Analysis on Performance of Axial Flow Fan for Outdoor Unit of Air-conditioner: Noise Characteristics (에어컨 실외기용 축류홴의 성능에 관한 연구: 소음 특성)

  • In this paper, aerodynamic noise of axial flow fans for outdoor unit of air-conditioner was analyzed by both experiment and numerical simulation. The three-dimensional incompressible turbulent flow was predicted by the commercial computational fluid dynamics code SC/Tetra, while the aeroacoustic noise of an axial flow fan was predicted by FlowNoise. Computations and experiments were performed with two types of axial flow fans, in which very different noise source distributions were presented. The results obtained from this study are expected to show the way to reduce the noise of axial flow fans in industrial applications.

An analysis of Noise Conditions in Elementary Schools Located near Airport and Roads (항공 및 도로 교통 소음권내 초등학교의 소음실태분석)

  • This study is a preliminary investigation into improving the environmental quality of schools. The purpose was to clarify the present conditions and reasons of noise in elementary schools located near airports and roads by noise level measurements and questionnaire surveys of subjective responses. fold measurements on equivalent and instantaneous noise levels, indoor and outdoor, were carried out in 3 schools during the periods 11th~ 13th of February and 2nd~ 7th of July,2003. The respondents were 94 teachers working in the 3 schools. The results were as follows. 1) Indoor noise levels of the 3 schools were 36.g~73 dB(A) in winter, and 46.9~ 91 dB(A) in summer. These values were higher than the indoor noise standard of 50 dB(A), except for the average of equivalent noise levels in winter.2) Outdoor noise levels of the schools were 41.1 ~ 101 dB(A) in winter, and 52.4~ 102 dB(A) in summer. These values were generally inappropriate relative to the standard for environmental noise of 65 dB(A). 3) The respondents showed relatively non- positive responses during school hours for interruptions by environmental noise.4) The frequently checked types of environmental noise of the schools were 'airplane noise','surrounding facilities', and 'traffic noise'. The frequently checked types of damage by environmental noise were 'Interrupting school hours' and 'Interrupting business'.

  • As Waterpower Generation generates electricity using the difference of altitude of water, also let the turbine revolves through water pipe, at this time the revolving turbine causes exceedingly huge noise. Accordingly, not only those workers in the hydraulic turbine dynamo room are suffering the difficulties in mutual communication, but also those workers in the adjacent office are enduring the obstruction to the business due to the noise. Therefore, this Study has analyzed the reduction effect on the noise of hydraulic turbine dynamo room utilizing computer simulation, through the preceding research with the optimized model for architectural acoustic factor of the hydraulic turbine dynamo room. It is considered that such research result could be applied as the useful material for improvement of acoustic performance and noise-reduction effect at other similar hydraulic turbine dynamo room in the future.

The Environmental Auditory and Visual Information Effects on the Traffic Noise Perception by Using Electroencephalogram (뇌파 측정에 의한 친환경 시.청각 정보의 교통소음 인지도 영향 평가)

  • In this study, the influences of environmentally friendly visual and auditory information on traffic noise perception were surveyed by the using electroencephalogram. Green rural region image and CBD (central business district) image in urban city were used as visual informations. And traffic noise, signal and environmental music were used to detect the impact on electroencephalogram variance. It was revealed that green rural region image caused ${\alpha}-wave$ ratio increase about 10% and environmental music increased ${\alpha}-wave$ ratio approximately $40{\sim}50%$. The results of this study improved that environmentally friendly visual and auditory information had an effect on decreasing traffic noise loudness to some extents.

  • Semiconductors performing digital clocking are a main source of radiated emission noise. Therefore, the most secure method of reducing emission noise is to reduce emission radiated from semiconductors; an application of an absorber to the surface of semiconductors is one of these methods, too. However, in reality, it is difficult to achieve as much effect of noise reduction as expected by using only absorber. It is confirmed by experiment in this paper that a loop area within chip has no correlation with radiated emission noise and it is clarified why the existing absorber fails to achieve a satisfactory effect of emission noise reduction. Besides, a new type of chip coating absorber has been developed which can cover up to semiconductor out lead by using ferrite coating material of ferrite/epoxy acrylate substance using only permeability loss out of electromagnetic wave reduction characteristics of materials. As a result of evaluating radiated emission noise by applying this coating absorber to semiconductor device, it could be confirmed that emission noise decreased from about 3 ㏈ up to 20㏈ depending on frequency.

Estimated Exposure Population to Hazardous Workplace Noise among Korean Workers (델파이 조사를 통한 직업적 소음 노출 규모의 추정)

  • Objective: The objective of this study was to estimate the numbers of employees occupationally exposed to noise according to their industry and size. Methods: A Delphi panel consisting of 15 occupational health experts estimated the exposure prevalence of noise in workplace. Data on Industrial Accident Compensation Insurance provided from Occupational Safety and Health Research Institute were combined to produce the exposure population. Results: In Korea, 16.0% of employees, 2,539,890 out of 15,838,926, was estimated to exposed to noise occupationally. The rate was 32.7% and 10.3% in manufacturing sector and non-manufacturing sector, respectively. The highest rate, 52.5%, was found in manufacturing industries of wood and of products of wood and cork(except furniture) and of other transport equipment. Sorted by their size of business, the rate was higher as the number of employee was larger in manufacturing sector. Conclusions: Compared to the same rate estimated in the US, 17.2%, the result of this study seems to be in a resonable range.

Affecting Factors on the Living Satisfaction Degree in University Dormitory's Service: Focusing on the Foreign Students of "G" University (대학교 기숙사 생활 만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인: G대학 외국인 학생을 중심으로)

  • Government and many universities have been trying to get the more international students. Foreign students in university are increasing remarkably in Korea. So these authorities have to consider their service competency for new foreign student's living satisfaction. In this paper, we described about the living satisfaction degree on the university dormitory's service in Korea. After reviewing and summarizing the related literatures, our hypotheses are established which the satisfaction be affected by some service factors such as facility, foods, and noise factors in university dormitory's environments. The 99 Chinese students living in G-university dormitory responded to our study. Empirical analysis was performed among a university in Sungnam city named as G-university by using questionnaires sheets. Analysis results are show that satisfaction degree on the university dormitory's service is affected significantly by facility and foods service factors respectively. However noise factor was not the significant variable.

  • Ball screw systems are largely used in industry for motion control and motor applications. But the problem of noise, which really perplexes us, is highly correlated with the quality in ball screw systems all the way. In this paper, machining process parameters were evaluated in respects of technique, business, produce and quality to verify which impact influences the noise most. In order to adjust and compare, two comparison groups were set with the present parameters bench mark. Different ball screws were produced as specimens for the noise tests. Through comparing the noise performance of different parameters in the machining process respectively, a group of optimized machining process parameters were obtained. Another noise test was proceeded to know how noise performance was improved by optimizing the machining process parameters. At last, surface roughness tests have been done to know how surface roughness improved by optimization. The improvement of surface roughness is the main factor influences the noise performances.

  • To solve the problem of poor noise suppression capability and frequent loss of edge contour and detailed information in current fusion methods, an infrared and visible light image fusion method based on variational multiscale decomposition is proposed. Firstly, the fused images are separately processed through variational multiscale decomposition to obtain texture components and structural components. The method of guided filter is used to carry out the fusion of the texture components of the fused image. In the structural component fusion, a method is proposed to measure the fused weights with phase consistency, sharpness, and brightness comprehensive information. Finally, the texture components of the two images are fused. The structure components are added to obtain the final fused image. The experimental results show that the proposed method displays very good noise robustness, and it also helps realize better fusion quality.

  • Purpose As consumer awareness grows, the importance of CSR becomes even more important for long-term growth. In response to this current trend, the purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of CSR activities on business performance for logistics companies. Research design, data, and methodology - Between CSR activities and growth, there was a generally positive(+) relationships between activities such as donation and volunteerism and the growth of the enterprise. In terms of the relationship between environmental factors and growth, negative results were expressed. In case of profitability, improved welfare for workers has had a positive impact on corporate profitability. Results - With respect to stability, a high proportion of equity capital is not considered to be more active in SCR activities. Significant negative results were given between the minimum factors for entry, transportation, and noise generation factors and the ratio of liabilities, which are representative friction factors in the community.
