Wheel형 분무건조기에 반응표면법에 의한 치즈 분말의 특성 해석 (Analysis of Powder Characteristics of Cheese by Using RSM in Spray Dryer with Rotating Wheel Atomizer)

  • Wheel형 분무건조기에서 식품첨가제로 사용되는 치즈분말의 건조공정을 반응표면법에 의하여 원료의 고형분함량, wheel 회전속도 및 출구온도를 독립변수로 하고 분말제품의 수분함량, 겉보기밀도, 분말 입자크기 및 현탁액의 점도를 종속변수로 하여 중심합성계획법에 따라 분산분석한 후 유의성과 상관관계를 검증하였다. 독립변수와 종속변수들의 상관관계를 검증한 결과 입자크기와 수분함량은 wheel의 회전속도가 커질수록 감소하였고, 겉보기밀도는 출구온도가 높아짐에 따라 감소하였다. 현탁액의 점도는 wheel의 회전속도와 고형분함량이 커짐에 따라 증가하였다. 분말제품의 종속변수들의 상관관계에서 수분함량과 겉보기밀도는 비례 관계, 입자크기는 수분함량과 겉보기밀도와 반비례의 관계를 나타내었다.

지르코니아-코디어라이트 복합재료에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Cordierite Ceramic Composite Dispersed with the Zirconia)

  • Cordierite(2MgO$.$2Al2O3$.$5SiO2) was known to display low thermal expansions over wide temperature ranges, but showed poor mechanical strength. The present studies have been concerned with the sintering of cordierite based ceramics containing pure or stabilized zirconia. The crystallographic and microstructural results were not affected by the fact whether added zirconia was stabilized or not. As the contents of zirconia were increased, M.O.R., KIC, bulk densities were increased but the thermal expansion coefficients were decreased.

  • This paper presents a study on evaluating the reliability indices considering a transmission system. Because successful operation of electric power under the deregulated electricity market depends on transmission system reliability management, quantity evaluation of transmission system reliability is very important. This paper introduces features and operation modes of the Transmission Reliability Evaluation for Large-Scale Systems(TRELSS) Version 6.0, a commercial program made in EPRI, and TranRel-I V3.2, a educational program made in GSNU(GyeongSang National University) for assessing reliability indices of composite power system. The packages access not only bulk but also bus indices for reliability evaluation of composite powers system. The practicality, effectiveness and future works of this methodology are illustrated by demonstrations of two case studies of modified IEEE 25 buses reliability test system using TRELSS and TranRel-I and a brief case study for the KEPCO size system using TranRel-II made in GSNU.

The quantity evaluation of transmission system reliability is very important under competitive electricity environment. The reason is that the successful operation of electric power under the deregulated electricity market depends on transmission system reliability management. This paper introduces features and operation modes of the Transmission Reliability Evaluation for Large-Scale Systems(TRELSS) Version 6.2, a program made in EPRI, for assessing reliability indices of composite power system. The package accesses not only bulk but also buses indices for reliability evaluation of composite powers system. The characteristics of the TRELSS program are illustrated by the case studies using the KEPCO system

Enhanced Behaviors of Ionic-Polymer Metal Composite (IPMC) Actuator Coupled with Polymeric Anion-doped Polypyrrole Thin Film

  • In order to overcome the weak actuation and relaxation problems during the deformation of IPMC actuator, polymeric anion (polystyrenesulfonate)-doped polypyrrole(Ppy(PSS)) was electrodeposited onto IPMC actuator. Electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance study showed that hydrated cations were instilled into Ppy(PSS) film and polymeric-anion dopants introduced during polymerization were not expelled. Ppy(PSS)-coated IPMC actuator formed two electrode/electrolyte interfaces, Pt/nafion and Ppy(PSS)/bulk solution, and additive volume expansion phenomena at interfaces induced the large deformation compensating the relaxation of actuation by back diffusion of water.

Preparation and Properties of Modified PHEMA Hydrogels Containing Thermo-responsive Pluronic Component

  • To modify and strengthen the properties of PHEMA hydrogel, composite hydrogels containing varying amounts of a Pluronic (PEO-PPO-PEO) component were synthesized by bulk polymerization of HEMA in the presence of Pluronic dimethacrylate under mild photo initiating conditions. The effects of the Pluronic component on gel properties were investigated by measuring the degree of swelling with its temperature responsive behavior, the mechanical properties, and the morphology of the composite hydrogels. With increased Pluronic content, the modified PHEMA hydrogels exhibited an increase in the degree of swelling, and the swelling showed an enhanced thermo-responsive behavior that was completely reversible. In addition, improved mechanical strength and the development of a microporous gel morphology were observed in hydrogels containing Pluronic.

A facile one-pot solution-phase route to synthesizing anovel composite hierarchical hollow structure: W18O49/WO2 Hollow Nanourchins

  • To date, nanostructured tungsten oxides with a variety of stoichiometries, such as WO3, WO2.9, W18O49, and WO2, have been prepared, because they are promising candidates for applications such as gas sensors, photocatalysts, electrochromic devices, and field emission devices. Among them, W18O49 and WO2 have been widely studied due to their outstanding chemical sensing, catalytic, and electron emissive properties. Here we report, for the first time, a one-pot solution-phase route to synthesizing a novel composite hierarchical hollow structure without adding catalysts, surfactants, or templates. The products, consisting of a WO2 hollow core sphere surrounded by a W18O49 nanorod shell (yielding a sea urchin-like structure), were generated as discrete structures via Ostwald ripening. To our knowledge, this type of composite hierarchical core/shell structure has not been reported previously. The morphological evolution and the detailed growth mechanism were carefully studied. We also demonstrate that the size of the hollow urchins is readily tunable by controlling the reactant concentrations.Interestingly, although bulk tungsten oxides are weakly paramagnetic or diamagnetic, the as-prepared products show unusual ferromagnetic behavior atroom temperature. The urchin structures also show a very high Brunauer-Emmet-Teller (BET) surface area, suggesting that they may potentially be applied to chemical sensor or effective catalyst technologies.

메조페이스 핏치계 탄소/탄소 복합재료의 제조 및 마찰 마모특성 (Friction-wear Characterization and Fabrication of Carbon/Carbon Composite via Mesophase Pitch)

  • This study is concerned with the production of carbon fiber reinforced carbon(C/C) with polyaromatic mesophase pitch as matrix precursor and with the investigation of friction-wear characteristics in ambient air using a constant speed type of friction tester. The main problem in using the polyaromatic mesophase as the matrix precursor is the high viscosity which may limit the complete impregnation of the fiber preform in the vacuum. To solve these problems two dimensional carbon fiber fabrics were infiltrated with meso-phase pitch in the pitch impregnator. After the impregnation and the heat treatment process. C/C com-posites were characterized by density porosity to monitor the influence of high pressure and temperature. It showed that the bulk density was increased and the apparent porosity and the density increasing rate was reduced as repeating the impregnation the carbonization and the heat treatment. The friction-wear charac-teristics of C/C composites were investigated by measuring the average friction coefficient and the specific wear rate as functions friction speed and friction pressure using a constant speed type of friction tester. C/C composite4s showed the average friction coefficient to be reduced as increasing the friction speed and the friction pressure.

피부 악성 종양 절제 후 장장근건을 포함한 복합 요골 전완 유리 피판술을 이용한 중안면부의 재건 (Reconstruction of Suborbital area using Composite Radial Forearm Free Flap with Palmaris Longus Tendon immediately after Wide Excision of Skin Cancer)

  • The reconstruction of the suborbital area followed by resection of skin cancer has been used many methods including skin graft, local flaps, free flaps, and skin expansion. The radial forearm free flap has become a workhorse flap in this area because of its lack of bulk, ease of dissection, malleability, and hairlessness. When the suborbital defect especially including full-thickness defect of lower lid was reconstructed with many free flaps, the ectropion and the deformity of medial and lateral canthal area were common problems encountered as late complication due to gravitational descent. To improve the final aesthetic result in patients with suborbital defect, the radial forearm free flap was elevated as a composite radial forearm - palmaris longus free flap, in which the vascularized palmaris longus london was included and anchored to the periorbital bone with $mitek^{(R)}$ as sling, to suspend the flap against gravity and inferior descent, and thereby creating a more natural cheek contour. Two clinical cases were presented as an example of this procedure. Postoperative results emphasize the importance of suspension sling with palmaris longus tendon using $mitek^{(R)}$ in reconstruction of the suborbital defect with radial forearm free flap.
