In this paper, we have investigated how various companies have tackled the concept of materiality, and reviewed the effect of materiality determination on business strategy and decision making in sustainability reporting. To achieve this, we gather and utilize various guidelines and company's practice cases. Results from the analyses of four case studies provide that most companies conducted a detailed systematic materiality analysis as strategic planning process but held differing approaches. Therefore, successful methodology to determine materiality will need to address common issues and challenges, and set up a new concept in the context of sustainability reporting.

This article delves into community archives based on the archival project of Dongjak-gu Public Library on the search toward sustainability. Dongjak-gu has conducted a local archiving project that involves collecting local records, focusing on the role of local public institutions as representative districts in the local region after the library was established in September 2013. Thus far, we are managing the project and records that are piled at the public library, and as the placement for archiving local records conducted in a local public library does not match its role, the national/city/province system for archiving local records faces a challenge for long-term sustainability. Therefore, we would like to present an idea for sustainability by discussing our concerns and experiences in this paper.
The study is aimed to investigate the current status of ESD(Education for Sustainable Development) programs in private sector(businesses) carried out in Korea since UN DESD was launched in 2005, For this purpose we conducted a questionnaire survey and case studies on those companies who have supposedly pursued sustainability management Results of questionnaire surveys showed that those in charge of writing sustainability reports in companies had an extremely high understanding of SO, but were not well aware of ESD. These businesses started to pursue sustainable management due to global trends and decisions of CEOs, and most of them had divisions that took charge of or are responsible for sustainable management Sustainability issues that they mainly dealt with were corporate social responsibility, energy and climate change, but other issues were being covered, too. Internal stakeholders got involved in projects related to sustainability from the planning stage. Learning on sustainable management was primarily made through information delivery, and education programs were usually conducted for staff members and executives. Those who cooperated on their sustainable development projects were mostly local communities, universities, etc. They had few ESD programs that they directly developed and carried out, and few cases of ESD-related cooperation; and in those few cases, their partners were often elementary/middle/high schools and universities. Results of ESD case studies and questionnaire surveys showed that businesses dealt with various issues of sustainable development in addition to corporate social responsibility and diversified education programs were carried out inside these companies, Business themselves, therefore, need to be considered and researched in further detail as important targets of ESD as well as supporters or cooperation partners on ESD programme.

It is no news that Nigeria's infrastructure challenge is enormous. In the global ranking, Nigeria ranked low in quantity and quality of its infrastructural provision which has a great impact on the ease of business transaction. Low investments in transportation have brought about the current infrastructural deficit. Recently, the Nigerian government has made effort to address at least to some extent the infrastructural deficit through Public-Private Partnership, but this has not yielded the desired result. Moreover, the sustainability issues relating to railway projects such as, emissions, noise pollution, ecosystem, and other environmental issues calls for urgent attention. Hence, this necessitated consideration on sustainability appraisal for the Chinese rail project in Nigeria. This study reviews sustainability of railway projects built by the Chinese firm in Nigeria with particular emphasis on the environmental and social impact of these projects. The study further identified issues and challenges in project implementation with a particular focus on civil dialogue and community engagements. A detailed literature search was conducted on railway projects and infrastructure by systematically reviewing selected published articles. The analysis of the selected articles identified sustainability issues and potential for improvement of Chinese railway projects and how they contribute to or inhibit competitiveness in the Nigerian railway market. From the literature searched, some of the projects constructed by Chinese firm revealed that there is economic and social impact of railway projects delivered by the Chinese firm in terms of capacity development and knowledge transfer potentiality. For instance, in the just concluded Lagos-Ibadan railway projects, the study gathered that the project brought about 5000 jobs and local staff were trained by the Chinese company, this will boost man power and local content capability. Also, it will significantly improve Nigeria's infrastructure and boost its economic development. The study suggests that Nigerian government should ensure and provide an enabling environment that is conducive for investment on the continent. Peace, improved security, and decent governance are the best conditions for sustainable transportation growth.

Besides exploring the awareness and safety distances, the effectiveness of offering free use of protective equipment (mask, hand sanitizer, frequent hand washing, etc.) to the customers for visiting the business centers was also examined. Design/methodology/approach - This study collected 264 survey data in Bangladesh which is one of the most densely populated country and very vulnerable for COVID-19 due to its socio-economic condition. The multiple regression analysis is used to analyze the data. Findings - The findings of the study indicate that the awareness about the symptoms of virus exposures (cough, fever, diarrhea, and weakness) has significant affirmative effects to enhance the public movement for business purposes with the lower possibility to be affected by the virus. The study also indicates that safety distances and protective equipment can mediate the significant positive relationship between the awareness of the disease and the businesses' resilient capacity. Research implications or Originality - COVID-19, as an apprehensive health issue in the current world, has sharpened the uncertainty of the businesses. One essential technique as lockdown, has been followed by almost every country to protect the transmission of the virus even though the scholars criticized it due to the substantial adverse effects on the country's economy. Purpose: The Korean franchise market has undergone drastic growth in recent years. Followed by expansion of franchise business types, relevant legal matters have diversified. Compared to conventional economic laws that focused on resolving problems related to unfair transactions between franchisors and franchisees, more diverse labor laws have emerged recently due to governance and economic dependencies of franchise structure. However, it was found that the business environment of franchisees and working conditions of franchisee employees have not changed accordingly due to the unique structure of franchise business. Though franchisees are entrepreneurs independent from franchisors, they are still under franchising contract with the franchisors. For instance, employees of franchisees have been exposed to malpractices in regard to pay, time, and other working conditions. These malpractices may show the ineffectiveness of current labor laws. Labor management is an important issue for sustainability of franchise businesses. Negative publicity of franchises generated from violating relevant labor laws may have significant negative impact on overall image of franchised brands. However, franchisors should not hold franchisees fully responsible for legal violations in terms of labor management but strive to prevent relevant risks. Thus, the recent amendment in labor law related to increased minimum wage and reduced worktime have called for more attention to effectively implementing the law. Research design, data, and methodology: This study was conducted through a review of franchise-related laws and various institutions and policies. Results: It is further needed for all parties, including franchisors, franchisees, and franchisee employees, to take collaborative actions to improve working conditions of franchisees. Therefore, this study aims to propose appropriate and effective response plans toward recent changes in the Minimum Wage Act, while strengthening sustainability of franchisors, franchisees, and their employees. Conclusions: The proposal mainly contains plans regarding profit-related aids and profit sharing/cost reduction strategies for franchisees, as well as collective bargaining in the franchisor-franchisee relation. More detailed suggestions are included. Conclusions: This proposal may help franchisors and policymakers develop business plans and policies in improving business conditions of franchisees and working conditions of franchisee employees.

This paper studies the factors that increase the sustainability of Industry-University cooperation in the current structure of domestic I-U cooperation, which is highly dependent on government support. First, we examine the extent to which the 'I-U Relationship Strength' can be explained by the cumulative 'Experiences of I-U cooperation' and 'Width of various I-U cooperation channels', and the 'I-U cooperation barrier' can be explained by the 'Difference in mutual recognition' and 'Institutional barriers' on sustainability. In addition, the factors that can lower the 'I-U cooperation barrier', such as the 'University administration's efforts' and 'Trust between I-U', are examined. The researchers examined the factors affecting the sustainability of I-U cooperation and the factors affecting 'I-U cooperation barriers' in the 'I-U cooperation technology development projects' of the Ministry of Small & Medium Venture Business and Startups with its long history of domestic I-U cooperation programs. In order to clarify the data of the research sample, a questionnaire survey of organizational units was conducted for all companies participating in the 'I-U cooperation technology development projects' of the Ministry of SMVB and Startups between 2011 and 2015, and the responses of 356 organizations were used. It was found that the greater the 'Width of the I-U cooperation channels', the higher the sustainability and that the greater the 'Institutional barriers', the lower the sustainability. However, through the 'University administration's efforts' and 'Trust between I-U', it is possible to overcome the 'I-U cooperation barrier'. Ultimately, the systematization of Industry-University-Research institute subjects is needed to realize sustainability. In other words, it is necessary to have a linkage program that can broaden the link between industry and universities, that is to broaden the scope of I-U cooperation. Moreover, it is necessary for the government to provide institutional support to promote desirable I-U cooperation policies. Finally, it is essential to change the universities' core organizations in order to improve the level of university administration services.

This study was carried out to contribute to the self-help and sustainability of grassroots business in Gangwon-do. To achieve this, after setting up the concept of community business, understanding the current designating status of community business and analyzing the business content and the business promotion system, I tried to analyze the continuing factors of businesses and shops, which are more than hundred years old, in Japan and seek a solution to the sustainability of community business in the province. The community business in the province, which is designated and operated, is like this; 86 preliminary social businesses, 62 town businesses, 38 social businesses. The total comes to 186. The preliminary social businesses and the social businesses are assigned more in urban area and the manufacturing sector and educational field have a lot of business contents. When it comes to the business promotion system, there are many incorporated companies and limited companies. While the town businesses are assigned more in county area, the agricultural food field and cultural world have a lot of business contents. When it comes to the main participant of business, the agricultural corporations took the first place overwhelmingly. Especially, I found out that the main participants of community business consist of 38 voluntary associations, which is 20.4 %, and we need to make up for the specialty deficiency in business management. In order to keep the continuity of community business in the province, we could achieve the results of manpower development through the case analysis research, securing good materials which can give the consumers confidence, increasing the quality of the products, maintaining high technical skills, keeping up the tradition of business and demanding forecasting. I think a successive research efforts will be required for securing good materials and increasing the quality of the products in tandem with the local community. And also we need to establish a supporting & operating system through the liaison between the business & academic world, business & administration, and business & business for securing a management specialty as an industrialist.
Most of the studies based on the outcome of business ethics were mainly focused on financial and non-financial results, CEO's business ethics and practical willingness as a preceding variable for business ethics and its success. This study regards business innovation on corporate sustainability and social responsibilities. There fore, this study will prove the result of activities based on business innovation and its activities, for participation of members is of importance. Therefore, this study proved the hypothesis that a worker's ethical conciousness is important in the result of business ethics, and that it also effects the result of business ethics for practice and innovative intentions for a moderating effect. This study emphasizes on ethical consciousness related to business ethics and consensus related to business ethics due to members' ethical consciousness influenced by organization's business ethics and perception. There ought to be an implication for this study. Also, as a result variable, the job satisfaction of coworkers is affected by conscious business ethics, but not affected in the innovative intentions. In addition, it is shown that the consciousness of business ethics is a controllable variable, for it affects job satisfaction concerning coworkers, but does not affect general job satisfactions.
