The Short-Term Fear Effects for Taiwan's Equity Market from Bad News Concerning Sino-U.S. Trade Friction

  • Mainland China area has been a long-term, major trade rival and partner of Taiwan, accounting for more than 40% of Taiwan's total annual trade exports, and so Sino-US trade friction is expected to have a significant impact on Taiwan's economy in the future. This study focuses on major bad news of Sino-US trade frictions and how it generates short-term shocks for Taiwan's equity market and fear sentiment. It further explores the mutual interpretation relationship between price changes such as VIX, Taiwan's stock market index, and the VIX ETF to identify which factors have information leadership as leading indicators. The study period covers 750 trading days from 2017/1/3 to 2020/1/31. This study finds that, when a policy news is announced, the stock market index falls significantly, the change in the trading price (net value) of the VIX ETF rises significantly, and the overprice rate significantly drops, but VIX does not, showing that fear sentiment exists in the Taiwan's market. The net value of the VIX ETF shows an information advantage as a leading indicator. This study suggests that, when the world's two largest economies clash over trade, the impact on Taiwan's equity market is inevitable, and that short-term fear effects will arise.

Analysis of the Research Trends on Business Archives: Focusing on the Topic Modeling Analysis (기업 아카이브에 관한 연구 동향 분석: 토픽모델링 분석을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze research trends on overseas business archives, compare them with domestic and related prior studies, and present the direction of the development of domestic business archives research. For the research analysis, bibliography from 493 papers was collected using four academic databases: Web of Science, Scopus, LISA (ProQuest), LISS (EBSCOhost). Following data collection, data analysis was conducted and focused on the publication status of related papers, major journals, research forms, and researcher information. In addition, unique words were extracted through the data processing of English abstracts, and the frequency of the key words was identified. Through topic modeling, this study extracted seven topics from the entire literature group, analyzed the publication trends of the papers corresponding to each topic, and examined the topics and representative papers of that topic. The names for these topics were assigned as "access and usability of business records'," "information/evidence value of business records," "importance and operational strategy of business archives," "record management as a business heritage," "management of business records in digital environments," "preservation and disposal of business records," and "historical value of business records." Based on the prior research and analysis results, this study proposed implications for the development and expansion of future research on the domestic business archives.

  • I Bank, which is domestic one, has implemented a performance management system based on the balanced scorecards (BSC). The purpose of this study is to understand the status and seek improvements of the performance management system of the bank. To achieve the purpose, this paper makes study about the earlier researches and does empirical study based on the questionnaire survey analysis. The Study on relationship between CSV and Investment Efficiency (CSV와 투자효율성에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, we aim to examine the impact of corporate social responsibility implementation, which is a major concern in previous research, on investment efficiency. The research method will be a qualitative study with reference to existing previous research. The three main claims to be addressed in this study will be summarized, and the research variables and research models will be described. As a result of the study, based on existing previous research, this study presented three issues to examine how a high level of corporate social responsibility performance increases investment efficiency. First, we argue that a company's high level of social responsibility will be positively related to investment efficiency. Second, it is argued that investment efficiency will be positively related to individual CSR components that represent the interests of primary stakeholders. Third, it is argued that companies with too high a CSR index and companies with a too low CSR index will have less correlation with investment efficiency. The contribution of this study will be to more accurately understand the impact of CSR on corporate investment efficiency. In the future, it is hoped that additional discoveries will be made through research that adopts the three claims presented in this study as hypotheses and empirically analyzes them. Revisiting the cause of unemployment problem in Korea's labor market: The job seeker's interests-based topic analysis (취업준비생 토픽 분석을 통한 취업난 원인의 재탐색)

  • The present study aims to explore the causes of employment difficulty on the basis of job applicant's interest from P-E (person-environment) fit perspective. Our approach relied on a textual analytic method to reveal insights from their situational interests in a job search during the change of labor market. Thus, to investigate the type of major interests and psychological responses, user-generated texts in a social community were collected for analysis between January 1, 2013 through December 31, 2015 by crawling the online-community in regard to job seeking and sharing information and opinions. The results of topic analysis indicated user's primary interests were divided into four types: perception of vocation expectation, employment pre-preparation behaviors, perception of labor market, and job-seeking stress. Specially, job applicants put mainly concerns of monetary reward and a form of employment, rather than their work values or career exploration, thus youth job applicants expressed their psychological responses using contextualized language (e.g., slang, vulgarisms) for projecting their unstable state under uncertainty in response to environmental changes. Additionally, they have perceived activities in the restricted preparation (e.g., certification, English exam) as determinant factors for success in employment and suffered form job-seeking stress. On the basis of these findings, current unemployment matters are totally attributed to the absence of pursing the value of vocation and job in individuals, organizations, and society. Concretely, job seekers are preoccupied with occupational prestige in social aspect and have undecided vocational value. On the other hand, most companies have no perception of the importance of human resources and have overlooked the needs for proper work environment development in respect of stimulating individual motivation. The attempt in this study to reinterpret the effect of environment as for classifying job applicant's interests in reference to linguistic and psychological theories not only helps conduct a more comprehensive meaning for understanding social matters, but guides new directions for future research on job applicant's psychological factors (e.g., attitudes, motivation) using topic analysis.
