With the increase in the demand for sustainable and environment-friendly development all over the world, it becomes an urgent issue for Korea to reduce $CO_2$ emission. Since building industry accounts for about 40% of international energy and resource consumption and $30{\sim}40%$ of $CO_2$ emission, it is essential to prepare for energy-efficient building. This study aims to seek for improvement direction for a domestic Building Energy Efficiency Rating System through the comparison with foreign systems. Two foreign building energy rating systems which have the similar application scope with domestic one, HERS(Home Energy Rating System) and SAP(Standard Assessment Procedure)2005 were selected. As compared with foreign systems, we intended to suggest improvement direction for effective application of Building Energy Efficiency Rating System in Korea.
In order to improve the operation of energy systems, it is necessary for the urban communities to have reliable optimization routines, both computerized and manual, implemented in their organizations. However, before a production plan for the energy system units can be constructed, a prediction of the energy systems first needs to be determined. So, several methodologies have been proposed for energy demand prediction, but due to uncertainties in urban community, many of them will fail in practice. The main topic of this paper has been the development of a method for energy demand prediction at urban community. Energy demand prediction is important input parameters to plan for the energy planing. This paper presents a energy demand prediction method which estimates heat and electricity for various building categories. The method has been based on artificial neural networks(ANN). The advantage of ANN with respect to the other method is their ability of modeling a multivariable problem given by the complex relationships between the variables. Also, the ANN can extract the relationships among these variables by means of learning with training data. In this paper, the ANN have been applied in oder to correlate weather conditions, calendar data, schedules, etc. Space heating, cooling, hot water and HVAC electricity can be predicted using this method. This method can produce 10% of errors hourly load profile from individual building to urban community.
Purpose: In 2008, As the green growth policy was presented, Green Building is made any effort to propagation. In this paper, the respective technologies that are able to considerably reduce the energy demands for heating, cooling, hot-water, lighting and ventilation among the variety of technologies were selected. Method: Design factors such as (1) External insulation, (2) Triple glazing window, (3) LED lighting, (4) External venetian blind, (5) Geothermal and (6) Heat recovery ventilator were derived. In addition, energy saving effects in terms of energy demand, energy consumption and energy cost were investigated using EnergyPlus, building energy analysis tool. Result : The results were as follows. (1) It can be seen that high insulated triple glazing window, heat recovery ventilator and external insulation technology is excellent for energy demand. (2) Unlike energy demand, saving effect of energy consumption and energy cost was shown in order of Geothermal > Triple Window > Heat recovery Ventilation> Insulation> LED Lighting > EVB Blind.
Special attention is required for the design of windows due to their high thermal vulnerability. This paper examines the problems that might arise in the application of the u-value, by reflecting the changes in the u-value of the window, depending on the window-to-wall ratio obtained in an energy demand analysis. Research indicates that the u-value of a window increases with an increase in the difference between the u-values of the frames and the glass. Relative to the changes in the u-value of the windows, the energy demand varied from 1.3% to 9.3%. Windows with a g-value of 0.3 or 0.5 displayed a higher energy demand than windows with a g-value of 0.7. Therefore, when the difference between the performance of the glass and the frame is significant, especially when the g-value is small, a modified heat transmission coefficient should be applied to the window size during the evaluation of the building energy demand.
Hospitals contribute to energy consumption and have a negative environmental impact. This study aims to find how meaningful energy performance, reflecting good energy management and design, can be planned for hospital buildings, a category encompassing complex buildings with different setups and large differences between them. Energy-consumption characteristics were surveyed throughout Korea to establish statistical energy models. Findings confirm that different hospital departments have hugely different energy-demand profiles. Energy efficiency and energy-saving potentials on HVAC systems are presented. The energy performance analysis can be applied to a wide range of problems in energy-system design and planning, including simulations and optimizations of community energy systems.
The field-surveyed and measured energy consumption data is processed to develop building energy demand models for heating, hot water, cooling, and electricity. The load models are systematically organized as a database and hourly loads for a span of year (8760 hours) are generated by the program. Rased on those models a Microsoft Access application program is developed to calculate energy demands for a Community Energy System (CES) composed of 17 types of buildings. User-friendly interfaces are provided to assist non-expert end users and necessary tools to link the calculation results to subsequent coagulations such as operation simulation or economic assessment.
Increasing demand for comfortable indoor environment and air-conditioning demand is also increasing. Building energy consumption in university which is made up of many different kinds factor was researched. Central control air-conditioning systems are being replaced with individually controlled air-conditioning system. The amount of growth of electricity consumption is due to the increasing demand of EHP. Conversely, the demand for absorption chiller-heater is shrinking. Winter and in summer a lot of electricity and gas usage. On the other hand, showed less energy in spring and autumn. Increase the amount of electricity than the degree of decline in gas consumption was higher. Can be considered as transitional phenomena. Because EHP and the absorption chiller-heater are used at the same time in some of the buildings. To use energy efficiently is needed additional research about environmental impact, economic evaluation.
Recently, an international oil price shows fluctuation in 70 dollars per barrel and it is said that this trend is able to continues for much longer. Because energy consumption in buildings accounted for about 25% of the nation's total demand for energy, Energy censervation and efficiency of buildings were very important issues. Main political measures relating to building energy use and saving were 'the system of accrediting green building', 'building energy certification system', 'energy consumption efficiency rating indication system', 'building energy code', 'high efficient energy materials certification system'. This paper presents approaches to improve building energy efficiency policy.
