the Si substrate and the carbon film.
In order to investigate the mechanical behavior of newly developed materials, the evaluation of mechanical properties using small-size specimen is essential. For those purposes, an instrumented impact testing apparatus, which provides the load-displacement curve under impact loading without oscillations, was devised. To develop the test procedure with the setup, the impact behaviors of various kinds of structural materials such as S45C, SCM4, Ti alloys (Ti-6V-4Al) and Zr-based bulk amorphous metal, were investigated through the instrumented Charpy V-notch impact tests. The calibrations of the dynamic load and displacement that was calculated based on the Newton' second law were carried out through the quasi-static load test and the comparison of a directly measured value using a laser displacement meter. Satisfactory results could be obtained. The crack initiation and propagation processes during impact fracture could be well divided on the curve, depending on the intrinsic characteristic of specimen tested; ductile or brittle. The absorbed impact energy in Zr-basd BAM was largely used for crack initiation not for crack propagation process. The fracture surfaces under impact loading showed different feature when compared with the static cases.
In this study, the numerical simulation and basin model test have been performed to evaluate sea worthiness and resistance performance for a small pre-planning three type of leisure boats which are U, V, Y shapes of hull forms. As a well known commercial CFD code, Maxsurf, was applied for modeling hull forms used as the solver of motion analysis. Also the model resistance test was carried out to estimate the effective power of boat in the basin tank. Numerical simulation and model test results show that Y-shaped hull is better than the other types in terms of heave and pitch motion, having a key effect on a boat sea worthiness. But V-type hull is more efficiency than others cases in resistance performance.
We studied YBCO films for current limiting of the resistive type which utilizes a transition from superconducting to normal state caused by exceeding critical current. The films were deposited on sapphire substrates and covered by gold top layer. The current limiting element consists of 2 mm wide YBCO stripes connected in series. A serious problem in using YBCO films for current limiting is inhomogeneities caused by imperfect manufacturing. Therefore simultaneous quench is a difficult problem when elements for current limiting are connected in series. So some researchers have recently proposed using magnetic field and heating for simultaneous quench. We have measured extended exec trim field-current density(E-J) characteristics for current limiting elements of YBCO films in applied magnetic field of 0 - 130 mT. And we have investigated quench characteristics in current limiting elements and between elements of YBCO films in applied magnetic field. The result of the experiments show that the presence of applied magnetic fields induces uniform quench distribution fur the stripes in element at $50V_{rms}$, otherwise non-uniform quenches were observed. And simultaneous quenches between elements were investigated at $150V_{rms}$. We suggest that suppressing the critical current by increased fields due to fault current effectively forced the stripes of higher $J_{c}$(0) to quench, resulting in equalizing quench times.s.s.s.

ZnO films doped with different contents of indium ($0.1{\sim}10$ at.%) were deposited on Si (111) substrate by Pulsed Laser Deposition (PLD). The structural, electrical and optical properties of the films were investigated using XRD, AFM, Hall and PL measurement. Results showed that un-doped ZnO film had (002) plane as the c-axis orientated growth, whereas indium doped ZnO films exhibited the peak of (002) and the weak (101) plane. In addition, in the indium doped ZnO films, the electron concentration is ten times higher than that of un-doped ZnO film, while the resistivity is ten times lower than that of un-doped ZnO film. The indium doped ZnO films have UV emission about 380 nm and show a red shift with increasing contents of indium. The I-V curve of the fabricated diode show the typical diode characteristics and have the turn on voltage of about 2 V.

When anodizing the Al in the acid electrolyte, it is well known that the parallel pores grow continuously perpendicular to the surface. This fact can be used for the manufacturing of the porous membrane, if thc pores pass through the anodized foil. Anodizing both surfaces of the Al-foil spontaneously in 20$^{\circ}C$, 2% oxalic acid under tile potentiostatic condition, it is found that the harrier layer remaining in the midst of the foil finally disappears and thc pores pass through the foil. And examined the porous structure change when the voltage is changed during the anodizing treatment. From the result, it is revealed that the new pores and cell grow, adjusting themselves to the final voltage. The characteristic of the porous membrane is greatly dependent upon the diameter of the pore and the cell. So studied the relationship between the voltage and the diameter of the pore and the cell quantitatively with the aid of field-assisted dissolution concept. And derived the following two equation, Pi = 8.32Vi, Ci = 26.80Vi. These equations are in good accord with the experimental data above 30V, but do not accord nuder 30V.

This paper presents the accelerometer which is a key component of TPMS(Tire Pressure Monitoring System). Generally a piezoresistive accelerometer has characteristics of lower cost, better linearity and better immunity about the environmnet noise than a capacitive one. Three types of piezoresistive accelerometers are degined and simulated using ANSYS program. The best one is a piezoresistive sensor which is supported by four beams located at the center of the edge of the mass after comparing the characteristics of resonant frequency of the three types. Considering the sensor size and a simulated maximum stress and maximum displacement, the length of beams is set as $200{\mu}m$. The size of a piezoresistive accelerometer is $3.0mm{\times}3.0mm{\times}0.4mm$. The sensor output is characterized by measuring the output characteristic depending on angle. As a result the offset voltage of the accelerometer is 43.2 mV and its sensitivity is $42.5{\mu}V/V/g$. The temperature bias drift is measured. The shock durability of the sensor is 1500g and the measuring range is 0 ~ 60 g.

Purpose: The goal of this study is to determine whether the magnitude of overlap between planning target volume (PTV) and rectum ($Rectum_{overlap}$) or PTV and bladder ($Bladder_{overlap}$) in prostate cancer volumetric-modulated arc therapy (VMAT) is predictive of the dose-volume relationships achieved after optimization, and to identify predictive equations and cutoff values using these overlap volumes beyond which the Quantitative Analyses of Normal Tissue Effects in the Clinic (QUANTEC) dose-volume constraints are unlikely to be met. Materials and Methods: Fifty-seven patients with prostate cancer underwent VMAT planning using identical optimization conditions and normalization. The PTV (for the 50.4 Gy primary plan and 30.6 Gy boost plan) included 5 to 10 mm margins around the prostate and seminal vesicles. Pearson correlations, linear regression analyses, and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were used to correlate the percentage overlap with dose-volume parameters. Results: The percentage $Rectum_{overlap}$ and $Bladder_{overlap}$ correlated with sparing of that organ but minimally impacted other dose-volume parameters, predicted the primary plan rectum $V_{45}$ and bladder $V_{50}$ with $R^2$ = 0.78 and $R^2$ = 0.83, respectively, and predicted the boost plan rectum $V_{30}$ and bladder $V_{30}$ with $R^2$ = 0.53 and $R^2$ = 0.81, respectively. The optimal cutoff value of boost $Rectum_{overlap}$ to predict rectum $V_{75}$ >15% was 3.5% (sensitivity 100%, specificity 94%, p < 0.01), and the optimal cutoff value of boost $Bladder_{overlap}$ to predict bladder $V_{80}$ >10% was 5.0% (sensitivity 83%, specificity 100%, p < 0.01). Conclusion: The degree of overlap between PTV and bladder or rectum can be used to accurately guide physicians on the use of interventions to limit the extent of the overlap region prior to optimization.
It is observed the characteristic of the microwave air plasma in the wide range of the operating pressure, 1 mTorr ~ 760 Torr. The microwave air plasma was generated by an AC-type microwave source manufactured with a magnetron taken from a commertial microwave oven and the input power was fixed at 370 W. Characteristics of the plasmas were observed by an injection Langmuir probe and an OES(Optical Emission Spectroscopy). The breakdown electric field is drastically changed at 500 mTorr. For < 500 mTorr, the ratio of the breakdown electric field and the pressure decreased inversely to the pressure, $5.7\times10^4$V/m-Torr.However, the ratio increased linearly as 43 V/m-Torr for the operating pressure, > 500 mTorr. The minimum breakdown electric field was observed about 12. kV/m at 500 mTorr. It corresponds that the input frequency equals to the collision frequency. The effective collision cross section of the air at this pressure was calculated as $9.23\times10^{-l6}\textrm{cm}^2$.The results of the OES measurement revealed that the main ions were composed of the oxygen, argon, and nitrogen for > 500 mTorr. In contrast, only oxygen and argon ions were dominated for < 500 mTorr. ion temperature of oxygen (O(II)) in the air was decreased from about 1.2 eV to 0.5 eV as the pressure increased. Langmuir probe data shows that the plasma density for < 500 mTorr was higher that for > 500 mTorr.
Power plant boiler is one of the most important utilities providing steam to turbine in thermal power plant. It is composed of thousands of boiler tubes for high efficient heat transfer. Boiler tube material is used in such high temperature and pressure as $540^{\circ}C$, $170kg/mm^2$. The boiler tube material is needed to resist corrosion damage, creep damage and fatigue damage. 2.25%Cr-1Mo steel is used for conventional boiler tubes. In these days steam temperature and pressure of the power plant became higher for high plant efficiency. So, the material property of boiler tube must be upgraded to meet the plant property. Several boiler tube material was developed to meet such condition. X20CrMoV12.1 steel is also developed in early 1980's and used for superheater and reheater tubes in supercritical boilers. The material has martensitic structure, which is difficult to evaluate the material degradation. Boiler tube material at severe condition was tested to evaluate long term and short term degradation and creep. Through long term and high temperature degradation test, lath structure was decreased and recrystallization has been proceeded by sub-crystal. And in this research the effect of temperature and stress on boiler tube characteristic, for example, deformation by creep was changed rapidly at relatively high temperature and stress because creep was affected easily by temperature and stress.
