This paper studies the effects of intake port configuration on the swirl that is key parameter in the flow field of direct injection diesel engines. In-cylinder flow characteristics is known to have significant effects on fuel air mixing, combustion and emissions. To investigate the swirl flow generated by various intake ports, steady state flow tests were conducted to evaluate the swirl. Helical port geometry, SCV shape and bypass were selected as the design parameters to increase the swirl flow and parametric study was performed to choose the optimal port shape that would generate a high swirl ratio efficiently. The results revealed that a key factor in generating a high swirl ratio was to suitably control the direction of the intake air flow passing through the valve seat. For these purposes, we changed the distance of helical and tangential port as well as installed bypass near the valve seat and the effects of intake port geometry on in-cylinder flow field were visualized by a laser sheet visualization method. From the experimental results, we found that the swirl ratio and mass flow rate had a trade off relation. In addition, the result indicates that the bypass is a effective method to increase the swirl ratio without sacrificing mass flow rate.
The aim of this study is to investigate the parametric characteristics on regenerative system with oxy-fuel combustion by experiment. Regenerative system with a pair of oxygen burners and regenerators is used for evaluating regenerator characteristics according to design parameters such as ball (regenerator medium) size, regenerator weight, and bypass of exhaust gas. The temperature profiles with time are varied by ball size and regenerator weight. The bypass of exhaust gas shows that the heat recovery ratio increases while the regenerating temperature efficiency slightly decreases.
The adequacy of anticoagulation with heparin during cardiopulmonary bypass, and precise neutralization with protamine at the conclusion of cardiopulmonary bypass, were important. In sixty children undergoing cardiopulmonary bypass, ACT and heparin dose-response curve were studied. Total dose of heparin before bypass were 2.80$\pm$0.74 mg/kg and the amount of protamine administered after bypass were 3.0$\pm$1.23 mg/kg. So protamine: heparin ratio was 1.07: l.c After administration of protamine which dose is calculated with heparin dose-response curve, ACTs were returned to normal range[mean 114.8 $\pm$13 second]. The heparin sensitivity and its half-life do not have relationship with age, weight, height, surface area and urine amount during operation. And there are too much individual variations in heparin sensitivity and its half-life. So conventional heparin protocols can overestimate or underestimate the amount of heparin and protamine. Heparin dose-response curve makes it possible to maintain anticoagulation in a safe range during bypass with adequate amount of heparin individually. At the conclusion of bypass, this curve can be used to predict the precise amount of protamine amount of protamine needed for neutralization of the heparin. But heparin dose-response curve to be used clinically, further studies will be needed about relationship between ACT and heparin level in the high range, influence of hemodilution and hypothermia to ACT and discrepancy between true adequate amount of protamine and calculated amount by heparin dose-response curve.
In our research we have offered a solid solution for aeronautical analysis. which can guarantee the asymptotic stability of coupled nonlinear facilities. According to the theoretical solutions and methods presented, the engine of this aircraft is a small high-bypass turbofan engine. using the non-linear aero-motor control approach and this paper focuses on the power management function of the aero-motor control system. These include static controls and transient controls. A mathematical model of the high-bypass-ratio two-spool unmixed-flow aeroengine was developed through a set of nonlinear dynamic equations verified by experimental data. A single actuator using the displacement method is designed to maintain a certain level of thrust under steady-state conditions. and maintains repeatable performance during transient operation from the requested thrust phase to the next. A single controller can compensate for the effects of noise and harmonic noise at many performance points. And the dynamic performance of a single controller is satisfactory during the transient. for fairness Numerical and computer experiments are described in the perfection of the methods we offer in research.

This study carried out a numerical analysis on a heat pump assisted dryer using HFC134a. Under the constant degree of superheat and that of subcooling, we analyzed the performance of heat pump assisted dryer with varying an air mass velocity, bypass air ratio, compressor speed and an inlet bulb temperature of dryer. Simulation results were compared with experimental results, so they were maximally agreed in the range of 10%. There was the proper bypass air ratio with varying an air mass velocity. As for the effect of SMER having the inlet temperature $35^{\circ}C$ and compressor speed 1360rpm, bypass air ratio was 30% at the front velocity 0.5kg/s, 40% at the front velocity 0.7kg/s and 50% at the front velocity 0.9kg/s and 1.1kg/s. As the compressor speed was increased, SMER decreased and COP increased. As the inlet bulb temperature was increased, SMER and COP decreased.
Bypass air conditioning systems are divided into three types; outdoor air bypass, mixed air bypass and return air bypass system. Among bypass air conditioning systems, a return air bypass system is more effective than other two systems because it doesn't induce unconditioned outdoor air into conditioned room. The numerical study on the bypass air conditioning system shows this system can maintain indoor RH(Relative Humidity) less than a conventional CAV (Constant Air Volume) air conditioning system by adjusting face and bypass dampers at part load. A simulator was built to compare results of a numerical experiment and those of a simulator experiment. The results of the simulator experiment was nearly same as those of the numerical experiment; when a design sensible load (the ratio of sensible load to total sensible load) was 70 percent (at this time, RSHF=0.7), indoor relative humidity (in case of both numerical experiments and simulator experiments) was maintained below 60% specified by ASHRAE STANDARD 62-1999. The bypass air conditioning system is expected to be applied to many buildings where the Percentage of latent loads or air change tate is high.
Extra-anatomic bypass is indicated for the limb salvage of patients with threatened limb loss especially those who have high risk of infection and death after general anesthesia. We did extra-anatomic bypass procedure nineteen times over a seven year, two month period on sixteen patients. Their mean follow up period was 41.3 months. Male to female ratio was 7:1. Major complaints were resting pain[36.8%], claudication[31.6%], cyanosis[15.8%] and ulcerative change[15.8%]. Associated diseases were hypertension, tuberculosis, chronic renal failure, atrial fibrillation, complete heart block and laryngeal cancer. Postoperative patency rates were 76.9% at 1 year, 72.7% at 2 years and 70% at 3 years. Limb salvage rate was 78.9%. Postoperative mortality rate was 10.5%.

Background: Off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (OPCABG) procedures can avoid the complications of an on-pump bypass. However, some cases unexpectedly require conversion to cardiopulmonary bypass during OPCABG. The risk factors associated with a sudden need for cardiopulmonary bypass were analyzed. Methods: This retrospective study included 283 subjects scheduled for OPCABG from 2001 to 2010. These were divided into an OPCABG group and an on-pump conversion group. Preoperative, operative, and postoperative variables were compared between the 2 groups. Results: Of the 283 patients scheduled for OPCABG, 47 (16%) were switched to on-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). The mortality of the both the OPCABG and on-pump conversion groups was not significantly different. The major risk factors for conversion to on-pump CABG were congestive heart failure (CHF) (odds ratio [OR], 3.5; p=0.029), ejection fraction (EF) <35% (OR, 4.4; p=0.012), and preoperative beta-blocker (BB) administration (OR, 0.3; p=0.007). The use of intraoperative (p=0.007) and postoperative (p=0.021) inotropics was significantly higher in the conversion group. The amount of postoperative drainage (p<0.001) and transfusion (p<0.001) also was significantly higher in the conversion group. There were no significant differences in stroke or cardiovascular complications between the groups over the course of short-term and long-term follow-up. Conclusion: Patients who undergo OPCABG and have CHF or a lower EF (<35%) are more likely to undergo on-pump conversion, while preoperative BB administration could help prevent conversions from OPCABG to on-pump CABG.

In this paper, an I-V characteristics of bypass diode has been studied by counting the shading effect in photovoltaic module. The shadow induces hot spot phenomenon in PV module due to the increase of resistance in the current path. Two different types of PV module with and without bypass diode were fabricated to expect maximum output power with an increasing shading rate of 5 % on the solar cell. Temperature distribution is also detected by shading the whole solar cell for the outdoor test. From the result, the bypass diode works properly over 60 % of shading per cell with constant output power. Maximum power generation in case of solar cell being totally shaded with bypass diode decreases 41.3 % compared with the one under STC(Standard Test Condition). On the other hand, the maximum output power of the module without bypass diode gradually decreases by showing hot spot phenomenon with the increase of shading ratio on the cell and finally indicates 95.5 % of power loss compared with the output under STC. Finally the module temperature measured increases around $10^{\circ}C$ higher than that under STC due to hot-spots which come from the condition without bypass diode. It has been therefore one of the main reasons for degrading the PV module and shortening the durability of the PV system.

During the last few decades, fluid viscous dampers have been significantly improved in terms of performance and reliability. Viscous dampers dissipate the input energy into heat and the increased temperature may damage internal seals of the damper. As a result, thermal compensation is crucial for almost all fluid viscous dampers. In this study, while referring to the main working principles of the recently developed bypass viscous damper in Iran, a comprehensive case study is conducted on a RC building having diagonal braces equipped with such viscous dampers. Experimental results of a small-scale bypass viscous damper is presented and it is shown that the currently available simplified Maxwell models can simulate behavior of the bypass viscous damper with good accuracy. Using a case study, contribution of bypass viscous dampers to seismic behavior of structural and non-structural elements are investigated. A designed procedure is adopted to increase damping ratio of the building from 3% to 15%. In this way, reductions of 25% and 13% in the required concrete and steel rebar materials have been achieved. From nonlinear time history analyses, it is observed that bypass viscous dampers can greatly improve seismic behavior of structural elements and non-structural elements.
