Design and Implementation of Channel Server Model for Large-scale Channel Integration (대용량 채널 통합을 위한 채널 서버 모델 설계 및 구현)

  • The CRM(Customer Relationship Management) is a business strategy model which can reap higher profits and can provide a competitive edge to an enterprise in today's new business environments. Early next year (2009), the Capital Market Consolidation Act will be in effect in South Korea. This is required for a qualitative growth to provide QoS (Quality of Service) and ensure growth in finance, IT industry & service. Accordingly, the securities and insurance companies, banks and other financial institutions make efforts to improve their derivative financial product and also enhance their services. In this paper we design and implement a Channel Server model for a Scalable Service Channel Server to efficiently manage the high volumes of inbound customer interactions based on the requirements of a CRM center. The proposed Scalable Service Channel Server supports integration with other third party service and standardization of multiple inbound service channels. The proposed model can be efficiently used in an inbound CRM center of any banking, finance, securities and insurance establishments.

A Comparative Study on the International Competitiveness of Korea's Financial Service Sector using $VAIC^{TM}$ Model (부가가치지적계수($VAIC^{TM}$) 모형을 이용한 한국 금융서비스 분야의 국제경쟁력 비교 분석)

  • This study measures the efficiency of intellectual capital of Korea's banks, financial investment companies, and insurance companies using the Value Added Intellectual Coefficient (VAICTM) model, which was developed by A. Pulic and investigates into the relationship of each of VAIC's elements - efficiency of human, structural, and material capital -with business performance of the institution. we found, first, average VAIC and human capital efficiency(HCE) of Korean financial institutions during 2001 - 2012 were highest among banks, followed by insurance companies and securities firm. Secondly, in general, banks in advanced countries tend to have higher HCE and VAIC compared with the banks of developing countries. Thirdly, Korean financial institutions' HCE and VAIC are lower than those of Australia and even Taiwan and Thailand and have been on the decrease in recent years. This suggests that Korean financial institutions should enhance VAIC and HCE to build-up the international competitiveness.

The Effect of Portal Search Intensity on Stock Price Synchronicity and Risk: Evidence from Korea (한국 포털 사이트 검색강도가 주가 동조성 및 위험에 미치는 영향)

  • Recent Studies emphasize the effect of investors attention, recognition and sentiment on the trading behavior of retail investors and stock price variation. In this study, we use Naver Trend to measure investors'attention and investigate the relation between investor attention and price synchronicity, total risk and systematic risk of stocks. Using various research methodologies such as portfolio analysis, fixed effect regression and dynamic panel analysis, we find consistent results. First, stock price synchronicity is increased with lager average search volume, but with less search variability. Second, both average search volume and its variability are positively related to total risk and beta of stocks. These results can be interpreted that search volume sharply increases only when stock-related event occurs.

  • Since data mining attempts to find unknown facts or rules by dealing with also vaguely-known data sets, it always suffers from high error rate. In order to reduce the error rate, many researchers have employed multiple models in solving a problem. In this research, we present a new type of multiple models, called DyMoS, whose unique feature is that it classifies the input data and applies the different model developed appropriately for each class of data. In order to evaluate the performance of DyMoS, we applied it to a real customer churn problem of an automobile insurance company, The result shows that the DyMoS outperformed any model which employed only one data mining technique such as artificial neural network, decision tree and case-based reasoning.

Consumer protection in e-commerce: the Safety Transaction Service in Korea (전자상거래에서 소비자 보호방안에 관한 연구)

  • To accommodate the rapid growth of e-commerce transactions, non-face-to-face transactions, businesses use a wide variety of payment methods. However, many of these payment mediums are not secure as shown by increases in fraudulent transactions. In this paper, we analyze a particular e-commerce transaction medium, the Safety Transaction Service (STS). This system protects consumers through a wide variety of safeguards: safety settlement systems (escrow), consumer damage compensation insurance, payment guarantee, and secure bank settlement. In contrast to the safeguards, we identify the limitations and concerns with the STS and potential legal and political improvements. The plethora of payment methods limits the consumers ability to distinguish between the secured and unsecured transaction services. Regulation and consumer based verification of transaction services are essential to root out dangerously fraudulent systems. We propose the development of specific standards to these systems, in particular the need for consumer confirmation and clear settlement documentation. Only through the active promotion of scrutiny and improvement to STS will consumers be protected in e-commerce.

  • An effective customer classification has been essential for the successful customer relationship management. The typical customer rating is carried out by the proportionally allocating the customers into classes in terms of their life time values. However, since this method does not accurately reflect the homogeneity within a class along with the heterogeneity between classes, there would be many problems incurred due to the misclassification. This paper suggests a new method of rating customer using Holistic profit technique, and validates the new method using the customer data provided by an insurance company. Holistic profit is one of the methods used for deciding the cutoff score in screening the loan application. By rating customers using the proposed techniques, insurance companies could effectively perform customer relationship management and diverse marketing activities.

Anti-Fraud in International Supply Chain Finance: Focusing on Moneual Case

  • Purpose - This study analyzes the scope of due diligence and risks of banks and K-Sure in trade finance covered by EFF focusing on Moneual case, one of the latest and biggest trade finance fraud cases in Korea. Also, we suggest anti-fraud measures in trade finance on the part of banks and K-Sure in order to give them a desirable way of due diligence and reasonable risk management of export insurance. Design/methodology - Based on Moneual case of trade finance fraud, this study employs the methodology of an extended literature review and analysis of court decisions. Findings - Seoul High Court of Korea failed to decide whether K-Sure was wholly obliged to pay the insurance against the banks' EFF claims, but issued a compulsory mediation order, judging that both the banks and K-Sure were responsible by 50:50. The court may have judged that both the parties had lacked their due diligence in the trade finance. It is quite difficult for trade finance providers to manually investigate whether the transaction is suspected of trade finance fraud, so digitalization of trade finance which can facilitate the prevention and detection of trade fraud needs to be realized quickly. Since there has been no international rule available for open account trade finance up till now, clearly stipulated EFF terms on the exporter's genuine export obligation might have protected K-Sure from the disaster. Originality/value - This study investigates the due diligence of the banks and K-Sure in Moneual case which few researchers have considered, to the best of our knowledge. This study also suggests several practical methods (including block chain) to prevent complicating trade finance fraud amid increasing use of an open account, and further offers reasonable risk management of EFF employing international factoring rule which is also related to problematic open account trade finance.

  • This Study will focus the fact that large portion of inpatient treatment cost might incurred in nursing hospital and consider whether policy of allowing inpatient treatment is appropriate or not. Finally This study will suggest alternative way to make improvement based on cases from other countries. This study use data published by Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service. & National Health Insurance Service which is very reliable. This Study found biggest medical spending in allowance of medical care is inpatient treatment cost and large portion of inpatient treatment cost might incurred in nursing hospital. This Study found policy of allowing patient to get inpatient treatment is not clearly determinded. Therefore patient who don't actullay need medical service enter and stay in nursing hospital. Their inpatient treatment cost is paid by allowance of medical care and this cost is unnescessary medical cost. This study suggest policy of allowing patient need to be clear. Government should mandate nursing hospital to check whether patient's condition is appropriate to enter and stay in nursing hospital. This study suggest way to reduce unnecessary inpatient treatment cost incurred in nursing hospital

  • Domestic franchise industry is growing rapidly as a promising business in 21st century and also ordinary people business. Domestic franchise headquarters and franchisees have increased exponentially. However, because of tough competition in the industry, headquarters' lack o fawareness of recruiting and managing franchisees, and reckless expansion strategy for the structural problem of profit structure and lack of experts, systematic management and support system are not going well. For these reasons, the need of franchisee management system is growing up in this industry. Domestic franchise industry is focused on appearance, the volume, while absence and lowness of internal management systems are making stores shut down and conflicts proving necessity of management system. In this study, we find and study the way to compensate these problems and systematize by cooperating within surance companies to manage franchisees, and eventually to be able to set up and use new systems including franchise management system, initial services, on goin gservices, lega lservices, tax services, labor services, and financial analysis and planning services.

A Study on the Demand of the Promotion Policy for the Oil and Gas Overseas Transportation Projects by AHP (AHP 분석을 이용한 원유 및 가스 해외 수송사업 진흥 정책 연구)

  • Korea's LNG and crude oil are the most important energy and export raw materials, but 100% import resources by overseas. However, tanker shipping companies, which play the most crucial role in energy cargo security, are very small in number and size, which can be a factor in the supply chain crisis. Therefore, this paper studied the policy of expanding tanker transportation necessary for the transport of crude oil and LNG in Korea. In the existing literature, there was no policy study necessary for tanker ships, but referring only to the importance of overseas energy development and transportation, so we tried to derive various demands necessary for expanding the tanker fleet through expert interviews and AHP which was conducted on 89 related energy institutions to derive policies and their priorities. The results of the study are as follows. As for the policy, the financial support policy was the highest priority, followed by the business and the mutual cooperation policy of related agencies. Tax support (22.6%) and ship financing (19.4%) were the highest priorities, followed by the Energy Intermediate Promotion Act (11.9%), Tanker Guarantee Insurance (10.6%), Energy Budget Independence (9.3%), and Korea Trader Development (8.2%). Energy governance (6.3%), information center establishment (6.2%), and energy procurement committee (5.5%) ranked seventh, eighth, and ninth. The research results show that it is necessary to supply sufficient ships to the market through the expansion of ship finance for tankers and to follow business support policies such as guarantee insurance. In addition, it was also possible to derive that the financial resources need to be determined by law and independent budgets for consistency and continuity.
