  • This paper proposes a method for damping force modeling of magnetorheological (MR) damper featuring bypass hole. After describing configuration and of the MR damper, a damping force modeling of the MR damper is derived based on Bingham model of MR fluid. MR damper consists of piston, accumulator, gap, bypass hole and coil. Damping force is consists of spring force induced by accumulator, viscous force induced at gap and bypass hole, and controllable force induced at gap.

저압 분사시 캐비테이션에 의한 단공 노즐의 미립화 향상 (The Enhacned Atomization of Single Hole Nozzle by Cavitation at The Low Pressure Injection)

  • The objectives of this investigation were to obtain an excellent spray by cavitation under the low injection pressure. When cavitation occurs in the nozzle hole, the atomization of the liquid jet enhanced considerably. In this experiments, a acrylic nozzle made the gap and installed the bypass in the nozzle hole was used to enhance the atomization of the liquid jet at the low injection pressure. The liquid flow in the nozzle hole was photographed by a transmitted light using a micro flash. The spray angle was measured macroscope images of PMAS and the Sauter mean diameter was measured PDA system. To measure the pressure of the nozzle hole, pressure transducer was used. The results of this study indicated that enhanced atomization of the liquid jet at the low injection pressure was obtained by making the gap and installing the bypass at the single hole nozzle.

  • This work presents a comparative work on the ride comfort of a quarter car suspension system between two different magneto-rheological (MR) dampers; one is conventional type without bypass hole and the other is featured by several bypass holes in the piston. As a first step, two different MR dampers are designed on the basis of the governing equation and manufactured with same geometric dimensions except the bypass holes. After investigating the field-dependent damping properties, two dampers are installed to the quarter car suspension system. The suspension model is then derived and a sky-hook controller is implemented to identify vibration control performance under random road. It is shown that the suspension system with MR damper featured by the bypass holes can provide much better ride quality than the case without the bypass holes. This is validated via experimental implementation.

Experimental Study on Characteristics of Two-Phase Flow through a Bypass Orifice Expansion Device

  • To establish optimum cycle of the inverter-driven heat pump with a variation of frequency, the bypass orifice, which was a short tube haying a bypass hole in the middle, was designed and tested. Flow characteristics of the bypass orifice were measured as a function of orifice geometry and operating conditions. Flow trends with respect to frequency were compared with those of short tube orifices and capillary tubes. Generally, the bypass orifice showed the best flow trends among them. and it would enhance the seasonal energy efficiency ratio of an inverter heat pump system, Based on experimental data, a semi-empirical flow model was developed to predict mass flow rate through bypass orifices. The maximum difference between measured data and model`s prediction was within $\pm$5%.

Hole Modeling and Detour Scheme for Geographic Routing in Wireless Sensor Networks

  • Geographic routing has been considered as an attractive approach in wireless sensor networks, since it routes data packets by using location information rather than global topology information. In geographic routing schemes, packets are usually sent along the boundary of a hole by face routing to detour the hole. As result, all data flows which need to detour the hole are concentrated on the boundary of the hole. This hole detour scheme results in much more energy consumption for nodes at the hole boundary, and the energy exhaustion of hole boundary nodes enlarges the holes. This is referred to as a hole diffusion problem. The perimeter mode may also lead to data collisions on the hole boundary nodes if multiple data flows need to bypass a hole simultaneously. In this paper, we propose a hole modeling and detour scheme for geographic routing in wire-less sensor networks. Our hole modeling and detour scheme can efficiently prevent hole diffusion, avoid the local minimum problem faced by geographic routing protocols, and reduce data collisions on the hole boundary nodes. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme is superior to the other protocols in terms of control overhead, average delivery delay and energy consumption.

  • 다양한 환경에 배치된 센서 노드(Sensor Node)로부터 획득한 정보들을 무선으로 수집하여 감시 및 제어 등의 용도로 활용되고 있는 무선 센서 네트워크에서 에너지 효율적인 라우팅 프로토콜은 중요한 과제이다. 이에 대한 다양한 라우팅 기법이 연구가 되었으나, 특정 상황과 조건이 있는 WSN 환경에 대한 고려 또한 필요하다. 특히, 지형적 특성이나 특정 장애물로 인해 센서 노드가 배치되어 있지 않은 장소(Hole)는 대다수의 WSN 환경에서 존재할 수 있고 이는 비효율적인 라우팅 또는 라우팅 실패가 있을 수 있다. 이 경우 GPS 기능을 활용한 지리적 라우팅 기반의 홀 우회 라우팅 방식이 가장 효율적인 경로를 형성하겠지만 GPS 기능을 가지고 있는 센서는 비용이 많이 들고 에너지 소모가 크다는 단점이 있다. 따라서 최소한의 센서 기능을 통해 홀이 있는 WSN 환경에서 홀의 경계 노드를 찾아 경계선 형성을 통한 홀 우회 라우팅을 제안하고자 한다.

  • 위치정보기반 라우팅을 이용하는 무선 센서망은 자연환경 혹은 센서 노드들의 불균형적인 에너지 소비로 인한 라우팅 홀(hole)로 인해 높은 통신 장애 가능성이 존재한다. 이에 대해 연구된 대부분의 기법들은 그런 라우팅 홀을 우회하는 방법으로 접근하는 경향을 보인다. 그러나 홀 우회를 위한 라우팅은 홀 주변 센서노드들의 불균형적인 에너지 소비를 유도하기 때문에, 그들의 통신장애 및 네트워크 수명에 장애를 발생시킬 수 있다. 우리는 이미 홀 우회를 위한 라우팅 방안을 제안하였지만, 그 또한 갖는 문제점 때문에 가우시안 함수를 활용하여 그 연구에 대한 확장 방안을 새롭게 제안한다.

  • 무선센서네트워크에서 예기치 못한 지형과 자연현상 또는 노드 파손, 불균형적인 에너지 손실로 홀(hole)이 발생하는 것은 필수불가결하다. 이런 문제를 다루는 대부분의 현존 방식은 홀을 피하기 위해 정적인 우회 경로를 구성한다. 정적인 우회 경로는 홀 주변부에 있는 노드들의 과도한 에너지 손실을 유발한다. 그래서 데이터 패킷이 홀 주변 노드에 몰리고 노드들의 에너지는 급속하게 고갈되며 홀의 영역이 확대되는 효과가 나타난다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 가상 그리드 상에서 위치기반 라우팅 방식과 동적인 그리드 앵커포인터 설정을 통한 효율적인 홀 우회 방식을 제안한다. 제안된 홀 우회 방식은 홀이 있는 불규칙한 무선센서네트워크에서도 에너지 효율적이며 데이터 신뢰성을 제공하는 홀 우회 전송방식이다. 시뮬레이션 결과는 이러한 주장의 타당성을 제공한다.
