In this study, we analyzed consumers' choices of various broadcasting and telecommunication convergence services and time consumption for chosen services by using survey data. A multivariate probit model was used to model consumers' choices of various broadcasting and telecommunication convergence services, and an ordered probit model was used to model consumers' time consumption for chosen services. Factors affecting consumers' choices and time-consumption behavior were identified, and simulation results of market competition and substitution were obtained. Based on these results, it was found that for the time being, consumers are highly locked into existing broadcasting services and are likely to become more price-sensitive to the new broadcasting and telecommunication convergence services. Also, the ways in which individual characteristics affect choices and time consumption were found to be very diverse service by service.

In this paper, we present an interactive data broadcasting system compliant with the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) standards. The proposed system provides users not only with various data broadcasting services but also remote interactive services. For various data broadcasting services, we have adopted a synchronized data injector that calculates the transmission time of synchronized data accurately and multiplexes synchronized data with the data of an MPEG-2 audio-visual program according to the calculated transmission time. To support remote interactive services, we designed and implemented a return channel server connected on a bi-directional interaction channel. Test results show that the proposed system provides both an asynchronous and synchronized data broadcasting service and remote interactive service appropriately.

This article presents a simple and reasonable in-service, real-time, and continuous single-ended objective video quality assessment model for DTV broadcasting using a multiburst signal at the bottom of the transient effect area, similar to Vertical Interval Test Signals. The issue of in-service video-quality monitoring in DTV broadcasting is addressed, and an effective method of quality monitoring is presented. The proposed method is also implemented and tested in a range of situations using a simulated HDTV broadcasting network.

본 연구는 디지털미디어 서비스 IPTV의 VOD 시청 행태 변화에 관한 연구이다. 2013년 지상파 VOD 서비스의 홀드백이 연장된 이후 시청자의 지상파 VOD시청은 급격히 감소하였다. 연구자는 지상파의 VOD 시청 감소의 원인이 영화, 키즈 등의 대체 상품의 시청에 의해 주도되었다고 보았다. 또한 지상파 VOD 시청의 감소는 전반적인 VOD 시청 감소로 이어지고 실시간 방송의 시청률에도 영향을 준 것으로 보인다. 본 연구를 위해 연구자는 기업의 실제 5년간 데이터를 확보하여 분석에 활용하였다. 연구자는 지상파 사업자가 VOD의 시청을 만회하기 위해서는 콘텐츠품질의 내용 측면 강화와 더불어 2013년 연장했던 VOD 홀드백을 단축하여 지상파로부터 멀어진 시청자를 다시 확보하는 것이 필요하다고 보았다. 또한 연구자는 본 연구를 통해 VOD 서비스를 비롯한 새로운 미디어 서비스의 양적, 질적 성장을 도모하고 미디어 산업이 건전하게 발전할 수 있는 데 기여할 것으로 기대한다.

Odd networks were introduced in the context of graph theory. However, their potential as fault-tolerant multiprocessor networks has been shown. Broadcasting is one of the most important communication primitives used in multiprocessor networks. In this letter, we introduce efficient one-to-all broadcasting schemes of odd networks for one-port and all-port models. We show the broadcasting time of the former is 2d-2 and that of the latter is d-1. The total time steps taken by the proposed algorithms are optimal.

Secure broadcasting is requirement for payment of TV systems, government or company. Hierarchical key management for access control provides efficient key management in those environment. Also, time-bound hierarchical key management technique generates different keys in each time period. In 2004, Tzeng proposed a time-bound cryptgraphic key assignment scheme for access control in a hierarchy and in 2008, Bertino et al proposed an efficient time-bound hierarchical key management scheme for secure broadcasting. Tzeng's scheme and Bertino et al's scheme are organized in different environment and primitive. In this paper, we analysis above two time-bound hierarchical key management scheme.

다양한 산업 분야와 일상생활에서 시각동기 문제는 매우 중요하다. 일상생활에서 사용하는 전자제품 중에서 보다 정확한 시각정보를 활용 한다면 좀 더 정확한 동작을 수행하게 할 수 있다. 전력선을 통해 전원을 공급받아 동작하는 제품의 경우, 전력선을 통해 정확한 시각 정보를 전송 받을 수 있다면 시각동기 문제를 좀더 쉽게 해결할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 GPS위성으로부터 수신한 시각정보를 전력선을 통해서 각 단말에 전송하는 전력선 방송 시스템을 개발하였다. 또한 시각 소스를 GPS에 동기된 스마트폰을 이용할 수 있도록 하였으며, 전력선 모뎀 기술이 갖는 장거리 전송의 어려움을 해결하기 위한 중계 방식을 제안하고 중계 시스템을 구현하였다. 본 논문에서 개발된 시스템은 시각 정보의 전송 거리를 확장하여 광역 PLB(Power Line Broadcasting) 시각방송을 구현하였다. 또한 본 논문에서는 중계 시스템의 성능을 평가하여 그 유용성을 확인하였다.

본 연구는 IPTV, 디지털케이블TV 등 디지털미디어 서비스에서 제공하는 지상파 실시간 방송 채널의 시청 률 추세변화와 영향 요인에 관한 연구이다. 수년 사이에 젊은 층의 TV 시청은 감소하고, 미디어의 대표격인 지상파의 시청률이 감소하면서 방송 산업 전반의 변화가 진행되고 있다. 특히 지상파사업자의 VOD 홀드백이 연장된 이후 시청자의 경쟁 채널과 모바일 매체로의 이동은 급격히 이뤄졌다. 연구자는 지상파 실시간 방송의 시청률에 종합편성채널, CJ E&M 등의 계열채널들이 영향을 준 것으로 가정하였다. 이를 통계적 방법론인 시계열 분석과 회귀분석을 통해 검증한 결과 연관성을 검증하였으며, 지상파 실시간 방송 시청률 감소의 원인을 면밀하게 확인하였다. 연구자는 이러한 결과를 토대로 정책입안주체와 사업자들이 시청자의 만족과 시장의 상생 성장을 위한 정책을 만들 것을 기대한다.

Video on Demand (VOD) is a multimedia service which allows a remote user to select and then view video at his convenience at any time he wants, which makes the VOD become an important technology for many applications. Numerous periodic VOD broadcasting protocols have been proposed to support a large number of receivers. Broadcasting is an efficient transmission scheme to provide on-demand service for very popular movies. This paper proposes a new broadcasting scheme called Popularity Cushion Staggered Broadcasting (PCSB). The proposed scheme improves the Periodic Broadcasting (PB) protocols in the latest mobile VOD system, which is called MobiVoD system. It also, reduces the maximum waiting time of the mobile node, by partitioning the $1^{st}$ segment of the whole video and storing it in the Local Media Forwarder (LMF) exactly in the Pool of RAM (PoR), and then transmitting them when the mobile nodes miss the $1^{st}$ broadcasted segment. The results show that the PCSB is more efficient and better than the all types of broadcasting and caching techniques in the MobiVoD system. Furthermore, these results exhibits that system performance is stable under high dynamics of the system and the viewer's waiting time are less than the previous system.

디지털 미디어 플랫폼이 확장되면서 유럽 국가를 중심으로 디지털 시대 공영방송의 공적 기능에 대한 재개념화가 이뤄졌다. 국가별 차이는 있지만 영국과 프랑스에서는 디지털 시대 공영방송의 공적기능 수행 중에 스마트 미디어를 포함한 인터넷 미디어에 대한 보편적 서비스 기능을 강조하고 있다. 하지만 국내에서는 공영방송사의 공적기능에 대한 논의에서 인터넷과 스마트 미디어 플랫폼 서비스 전략에 대한 공적인 논의가 부족한 상황이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 수용자 인식조사를 통해 인터넷 및 스마트 미디어 영역에서 공영방송사가 어떠한 공적기능을 수행해야 하는 지를 밝혀보고자 하였다. 이를 통해 국내 공영방송사들이 사회적으로 공익성을 확보하면서 인터넷 및 스마트 미디어 플랫폼에서 경쟁력을 확보할 수 있는 방안을 모색해 보고자 하였다. 연구결과 스마트폰 이용자들은 디지털 시대 공영방송이 추구해야 할 공적기능 중에서 TV를 통한 무료서비스와 더불어 인터넷 및 스마트 미디어 플랫폼을 통한 실시간방송서비스와 VOD 서비스를 제공하는 기능이 매우 중요하다고 평가하고 있었다. 또한 무료 실시간 방송 서비스가 제공된다면 이용자들은 높은 이용의사를 보이고 있었다. 따라서 국내 공영방송사들은 인터넷 및 스마트 미디어 플랫폼을 대상으로 무료 실시간 방송 서비스 제공을 통해 공영방송사의 공익성과 필요성에 대한 사회적 인식을 제고하고 이를 기반으로 디지털 시대에 중요한 방송기구로 기능할 수 있고 경쟁력을 갖출 수 있는 정책 수립이 필요하다.
