  • The purpose of this paper is to examine the change of the times on the transmission rate of broadcast message. In order to find out the research results, I collected past recorded news tapes and selected 22 radio news out from era of Japanese Imperialism, 1950's, 1960's and contemporary age. Next I measured each announcer's reading rate, and compared change on news-reading rate between present and past approximately 50 years ago. The results of study with such procedures and methods are as follows : the average reporting rate of newscasters in each era is different. From these results, we can easily grasp diachronic change in the transmission rate of broadcast message. Namely, the results show us that present announcers read news faster than the group of past era of Japanese Imperialism by 68%.

  • This study will be an exploratory study from the perspective of IWOM on the intention of word-of-mouth transmission. And based on 256 questionnaire survey data of E-Commerce live broadcast consumers, structural equation modeling is used to explore the paths and mechanisms of influence of consumers' perceived IWOM and perceived value on oral transmission intention in China's E-Commerce live broadcast. The results found that consumers' perceived IWOM had a positive effect on perceived usefulness and perceived entertainment, and that perceived usefulness had a positive effect on purchase intention while perceived entertainment had no direct effect on word-of-mouth transmission intention. Perceived IWOM also indirectly influences willingness to pass on word-of-mouth by affecting perceived value. Among them, the mediating effect of perceived usefulness in the path of perceived network influence on word-of-mouth transmission intention is greater than that of perceived entertainment.

  • Broadcast encryption (BE) is a cryptographic primitive that enables a sender to broadcast a message to a set of receivers in a secure channel. The efficiency of BE is measured by three factors: ciphertext transmission cost, user storage cost, and computational cost for decryption. In general, BE is applied to the environments where a large number of receivers should be accommodated, so that the transmission cost is considered as being the most important factor. In this paper, we suggest a new BE system, using Shamir's secret sharing method, which considerable reduces the transmission cost. In comparison to the previous Subset Difference (SD) system, the transmission size of our BE is longer until $r{\leq}\sqrt{n}$, but get shorter when $r{\geq}\sqrt{n}$ for number of revoked users and n number of total users. We show that the advantage can be achieved at the slight expense of both the storage and computational costs.

  • When the IEEE 802.11 wireless LAN-based broadcasting services, we use broadcast packets to broadcast multimedia contents to a large number of users using limited wireless resources. However, broadcast transmission is difficult to recover the loss packets compared with unicast transmission. Therefore, analysis of packet loss characteristics is required to perform efficient packet recovery. The packet loss in wireless transmissions is often bursty with high loss data rate. Even if loss patterns have the same average packet loss, they are different in the recovery rate of random loss and burst loss depending on the nature. Therefore, the analysis and research of the nature of the loss are needed to recover loss packets considering bursty characteristics. In this paper, we experimented Wi-Fi broadcast transmission according to transmission rate and analyzed bursty characteristics of loss patterns using 4-state markov model.

  • We demonstrate a cost effective broadcast signal transmission at 1.25-Gb/s with 100 GHz channel spacing based on a broadband light source (BLS) for a wavelength division multiplexing-passive optical network (WDM-PON). The BLS is implemented by using mutually injected Fabry-Perot laser diodes (MI F-P LDs). The error-free transmission without a forward error correction (FEC) is achieved by its low relative intensity noise (RIN). The number of usable modes is determined by RIN and/or extinction ratio (ER) in the spectrum sliced light output.

  • Though the digital transition of terrestrial TV has been completed, the transmission system for terrestrial radio has not been determined and terrestrial radio still keeps its analog transmission. This study, under coorientation model, aims to explore the cognitive difference in recognizing important factors to be considered in deciding the digital radio transmission system between the employees of terrestrial broadcasters and then crucial issues related to the factors are driven. It has been found that the most big cognitive difference among the employees of three major terrestrial broadcasters lies in selecting frequency band for digital radio transmission. But there was little difference of opinion on simultaneous production-transmission, efficiency of frequency usage, broadcast quality and standards of service. The most disputable point in transition to digital radio broadcasting is selecting the frequency band for digital radio between the frequency bands used for FM radio broadcast (88-108MHz), terrestrial DMB (VHF Ch7~13) and FM radio adjacent broadcast band (76~88MHz: VHF Ch5~6). So, the question concludes into the selection issue between DAB+, HD-Radio, and DRM+. To improve the quality of radio broadcasting service and enhance the satisfaction of listeners, it is desirable to allow to operate both production system and transmission station, to enhance high transmission efficiency with minimum transmission facility, and to permit new entrance of broadcasters.

  • The terrestrial ATSC 3.0 broadcasting system, which is capable of converging broadcast and communication services, uses IP based technology for data transmission between broadcasting equipment. In addition, data transmission between broadcasting equipment uses IP-based technology like existing wired communication network, which has advantageous in terms of equipment construction and maintenance In case IP based data transmission technology is used, however, it may inevitably cause an error that a packet is lost during transmission depending on the network environments. In order to cope with a broadcasting accident caused by such a transmission error or a malfunction of a broadcasting apparatus, a broadcasting system is generally configured as a duplication, which can transmit a normal packet when various types of error may occur. By this reason, correction method of error packets and intelligent switching technology are essential. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a design and implementation of intelligent IP switch for Ensuring Reliability of ATSC 3.0 Broadcast Streams. The proposed intelligent IP consists of IP Stream Analysis Module, ALP Stream Analysis Module, STL Stream Analysis Module and SMPTE 2022-1 based FEC Encoding/Decoding Module.

  • Most existing studies on broadcast services in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems have focused on how to allocate the transmission power to the subcarriers. However, because a broadcasting system must guarantee quality of service to all users, the performance of the broadcast service dominantly depends on the channel state of the user who has the lowest received signal-to-noise ratio among users. To reduce the effect of the worst user on the system performance, we propose a joint delivery scheme of unicast and broadcast transmissions in OFDM systems with broadcast and unicast best-effort users. In the proposed joint delivery scheme, the BS delivers the broadcast information using both the broadcast and unicast subcarriers at the same time in order to improve the performance of the broadcast service. The object of the proposed scheme is to minimize the outage probability of the broadcast service while maximizing the sum-rate of best-effort users. For the proposed joint delivery scheme, we develop an adaptive power and subcarrier allocation algorithm under the constraint of total transmission power. This paper shows that the optimal power allocation over each subcarrier in the proposed scheme has a multi-level water filling form. Because the power allocation and the subcarrier assignment problems should be jointly solved, we develop an iterative algorithm to find the optimal solution. Numerical results show that the proposed joint delivery scheme with adaptive power and subcarrier allocation outperforms the conventional scheme in terms of the outage probability of the broadcast service and the sum-rate of best-effort users.
