초등학생의 부력 개념 형성과 인지 수준의 관계 (Elementary School Students형 Conceptions of Buoyance related with Cognitive Levels)

  • The unit of a buoyant force included in the 7th national science curriculum for 6th grade students. On the contrary, it seldom that students' conception about buoyant phenomena is studied, even though there has been many studies of students' conceptions of basic science contents. The purpose of this study was to survey the elementary school students' conceptions of a buoyant force, to analyze their cognitive levels, and to explore the relationships between them. Sixth grade students (total numbers is 192) were selected .from 5 .lasses in two elementary schools in a local city of Kyungsangdo. They were asked to respond two kinds of test, which are the Logical Thinking Ability (GALT) to investigate students' cognitive levels and the Buoyant Force Questionnaire (BFQ). We developed BFQ test, based on the 7th national science curriculum for 6th grade and the previous researches of a buoyant force. We, qualitatively, analysed students' frequency of responses about a buoyant force and their types of explanation, and, quantitatively, analysed the relationships between cognitive levels and conceptions of a buoyant force with SPSS/ PC 7.0 programmes. The results of cognitive level showed that half of 6th grade students were in the concrete operational stage, 43.2% in the transitional stage, 6.8% in the formal stage. However, their sub-logical thinking abilities in a combinational, conservational, controlling variables, proportional, probability and correlational logic were very fluctuated from 91% to 8%. The results that only 4.8% of elementary students had correct conceptions of a buoyant force suggest that 6th grade students had great difficulties in understanding of that concept. Their difficulties would originated from the frequent common-sense explanations of a buoyant phenomena in terms of the weight or the unique properties or the contact area of an object or with/without air. Furthermore students' explanations, frequently, changed with context of problems of a buoyant force. Scheffe test of quantitative results that elementary students in the concrete level had 50.6% of concept formation in a buoyant force, the transitional level 54.5%, and in the formal operational level 62.8% showed significant differences of conceptions of a buoyant force with cognitive levels. Therefore the concrete operational elementary students had more difficulties of understanding of a buoyant force than the transitional and formal level, which is required to higher cognitive levels. This conclusion have implications that the unit of a buoyant force have to be presented with concrete activities for majority of students who are in concrete and transitional levels.

각종 Nozzle을 통하여 저장조내로 유입되는 BUOYANT JETS의 유동해석 (Flow analysis of Buoyant Jets into Storage Tank through Variable Nozzles)

  • The Buoyant Jets were analysed experimentally changing flow rate (0.0291/s, 0.0371/s, 0.0451/s), ratio of nozzle tip area to throat area (aspect ratio ${\beta}$=0.4, 1.0, 1.9), and also the temperature difference (${\Delta}T=Ti-T{\infty}$) between the temperature of the inflow water into the storage tank ($1m{\times}1m{\times}3m$) and the mean temperature of the water in the storage tank were changed as $25^{\circ}C,\;35^{\circ}C$ and $45^{\circ}C$. The more aspect ratio decreased, the more the trajectories of Buoyant Jets center-line were decreased and not the more the trajectories of Buoyant Jets centerline were influenced by the increment of the difference of the temperature. The more aspect ratio decreased, the more the half widths and dilution ratio of Buoyant Jets were increased and not the more the half widths and dilution ratio of Buoyant Jets were influenced by the increment of the difference of the temperature. Fr number is the factor that can predict the flow pattern over the whole flow field. And yet for the consideration the near field of Buoyant Jets flow pattern is dominated by magnitude of momentum and buoyancy force.

규칙파상에서 부유체의 움직임 (Motion of Buoyant Objects on Regular Waves)

  • 부유체가 등장하는 콘텐츠에서 부유체의 길이, 너비, 무게, 속도 등의 속성과 파도의 파장과 방향 등 파도 특성의 변화를 동적으로 표현할 수 있다면 콘텐츠 개발에 도움이 될 것이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 조선해양공학에서 사용하는 부유체의 운동방정식을 이용하여 부유체의 상하운동이 부유체의 속성과 파도의 특성 변화에 따라서 어떻게 변화하는지 실험을 통하여 검증하였다. 본 논문의 연구 결과는 조선해양공학에 깊은 지식이 없더라도 콘텐츠 개발자가 부유체가 등장하는 콘텐츠를 개발하는데 도움이 될 것이다. 본 논문에서 부유체의 속도 및 파도의 파장과 방향이 동적으로 변할지 라도 실시간으로 부유체의 움직임을 계산을 할 수 있음을 보여주었다 향후에는 불규칙 파도에서 부유체가 어떻게 움직이는지 연구하고 이를 계산하는 부유체엔진을 개발하고자 한다.

부력 영향을 받는 제트 확산화염의 화염편 구조에 관한 수치계산 연구 (Numerical Investigation of the Flamelet Structure of Buoyant Jet Diffusion Flames)

  • Direct numerical simulations(DNS) were performed for the prediction of transient buoyant jet diffusion flames where the Froude numbers(Fr) are 5 and 160, respectively. The thermodynamic and transport properties were evaluated using CHEMKIN package to enhance the prediction performance of the DNS code. The simulated buoyant jet diffusion flame of Fr=5 and 160 showed the transient, dynamic motion well. It was identified that the buoyant jet flames were flickered periodically, and the simulated flickering frequency of the jet diffusion flame of Fr=5 was 12.5Hz, which was in good agreement with the experimental results. The flamelet structures of the buoyant jet diffusion flames could be well understood by comparing the scalar dissipation rates(SDR) and the heat release rates(HRR) of the flames. It was found that the SDR was strongly coupled with the HRR in the buoyant jet diffusion flames.

원형바닥젵의 유속구조 해석 (Analysis of Velocity Structure of Round Wall Jet)

  • 본 연구에서는 실험개수로에 온수방류용 방류규가 있는 방파제의 모형을 설피하여 바닥\ulcorner의 유속분포를 측정하였다. 또한 3차원의 모형인 Fluent 모형을 이용하여 방파제의 방류구로부터 배출된 바닥젵의 유속구조를 수치모의하여 실험결과와 비교.검증하였으며 흐름특성을 규명하였다. 바닥젵은 자유젵에 비하여 흐름의 확립구간이 짧았으며, 종방향거리에 대한 젵 중앙유속의 감쇠율이 자유젵보다 크게 나타나고 있음이 밝혀졌다. 단순젵과 부력젵의 젵 중앙선에서의 종방향유속을 비교한 결과, 방류구 근처에서는 부력\ulcorner의 유속이 크게 발생하나 x/lQ가 15보다 큰 구간에는 도리어 작게 된다. 종방향유속의 연직분포를 비교한 결고, 방류구로부터 멀어질수록 저층에서는 단순젵의 유속이 크게 나타나며 상충에서는 단순젵의 부의 유속이 크게 나타나고 있음이 밝혀졌다. 또한 부력젵의 경우 자유수면에서의 유속의 분리가 단순젵보다 방류구로부터 가까운 거리에서 발생한다. 부력젵의 연직방향으로의 폭은 단순젵의 폭보다 빨리 확장된다.

중량 특성이 다른 2종류 운동체의 수중거동 해석 연구 (A Study on the Analysis of Underwater Behaviors of Two Bodies Having Different Weight Characteristics)

  • 본 연구에서는 수중에서 사출되는 양성부력체와 음성부력체의 수중거동을 사출시험 및 시뮬레이션을 통하여 비교하였다. 다양한 형상을 갖는 음성부력체의 동유체력 계수는 전산유체역학(CFD: Computatioanl Fluid Dynamics) 기법을 이용하여 계산하였으며, CFD에 의해 계산될 수 없는 계수는 기본형과 같은 값을 적용하였다. 종동요각의 시험 값은 시뮬레이션 값보다 훨씬 크게 나타났는데, 이는 추종공기 효과로 추정하였으며, 이 현상을 반영하여 외력 모델링을 수정함으로써 더욱 정확한 시뮬레이션이 가능하였다. 양성부력체와 음성부력체의 수중거동은 같은 사출 조건에서 다소 차이를 보이지만, 운용의 관점에서는 별다른 문제가 없는 것으로 판단하였다.

히드록시프로필셀룰로오스와 카르보폴을 이용한 부유성 히드로겔 매트릭스의 제조 및 in Vitro 평가 (Preparation and in vitro Evaluation of a Buoyant Hydrogel Matrix with Hydroxypropylcellulose and Carbopol)

  • The study was carried out for the preparation and evaluation of a buoyant hydrogel matrix (BHM), which is buoyant in a neutral or in pH 2.0 buffer solution, by the aspects of buoyancy, swelling, and drug release. Physical mixtures of HPC and CP in various molar ratio were employed as a mucoadhesive polymer which swells and controls the rate of drug release. Anhydrous citric acid and sodium bicarbonate in the molar ratio of 1:3 were employed as effervescing agents which provide a buoyancy for the mucoadhesive polymeric matrix. The buoyancy in vitro was expressed as both floating time$(T_{fl})$ and surfing time$(T_{sf})$, which are the time required for floating from the bottom to the surface of the medium and the time to keep the floated state at the surface of medium during release studies, respectively. A close relationship was observed between the buoyancy and the amount of effervescing agent added. $T_{fl}$ of the buoyant hydrogel matrices were decreased to about 10 seconds linearly with increasing the amount of effervescing agent in the range of 5 to 15%. $T_{sf}$ of the buoyant hydrogel matrices were varied from 1 to 3 hr depending on the amount of effervescing agent. The swelling was observed by changes in diameter of the buoyant hydrogel matrices in distilled water or acidic buffer solution, resulted in dependences on pH and the amount of effervescing agents. The release of hydrochlorothiazide from the buoyant hydrogel matrices were followed by apparent zero-order kinetics, while the buoyant hydrogel matrices were floated at the surface and maintaining their swollen shapes.

This study is aimed to predict behavior of momentum-controlling buoyant jet and flame caused by hydrogen leakage from a high pressured tank. Approximate solutions were derived for the case of turbulent buoyant jet and diffusion flame in still air. In case of hydrogen jet with low Froude number (100-4000), computed jet trajectories were compared with experimental data and showed good agreement with them. Jet and flame trajectories and flame length of hydrogen are predicted and compared with the buoyant flame of propane. The results well show that buoyancy is dominant in the range of low Froude number, while initial momentum is dominant in the range of high Froude number. That effect is more distinct for hydrogen flame than the case of propane.

Experimental Investigation of Horizontal Buoyant Discharges from a Rosette-type Riser Using LIF System

  • Rosette-type diffusers with four-ports per riser are constructed in relatively shallow water in Korea. However, the trajectorial bending phenomena due to lower-pressure inside the surrounded buoyant jets on the riser was not considered in most models and was not observed without any experimental results. The buoyant jet behavior affected by the bending effect where there have been growing interests need to be verified experimentally and need to be preceded in the analysis of the characteristics of the buoyant jets oil a riser. The hydraulic model experiments have been carried out to investigate the characteristics of the behavior of horizontal buoyant jets discharged from a Rosette-type riser with four ports as well as single port over a certain range of the experimental conditions including initial momentum and initial buoyancy using LIF (Laser Induced Fluorescence) system to obtain concentration fields. The intensity of the fluorescent light in each pixel on the images obtained from LIF system with the tracer of Rhodamine H was converted to the local dye concentration with a set of calibration procedures to account for the non-uniform distribution of light intensity and the attenuation of light energy by water medium. The experimental results shows that the trajectories from Your ports tend to bend more and more to the inner side with the increase of the densimetric Froude number while the buoyant jet from a single port rises up without any bending phenomena. The previous models, VISJET and Seo et al. (2002), do not simulate the trajectories well except the region before the bending section. This study will focus on the analysis of the behavior of the buoyant jets for mainly a Rosette-type riser by conducting hydraulic model experiments using LIF system.
